  1. Lowrance elite 5 hdi - combo with sonar- gs - down scan. no chirp. Good unit. I added Navionics chip. Of course it now sells for $200 less than in 2013. Would love a Raymarine Dragonfly with side scan too. Or Lowrance Structurescan.
  2. Same on a 1991 Mercury. Cold idle lever.
  3. I have a 1991 Lund with 40HP Mercury. Garage kept in Michigan. Still great compression and clean. Condition more important than age.
  4. I fog the cylinders in Michigan too. Also pump thru glycol propylene antifreeze and leave motor down in unheated garage. Last year my garage was 22F at one point.
  5. I have a 1991 Mercury 40 HP - 2stroke - 4 cylinder that is oil injected. I live in Michigan. At end of season i leave it down parked in garage. I do lower unit oil change and pump glycol propylene antifreeze thru engine. Fog cylinders. Done. Always tilt it down for storage. Also good idea to come home and flush engine with water after each trip in warm weather season.
  6. Wow. Very nice. Copied n laminated. Might make a good stocking stuffer! Thank you.
  7. Id say 4 as well. From another Michigander.
  8. Welcome n dont give up. Michigan has its challenges. Even Lake St Clair. Enjoy.

  12. In the North, such as here in Michigan, sales begin towards beginning of fall. However, I see over the years many brick and mortar and online, start to "dump" in the February time frame as the new stuff is going to come in that was at the previous ICAST. This includes electronics and boats etc. I just keep my eyes peeled at online and the large brick stores. Especially the clearance or bargain bins.
  13. Either life responsibilities, or weather may keep me from fishing. Thugh, here in Michigan fro spring thru fall, I usually only get out 10-12 times. Anywhere from an all day to 3-4 hours. That does make it special, but wish I could do more. If its real windy, the 16 foot aluminum is not good on the larger lakes. This year, only 8 times so far. Hope October affords a few more times.
  14. All great advice.

  25. Here in lower southeastern michigan (43rd parallel), it has begun as well. Cooler nights, shorter days, cooler air temps, you can see the birds and animals are already starting to feed up and hoard. A week ago (when air temp was 90F) Lake St Clair, that is fed by Lake Huron, was at 76-80 degrees. One week later it is at 66-69 degrees and the air temp today is going to be 75. This is after the last week we dropped from a week of 90F to a week of 60's. Time to look for the schooled up bait and head to the lake arms and tributaries. Though, there are still many bass out deep. Great time of year. Cheers!
