  1. Try a RAM Mount and maybe put thick padded sticky tape strip there. I bet there is a product out there that can cushion and not damage the boat finish. Good luck.
  2. I have an aluminum Lund. I back up till single axle wheel covers are almost all underwater. Float boat up on the bunks and winch the last foot or less most of the time. If shallow ramp and its a short ramp I end up floating boat about 1/2 to 2/3 onto the bunks and winch up the rest of the way. You can always buy the slick strips that go on the bunks. Except with launching your boat may slide off faster than you want it to. Good luck.
  3. Beside forming debris at the end of the ramp, you also create a washout hole from power loading repeatedly. I always check the ramp(s) till I know I am comfortable. However, ramps can and will deteriorate and break off under water and you wont know it until the next time you launch there. If it is too soft or I can feel and see the trailer suddenly drop a little, I am out of there and off to another lake. Boat and trailer and motor/gear weigh close to 2000 lbs and I am not using my back or truck to yank that out. Thus, I dont need to powerload and put the trailer in deep enough so I can float on and then winch up the last foot. Be safe out there.
  4. Love the answers up above. I've stood at the local pond or river and fished in a suit. I personally do take non boaters out but now I realize an added advantage: they'll never get back to that spot. I do carry a rod and tackle just in case no matter what. I do prepare extensively prior to a one day trip and over the winter. I'm at work doing this now. Uh-Oh. Gotta go!
  5. Well, if they are roaming in schools, you can't catch them until recess! :-) Seriously, slow presentation, finesse, sometimes dead sticking, don't show yourself, cast parallel to shoreline and bring it to them with the direction of the wind or current is best. Live bait often helps. Then, sometimes, they just wont bite. Move on and try that area later in the day. Good luck.
  6. Nice fish pics. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Whopper plopper 90. Rapala centennial lures for 10 each.
  8. try East Penn Deka deep cycle
  9. East Penn Deka deep cycle
  10. I have the Cabela's auto inflate and it is usually on sale during the winter with a good price drop.
  11. I have Cocoons that fit over my regular glasses and have the eyeglass holders so they dont fall in the water. I use amber color as a good all around to see into the water and helps with bright sunny days. Cost for the Cocoons was around $50.
  12. I had mounted the trolling motor too far over the gunnel. Smacked it on dock post as mrs was supposed to be watching while docking. Really my fault. It has 3 molded in screw bosses that screw the two halves of the directional head together. Top one ripped out screw boss at its base inside. The two meshing gears came off their mounting stud inside head as well. But i just put the two gears back on their mtg stud and used Gorilla glue on the screw boss. Waited 2 days to let glue dry well. Screwed back together. Lastly move mounting of TM forward 3 inches to be within outside edge of gunnel. Whew! Everything works. Great glue and Motor Guide keeps on working.
  13. Im in Michigan too. I use allstate for my old boat n trailer n towing. For on water help i use BOAT US. However they do boat insurance and have stated recently they lowered pricing.
  14. I have friends who mounted to fiberglass with center consoles. Might find directions/help on this forum. I use Lowrance Elite 5 hdi combo last 3 years with Navionics card. No worries. Like Hummungbird and RayMarine too. Nice units. Research and check out in stores. Look for sales at big box sport stores and online. ***, BPS, Overtons, etc.
  15. Agree with above. I have 25 year old carpet -original in Lund. Still going strong. Though like idea of rinsing out like a fiberglass boat. Next time I'd get snap in carpet.
  16. Cabelas Fisherman series. On sale now. $39.99. Was $60-$80. I have one 2 seasons now. Works for me.
  17. Cabelas fisherman series. On sale now. Check it out.
  18. Outboard - filling cooling intake till i see pink come out discharge. Theres always potential for residual water to sit in the engine.
  19. The old discussion of leaving tanks full or empty for long storage comes to mind. I live in Michigan. Boat in garage. Sometimes sees 22F during winter. I change oil, fill engine with propylene glycol, fog cylinders, and leave gas tank almost full with Stabil and leave vent open on gas tank with fuel line disconnected. Starts right up in spring. No issues. 1991 2 stroke 4 cylinder oil inject Mercury.
  20. Bought a Cabelas version. Good price. Light weight and comfortable. Auto inflates. Just in case I fall in.
  21. Zman worms and 10 inch frock wprms. Also lizards.
  22. Nice catchin. I fish there also. But this past week when Detroit temps rose way up i was on vacation in Florida catching off shore salties and then Lake Okeechobee large mouth. But was envious of the guys back home. Thanks for sharing.
