  1. That is good to hear. I am also very meticulous when it comes to cleaning and what not. I tear them down to the frame and clean all the parts really well so that they last me a long while and perform well. I am pretty anxious to get these in and get them spooled so I can try them out.
  2. I love the PQ. In my opinion they are great which is what led me to buy the JM. I ended up getting the Revo because for some reason I like the abu's a little more than my shimanos. I am not saying that there is anything wrong with my shimanos and it is probably all in my head but for some reason I am just more comfortable with the abu's. When it comes to spinning reels all I have is shimanos though. I think all the major companies have good reels and it really just comes down to what do you like more.
  3. Well, I ended up purchasing the Revo SX and the JM sig series. I went to look at lews, but to me it seemed that the Revo felt nicer in my hand was a tad bit smoother feeling. I ended up getting a JM sig series as well because they went on sale when I put my order in (no one in town had the Revo 7:1 in a lefty model in stock). Thank you all for the input. I will definitely keep my eye on the lews once they open the Bass Pro and Cabelas in my town. I wish they had more of a selection so I could get a better feel for them now.
  4. As I stated with the Bass Pro going up, we have a cabelas going up as well. They are both still under construction. I believe we are fortunate to get both stores in the area at the same time though. Even though I will probably go broke when they open haha. Thanks for the suggestion. I am just trying to get an idea of what people's personal preferences are so that I can go to the store and see which I like best.
  5. I do service my own. I usually tear them down to the frame every year and clean them with ardent reel cleaner. However, I've always hated buying used. I'm not saying that there aren't good reels out there that are used, but I just hate the idea of potentially getting someone else's problem.
  6. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the PQ. In fact it is my favorite reel. However, the 80 dollar sale has ended. I kept putting off ordering one (since I cant go to the store and buy one, we have one going up about 5 min from my house under construction). So now I figure if I am going to spend the extra money on it that I might as well test the waters.
  7. I've seen this reel and have also seen a lot of people recommend it as well. I've got a caenen that I picked up brand new at a liquidation store for 20 bucks, but I haven't used it much (mainly because I haven't had much time to pick up another rod for it). Thanks for the recommendation. I will add it to the list to check out at the store to see how it feels in the hand.
  8. Hey guys, I am in the market to add another baitcaster reel to my arsenal. At the moment I have a few bps, abu garcias, and shimanos. I am leaning towards the BPS Johnny Morris signature series because I love my pro qualifiers and the quality that BPS seems to bring. I really like the fact that the JM's have the duraluminum gears. However, I am open to suggestions. I want to stay in the $100-180ish range. I will also be pairing this with a duckett ghost rod. Thanks and I look forward to hearing y'alls input.
  9. H2O Express ethos. It is a great rod for the money. It also has a heck of a return policy if for some reason they break. I had one for about a year and I took it back and they replaced it no questions asked.
  10. First off, welcome Dan. Second, I am also new to the site and have heard and seen good things thus far. I am from Chattanooga and trying to find new places to fish and learn more confidence baits. I am also looking for new people to fish with and learn from since most of my buddys are either not fishing much anymore due to time obligations or moved away for college and jobs.
  11. I have a few of the ethos rods. I love them. A co-worker told me about them and I decided to check them out. As you stated I was surprised about the fuji components. I like these more than I do the veritas rods and they are cheaper. Sensitivity is unheard of for their cost. Also, another point I'd like to add is if you ever have problems with them like if something breaks take it back and they will replace the rod. My buddy and I were night fishing and he accidentally stepped on it and broke it (my fault for laying it there when I switched to another rod really fast) and I took it back after I owned it for over a year and they swapped it for a new one no questions asked.
  12. I 2nd this. Throw it on a drill and let her rip. I like that you can take the line off of a lot of reels and not have to worry about taking the line off the stripper until you are done and it comes off the stripper in a neat pile.
  13. I picked one up as my first baitcaster a few years ago and didn't really have a problem. I threw a plug on the line and just practiced adjusting everything. Play with the knob and brakes. I would make sure the line is put on right as well because if its not it will cause a lot of backlash even if you have everything set right.
  14. I am a lefty as well so I know the struggle when it comes to trying to find deals and what not or just the fact that some reels do not come in a lefty model. The BPS Pro Qualifier is one of my favorites. I find myself buying them up after I bought my first one.
  15. I can't speak from personal experience on their reels, but i had an ethos rod and it was a champ. I had read the reviews and was referred to them by a co-worker and bought one. It is a great rod for the money. I had it for about a year and it broke after a buddy accidentally stepped on it while we were night fishing. I took it back without a receipt and they replaced it no questions asked. I've got them on a couple set-ups and love them.
