  1. I got a Bull shad (threadfin) and a Balsa Bull. The cool part is, I bought them from Mike Bucca personally.
  2. So I went to the GON Blast (Georgia Outdoor Network expo). Which is always cool, but it's mostly hunting/deer stuff. But, I rounded a corner and Mike Bucca had a booth. I couldn't believe it, in fact I was a little "star struck". Luckily, my brother was able to carry the conversation while I pulled it together. It was awesome meeting him, he's a super cool guy. That makes insane swimbaits. In fact, we talked for like a half an hour. I ended up buying a Balsa Bull and a slow sink 5" Bull Shad (and a freebie Bull Shad decal). He said he was a member here, and talked to Glen at Icast. So Mike if you read this...shout out.
  3. Nice, I actually quoted it from Brian Bosworth. That guy's hilarious
  4. F-R-O-G
  5. The biggest disapointment...Carrot Stix, their new genX rods are not neon orange, they are burnt orange. Burnt orange makes me puke. On the bright side Lucky Craft's new glide bait the "Real Ayu 178". It's a 7" slow float (it dives on the retreive and floats on the pause). The coolest part is it's only 20 bucks.

    Frog

It worked well til I lost it. It was nice for catching small fish. I haven't bought another, but it was fun while it lasted. And super glueing the nose works really well, it's worth doing.
  7. I have 50lb. Power Pro right now. I don't think it's that much easier to manage over light line, but if you have problems with lighter braid I would switch to a heavier braid. My biggest problem with lighter braid (10-20#) is that it slices up my hands tightening knots.
  8. Carrot Stix 7' MH. The price is comparable to a Duckett, but the quality is way better. They have EVA foam grips (on the cheaper models) but I think it's a higher quality foam. They are super light and extremely sensitive. People love to hate them and say, they break easy, or their warranty is bad, or they are ugly. But, I've fished them hard for years without any problems (excluding normal wear and tear). If you don't like orange (which who doesn't?) get the green one. I also would highly suggest braid with Carrot Stix, it gives them an even greater level of sensitivity. They really have that sensitive tip with a sturdy backbone that you're looking for.

    Frog

Lunk3rHunt and H20 (academy store brand) both make small frogs. The Lunk3rHunt is way better, I've actually had pretty good success with it.
  10. HAHAHA! I haven't been watching it. I thought it was embarrassing at two weeks, but four days?? You are right, the more yuppies on the show crying, the more people will watch it.
  11. They look awesome. Very nice first batch. Just be warned painting/customizing lures can be addicting.
  12. Go for two, and put braid on both. I would get a Medium Light Carrot Stix rod with a Lew's 7:1 casting reel. For t-rigs, shakey heads, chatterbaits, etc. And a Medium Heavy Carrot Stix rod with a Lew's 7:1 reel. For frogs, swimbaits, jigs, blah blah blah. It doesn't have to be Carrot Stix and Lew's. That's just what I would do.
  13. The best way to explain it is: it is just there. It doesn't really "float", it doesn't really "sink".
  14. 13 inch Dead twitch about 14 0z Couple of good fish the big one was 11and change WOW!!! I can't even think of anything to say. That is the winner of the hypothetical competition for best picture ever taken of guy holding fish.
  15. And the say you're "mean". Something similar happened to me years ago. I was walking my dog, when a car going about 30 hits a parked car on the side of the road not of a quarter block away from us. This girl bleeding from her head comes out, scared as all get out asks for help. My mom helps her (as much as she could), my brother calls the paramedics, and I'm standing there holding the dog standing in a puddle, not sure if it was the dog or me (ok not really). But, the ambulance comes, then this lady shows up from the house across the street. She proceeds to not ask any questions, not even look towards this girl on a stretcher and starts taking pictures of her car (which wasn't even that nice) with the sourest look on her face you'd ever see. After the cops and ambulance left we did too, but even now I can't believe that lady's response.
  16. I literally looked at muskie lures yesterday for bass. These are the forerunners, and probably won't be long til I own them. The wildest thing about these lures is, like you said; they super cheap for what they are. Now I'm sure you would want to switch hooks or take off steel leaders (if muskie aren't around), but some look good for bass. 1.The Baby Beaver Lure $45. Wish I could post the video (low tech man in a high tech world, just google "baby beaver lure"). It's a 12" Frankenstein Swimbait thing that looks exactly like a beaver swimming in the water. 2. The XL Jitter bug. It's just like the original but, this one is 6" long $7.99. 3.There is also the "Mr. Wiggley" $27. It's a River2Sea swimbait that Larry Dahlberg designed. It's 12" long, and comes with two in a pack. It has some pretty crazy life-like action.
  17. I'll bet they make it worth your time. But, it is a weird problem
  18. They are holding you're entire order hostage, because the sunfish isn't due till late winter? I'd contact them about it, I've heard they have really good customer service.
  19. Nope, no need to worry. It's a pretty common way of tuning/testing new lures. I wish I had a pool to test lures in. Just don't do it while people are swimming.
  20. No, but it would most likely work. One more thing. If the reels you plan to use aren't spooled with braid (25-65# Power Pro) I highly suggest you switch before you go. You can never have line that's too strong while Inshore fishing. One time while fishing cut-bait on a 10' Okuma surf rod/reel with 50# braid (drag set all the way down). I got spooled by something, probably a big shark/ray. But I never even turned it's head. It was like tying my line to a truck going 5mph, didn't retreive hardly any line.
  21. 4" Berkely Gulp Shrimp (New Penny) on chart. lead head. Use that and you should smoke any and all inshore game fish. Another thing you can do, is use some old bass lures on them. Things like spinnerbaits, buzz baits, and top-water plugs would be fun.
  22. That is such a classic line. It's really funny when the call exactly every other week. Going on how we need to come today because their grass has gotten too long, again. I've since adopted the perfect response for every occasion you should try. "Yes ma'am." It works wonders. My grass is too green...yes ma'am You guys are too expensive...yes ma'am You are too slow...yes ma'am Why didn't you come earlier...yes ma'am YOU ARE FIRED...yes ma'am A stereotype vid would be way too funny. When it all boils down I enjoy it. Good customers out weigh difficult ones, and their appreciation makes it worth it.
  23. Yup, just curious if it happened to everyone. My personal favorite is the add-on person..."While you're here can you chop down this massive oak tree?" NO Or the negotiator "I know we settled on $$$$$, but can you do it for $?" NO (Not complaining I love all customers even picky ones.) But to answer Hootie I think 9 A.M. on saturday is completely reasonable.
  24. Not to hijack the thread, but...What is the most common complaint you guys get? Ours is "You are cutting my grass too long." Which is kinda weird, because if you cut too short it cuts out the green and looks way worse.
  25. Honestly, I don't think they look too bad.
