  1. I've been tempted for years to buy one, but I would probably have way too much fun.
  2. I mainly stick with making balsa crankbaits and repainting lures, but I can tell the rod building is not too far away.
  3. ^ If you ever have any doubts on the Wa55. Just watch the TacticallBassin' video featuring it, it's absolutely crazy.
  4. To love IU and ND for any length of time you need a healthy dose of loyalty.
  5. It's easily the coolest custom built rod I have seen on BR so far.
  6. With the baseball bat idea there would probably be a 1/2" to an 1" lip around the rod, which wouldn't be very pretty, but it wouldn't bother me too much (you could use a lathe to make a clean taper which would make it look way better). I would consider keeping the knob, it might give it a cool look. But, I've pretty much dismissed that idea...for now. I'm most likely going to use an old graphite shaft golf club (as someone suggested above). I know from one random sport to the other, but bear with me. Here's the new plan: it currently has a 10" handle I want it somewhere around 18". It's a split grip so I'm going to cut the rear grip off leaving approximately 6-7", ream out the rod to the proper fitting if it's needed (I'll have to dry fit it a few times to get it just right). In the mean time I'd cut the driver to the proper length, compensating for the 3-4" that will be fitted into the end of the rod. Then paint the golf shaft, put a new Golf Pride grip on it then epoxy/clear coat it. I also might stick a trim ring where the connection is, if I can salvage the one that's on the rear grip.
  7. You can't spell sCRAPple without spelling crap.
  8. I don't think you will be disappointed. Which ones did you get, also what colors?
  9. Fly fishing is one of the best (most fun) ways to catch bass.
  10. Sorry, I forgot they already make one....The Banjo Minnow.
  11. Read "Bass Bug Fishing" by William Tapply . It will teach you everything, from tying flies to proper casting and presentations. It's a great book written by a pretty cool guy.
  12. It makes a difference in hook sets. I have a M/L Carrot Stix with braid, I can easily throw stuff over it's weight limit. So, braid makes a difference, but it can only help so much.
  13. Obviously it's my opinion, why else would I have written it? And "generally" only fools or kids spells buy when they should spell by.
  14. Get a bait keeper spring (like one from a swimbait hook), put a barrel swivel on the spring, and a spinner blade on the swivel. Then screw the spring into the back of the swimbait where the tail used to be. It should give the flash and action you are looking for. In fact TW sells these pre-made, but you probably have most of the stuff to do it yourself.
  15. River2Sea makes the best frogs.
  16. Nice!
  17. Now if someone could only figure out how to make a Senko smell like meatloaf.
  18. Both. It's along the lines of the Mann's Jelly Worm.
  19. I need to make some copies of mine because I always lose them somehow. There's probably a huge pile of socks and expired fishing licenses behind the dryer.
  20. Took a while, but I have finally gotten around to making soft plastic smell like candy. I took the advice from one of the BR members and used "candy flavoring oil" I found it at Hobby Lobby. It's super cheap like $3, and it works like crazy. I made a "Watermelon Seed" swim bait that smells just like watermelon candy.
  21. I buy replacement lenses for my Oakleys on Amazon. I'm sure the have some for Costas.
  22. Before anyone sends me hate mail, I don't really snag squirrels for fun.
  23. I try to catch squirrels in the back yard with acorns and a flippin' stick. Does that count?
  24. Happy B-day, enjoy the world capital of fishing.
