Youtube will show you how to clean bluegill better than anyone can tell you how. And as long as the pond water isn't gross stagnent water it should be O.K. but, if you have ANY doubts, don't eat them. Fish gyros, not matter how delicious, are not worth being strapped to the John with dysentery.
I caught a HUGE bluegill and three bass in maybe an hour of fishing. All with the fly rod, on a small bass bug. The fishing was above average for that pond, I don't know if it was the "Cow Moon" or not.
I'll bet it wasn't.
Used to live near PCB, the fishing there and the surrounding areas is absolutely crazy. Congrats on the grand slam, not an easy thing to do.
Good couple of points there, especially the 10lbs. worth of drag, I'll have to agree with you on lighter line. And seeing that tarpon in your profile pic it seems you've been around the mountain a couple of times. Where did you go to hook a big ole' tarpon like that?
I know you weren't calling me a blabber mouth (although there are plenty that do). My favorite balabber post is the obligatory "If you were on a deserted island with one rod, one reel, and one lure what would they be?"
Honestly, an ugly stick with 50lb. braid on 2500-3000 series reel. Would serve you pretty well. If you want a nicer rod (which from the sounds of it you do) any rod that's near the $200 is going to be a really nice rod. It would be hard to make a bad choice out of your list.
I use the classic fisherman's knot with just about everything. With braid you have to thread it through the eye-let twice to keep it from slipping. It's the strongest knot I've found I have never had a fish (fresh or saltwater) break that knot when it was properly tied.
Alright guys, let's not make this a neg-fest. I understand if somebody wants to share their prize (if they had won), or a question regarding the legitamacy of the scale. But, both of those questions have been answered (more than once) let's not ruin a good thing, and move on. Peace out.
