  1. I hit nock after work with the kayak last week. Got one bit but missed him. Water was warm for sure! in the creeks i fish its up to 64 degrees already.
  2. Going to the park this weekend to camp and fly fish for native brookies in the area but we want to do some bass fishing as well. I wanted to know if you guys had some places to give a try or where to start. Want to get down to parts of the Lehigh and try fishing there but i don't know the area well at all. Will have our waders but no boat with you so sticking to streams and rivers are the main goal. Any help would be great!
  3. Not sure, i just saw photos but never asked them what they had on. If i had to guess they had a sinko or some kind of soft plastic on working it on a weed line. At deep creek the weed line is really starting to come in so i would guess that is where they are but i have yet to fish it for bass this year. Going next week in the kayak for sure so i will post and tell you guys how i do.
  4. I had a couple buddy's this weekend do pretty well at deep creek and then walking the bank up on the reservoir. couple three ponders. real nice fish. All large mouth.
  5. I was going to hit deep creek today but I'm heading to skippack creek. Starting to see the bass moving up when trout fishing in the past week. should be some good fishing in the next couple weeks both there and at deep creek. Hoping to get the kayak on the water there tomorrow afternoon for some bass! Anytime you want to head out and fish let me know man! We fish the same water.
  6. Went over at my lunch break to fish. Did not see or get any bass but the crappies were hitting like crazy. Going to have to get the kayak over and hit it next week.
  7. Watermelon red hands down.
  8. Fished for Pickerel over the weekend and we were killing them on inline spinners. We must have got about 100 between the 7 of us. It was a great time! First time fishing for them, and i will differently be fishing for them more now. We also got a couple two pound bass so that just made the day better.
  9. I had Cabelas prestige 4wt and was not a fan at all. I went to Orvis access line 4wt WF. Started using it this spring. casts great and stay afloat for a good amount of time. I got the access line on sale for $50 so it was a no brainer to get that line.
  10. I have not fished nock for crappie but I have done so at peace valley. You can do pretty well this time of the year but this summer look for them in around 15, 20 feet of water. For you nephew I would go after the white perch at PV. We had a day on the kayak last year where we put like 50 fish in the boat in 30 minutes. We found the fish chasing the gizzard shad on the surface. It was a blast!
  11. I'm going to get the kayak out on Sunday to nock or peace valley just not sure what one yet. Good to hear the spawn is now. I thought it would be going down soon. Crappie run should start this week as well.
  12. When I find Smallmouth in current i fish them just like i do for trout. I will dead drift in current seams. I look for current breaks like rocks or something that will give a place for a fish to sit without having to use a lot of energy to get food. If you know how to fish for trout in a stream, its the same thing for bass in faster moving water.
  13. Walked the park this weekend. Around 70% is still ice but there was a boat on the water. the big deal was the seagulls where diving after the shad or white perch! They were putting on quite the show. it was defiantly neat to see. Good thing about that is the bass should be moving up with the shad and perch. I took water temp on the south side (38 degrees) and north side (43 degrees). Things should really pick up in the next couple weeks there. Also read that it was an old lead mine so that's why there is not much cover on the bottom like trees and what not. I'am getting a DI for my kayak so we will see what i come up with once i get on the water this year. wont be long now!!
  14. Working on my jerk bait and tubes. I have done ok but do not have the confidence that i know i should have when smallie fishing. Really it would have to be work on everything. Just become a better fisherman. Only been fishing for 2 years now so i learn so much every time am on the water. So main goal.....get on the water at least 3 days a week after work! Fly fishing: I really want to work on my streamer in these small streams that i fish. I do a lot of nymphing for bass right now.
  15. I fish in a stream that is no more then 4' deep in the holes so the average size of the bass are a pound maybe two so i use my 4wt. I would say 95% of the time i dead drift gold copper johns #12 down deep runs. Woolly buggers are a good one to drift as well. I Sight fishing 100% of the time. When you get a 2lb on a 4wt its a blast!
