  1. Ohh I messed up, buckfield not Deerfield haha
  2. Deerfield is next to Paris and auburn if those ring a bell
  3. what part of maine do you fish in? My dad moved to maine a couple months ago for a new job and he comes home to here in ct on the weekends to visit my family, he lives in deerfield and works in scarbourough. I was thinking of heading up there on spring break or in the summer. Are there any good spots you reccomend?
  4. What is the best swimbait? Never fished swimbaits before, looking for one in bluegill or other sunfish colors, perch too. How do you rig these swimbaits too? Saw a video of these guys fishing them and it briefly showed them screwing it in to the hook. You cant rig these like a soft plastic? any reccomendations?
  5. thanks everyone,i use braid on my bass rods but i use this setup for trout and other smaller fish
  6. I was wondering how to fish these zoom lizards. They are the 6 inch super salty in green pumpkin with purple green flake. Ive never fished soft plastics before but i was reading up on it and with lizards i think theyll be best during all phases of the spawn. I learned to basically just fish it near shore and along beds can be deadly. Most of my curiosity is how to rig them. I have some gamakatsu 4/0 offset shank hooks, i see a lot of videos of people rigging soft plastics with larger hooks. I was also curious if you can rig it on a jig head (does jig head color matter) I have smaller jig heads in size 6 since i do not fish exclusively bass and i felt that this was a good all around size hook for all different species of fish. Thanks everyone!
  7. wanted to just say thanks again I'll be sending something you way
  8. Another competitor to the sienna is the trion, noticed it can hold more line, has more ball bearings, higher max drag, while only sacrificing a little more weight ( which I don't really care about) and only 10$ more. I think I'm going to buy the trion as it seems like it is a price point version of the president with the same quality engineering. It has great reviews on the internet and a few people on the forums have recommended it. I think I made a good choice. Thoughts?
  9. The only problem is i thought i had a little more cash when i made this post, dont really have the money to spend an extra 60$ but ive reasearched the president and it seems like a great reel and all of you guys are giving 100% positive feedback on it seems great wish i had the $ though. thats why im looking into to the shimano sienna, has a lot of great feedback on bass pro and cabelas, and great reviews on the internet. i think im going to go with that reel. once i can do a few odd jobs over the summer i will defintely purchase the president.
  10. thanks for all he input everyone. Im looking into the shimano sienna 2500 fd because i hear that is very good as well for not much $$$$. aNyone have a reccomendation for this reel???
  11. Recently looking over all my tackle and i think i could really use another pole. Ive settled on buying one of the newer uglystick gx2 rod. Looking to upgrade to a good reel instead of the made in china junk ones you get with a shakespeare rod and reel combo. Should i go with a more well known brand like shimano, daiwa, abugarcia etc. or will cabelas or bass pro brand reels work well. I would rather have a good reel for and extra 10 or 20 bucks than junk. Thanks
  12. Personally, for bass fishing i use Berkely fireline 20 lb braid, which is the same diameter as 6lb mono. Braid is great becuase of the lack of memory it has, no stretching, durability, not breaking down in the sun, and is cheaper in the long run to spend a little more now. but for other stuff like trout or panfishing lighter mono is just fine. or if you are hitting a spot where you are positive that there arent big bass, then its great to have a good fight with light line.
  13. What is KVD Line and lure?
  14. Looking to respool my ultralight rod/reel today. Wondering if this is a good idea to do this with monofilament. I already have the 6lb mono (in my last post) but im concerened if i spool it now that by the time ice out rolls around it will already have memory on it. Thoughts?
  15. I'm using 20 lb test braid which is equivalent to 6lb mono or fluorocarbon. But I figured it out. I angled the blades of the prop to look almost like a boat motor propellor, and they both turn freely now. Now that I know how to properly rig these I'm gonna look into more colors thanks everyone for all the help
  16. Thanks for all the help still can't get them to turn though
  17. Try buying polarized oakley flak jackets. They run over $100 but you might be able to get them cheaper on ebay or from a lenscrafters if you put it on insurance.
  18. Hi new to the forums. Does anyone have any advice on heddon torpedos. My teeny torpedos (the ones that are about 1/2 inch long) the propellers wont turn in water. Im not sure if they are hitting the hook and cant turn or what is going on. Ive searched up about this and havent found any luck with it, ive tried turning the eye out and it hasnt helped. Also, the teeny torpedo seems to sit mostly in the water with just the head of the plug and my knot on topwater, is this supposed to be that way? I have fullsized torpedo that doesnt have any of these problems. Thanks
