  1. neither man made has a drain for high water when it rains though and im not sure it has a lot of weeds covering the bottom im pretty sure
  2. So here is my situation: a spot of mine is a trashy pond owned by my town behind our middle school. They stock it with trout every spring and have a kid's fishing derby and stuff like that. Put it this way, fishing at this pond is never good and it is common to not catch anything. I think this is because of the high amount of invasive aquatic plants in the pond, the fact that it is less than 2 feet deep in 1/2 of it (it is only 1 acre), the same flock of geese that lay eggs and raise their goslings ever year at the pond, and the fact that is just below the crest of a hill, and has grass surrounding it and receives lots of runoff of fertilizers and pesticides from the grass. I think all these factors contribute to the fact that it does not have a lot of oxygen in the water, and the runoff is speeding up the eutrophication of the pond as well. I fished topwater there last night and got skunked. I usually can get at least a few bass on topwater there, but my theory is that they have gone to the deeper part of the pond for cooler water and more oxygen. What should I be using to fish the deeper part? or if anyone else has any other tactics i should try out would be appreciated as well. A drawing of the pond is attached.
  3. Go with a mission or a bowtech bow, I have a bowtech fuel but also seriously considered buying a mission riot. The craze is a very compact bow, almost too compact.
  4. Buy a Springfield operator or a trp. I have the operator and I love it, but I've also **** the trp as well and found the gun to shoot well and be very comfortable. The operator is expensive but good gear ain't cheap, and cheap gear ain't good
  5. Everyone if you are thinking about buying a 1911 spend the extra and go with a Springfield operator. Great gun, a trp is a good 1911 as well
  6. I some what agree with him, convert it to a 6.8 SPF me and my dad have **** a lot of deer with that round, and it does it's job-well. Haven't run more than 5 yards after making the ****, if they don't just fall over immediately when you shoot them anyways. But if you are dead set on those three, go eith a 556 if it's a range gun, and a 762 if you want to hunt. 762 has pretty available amounts of ammo around here for a fair price. Fun to go to the range and shoot a few boxes or hand loads as well.
  7. Thank yiu guys very much for the advice. I bought the bow from a family friends gun and archery shop, he and his tech helped me fit my arrrows, work on my form, recommended different products etc etc. he has a "3d" shooting machine with a projector that you can shoot at all different kinds of animals with. They gave deer, elk things like that, but they put thing like snakes and caterpillars for the really hard shot. And gardnerjigman I already have a kisser button hehe
  8. Wondering if any one is a bow hunter/ bow shooter. Recently purchased a brand new bowtech fuel as my first "real" bow (other than my pse spyder youth bow) I am decent with a bow and am trying to get lots of shooting time in during the summer before deer season starts. Could anyone give me any shooting tips? Thanks
  9. Hunters shampoo - scent less and actually cleans well I use various brands and things like that all the time for hunting
  10. no i havent but I will try that today
  11. So the past few times ive been to my favorite spot, ive not had good success. Ive been skunked about 3 times by all species of fish. The only time i didnt get skunked was when a 1/4 lb bass hit my kvd 1.5. I am most definetly sure the bass are in prespawn, as i can see them breaking water on the edge of the cove, right where it drops off. Oddly enough, the small bass i caught was when i tossed the crank into the cove. I cant seem to get bit on anything i use. Ive tried spinnerbaits, crankbaits, swimbaits, jigs w/craw trailer even tried nightcrawlers. Ive tried a jerkbait but im not sure how to really use it, i cant seem to find anywhere how to actually work it, only where to throw it. Should I try topwater lures if i go back and they are still breaking the surface? please help me, I need to catch a BASS!!!!!
  12. Same exact things happend to me last night, fish are in prespawn, i tried a jig with craw trailer, kvd 1.5 square bill, texas rigged grass pig. There was a school of sunfish 10 feet to my right that were not spooking from my crank when i threw it right into them. i resorted to a bitsy minnow to at lest try and catch those sunnies but they wouldnt hit that either. fished for 2 hours before it got dark and was skunked. The bass were hitting top water and jumping all evening. i should have threw a popper or a torpedo out but i dont want to fish topwater till post spawn.
  13. I have zero problems with snakes at all. I think they are kinda cool actually, what I really hate is spiders, that is a WHOLE other story of why I hate those 8 legged freaks.
  14. I use 20lb berkely trilene on 3 spinning reels and have had no problems with it, i love it for getting lures unstuck because it has great power
  15. youll also need to spool a little bit of mono or fluoro on your reel first, just enough so it covers your spool backing, then use a double uni or blood knot to tie your lines together and then you can spool the rest of your spool with braid. if you didnt have a a backing the braid would slide around on the rod almost like you have no drag at all. also if you have a graphite rod loosen your drag a bit or else you might snap your rod because braid has no stretch. good luck!
