  5. looking at the Minn Kota Terrova Bow Mount Trolling Motors w/ Universal Sonar 2 and i-Pilot Wireless GPS Trolling System24v 80lb question is should I go with the 45" or 60" shaft and any imput on battery size/brand
  6. Bought a bunch of strike king sexy frogs on clearance for $3 at dicks msrp is around $7-9 so I think I scored well cant wait to try them.
  7. Oh man I only been fishing for 2 years and already bought so much stuff I can see some of these setups in my future. Just bought one of them plano tray totes that hold 7 trays planing on using that as a tackle bag and having another small bag for plactics and tools looking to try it out once New England thaws out
  8. Gotta be the wacky rig watermelon red flake or junebug
  9. I'm always picking up new ones myself due to tackle addiction gonna need a rolling suitcase pretty soon
  10. I use the ones by Spiderwire at walmart for $15 super cheap and work good for me never tried anything more pricey all my cash goes to tackle and gear sunglasses are bottom of the list.Beside i'd spend too much time worrying about damaging them with these i'm only out $15
  11. I use them till there worn out then trash'em why throw money away lol.
  12. Thanks I'm gonna pickup a Ghost crankbait rod and a fenwick HMG frog rod and gonna get an *** for the other PQ so i'll get to try them all out for future referance.
  13. I am heading to florida for 8 days on march 2nd visiting friends in the ocala area.Gonna be doing alot of LM fishing mainly from shore and wondering what I should bring for baits i'd love to bring them all but I am flying so limited to 1 bag of tackle. I heard live shiners are the best this time of year but I consider them cheating lol. Any guidence will help. Thanks and tight lines.
  14. thanks for the info never considered *** I thought they was too high end plus the *** looks pretty sweet they are at the top of list might still get one of the ducketts for cranks
  15. Thanks for the input will go with the 24v then.
  16. Yea I was leaning that way and plan on going all out on the tm I was thinking about the terrova with i-pilot looks pretty sweet with the wireless stuff and the spot lock system do you think it would be better to go with the 24v 80lb or could i do good with the 12v 55lb the 80lb is about $500 more when you add the price of another battery either way still way cheaper than $3000+ for a gas job
  17. Thanks for the input i'll go lighter on the spinning line and good idea about the thickness I never noticed it varied between companies. Now on the top water subject what would be the best line could I fish them on the frog rod with the heavy braid or should I put something differant on the 6'10' but I still want it to work for the other baits listed dont want to buy another rod just for top water I want to try and stay with the 6 rod setup. Thanks again for the help
  18. Well lets start off by saying i'm a big guy 6'4" 300lbs and I like to stand rather than sit while fishing. So this is what i have now 2- 10ft jons one is my dads when he was young and i fixed it up and painted it last summer and the other is brand new (just won it at my local BPS along with a 45lbtrolling motor and a elite 4x HDI fishfinder). My other boat is a 12ft sevylor inflatable which i put a plywood floor with carpet, adjustable seats also built a little console that houses my trolling motor battery, my fishfinder (hummingbird pirannamax 175) and 2 rod holders and a cup holder that i can put in either the inflatable or the jon to fun the motor which is a 30lb thrust. Now with that being said the 10 footers I cant really stand in plus i can only fish them alone and the other is ok to stand in by myself and very shaky with 2 people standing. I have 2 boats in mind one is the tracker 1542 but i would want to build a front deck with a bow mount trolling motor and not sure how stable it would be with 2 people my size after that the other is a tracker grizzly 1754 which will be really stable but with the price of the boat and trailer I can only afford to put a really good bow mount trolling motor on it which I think would be fine since all my ponds/lakes are small -medium and I cant justify spending a few thousand on a motor to only use less than 5% of the time and maybe pick up a used one next year.Below is the inflatable opening day last year. Those are my ideas let me know what you guys think and as always tight lines everyone.
  19. Well this will be my 3rd season and looking to dive headfirst into baitcasting so this is my plan for my gear this season: 7' medium- parabolic Duckett Ghost rod with a BPS PQ 5.2:1 12lb floro this will be for crankbaits 7'3" heavy- fast Duckett Ghost rod with a BPS PQ 7.1:1 50lb braid this will be for frogs and punching heavy cover 6'10" medium- fast Duckett Ghost rod with a BPS PQ 7.1:1 12lb floro this will be for lipless cranks, topwater, spinnerbaits, jigs, texas rigs all 3/8oz or less 7' medium heavy Bill Dance combo (christmas gift) with 6.3:1 15lb floro for jigs, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, carolina rig all 1/2oz or bigger 6'6" medium berkley amp spinning rod (really sensitive) Quantum nitrous 5.2:1 12lb floro for finesse, shaky head, mojo rig, wacky rig 6'6" medium berkley cherrywood spinning rod shimano sienna 5.2:1 12lb floro for dropshots I've already bought the PQ's at the classic for $50 each the Duckett rods and line choices are open for ideas I want to stay around $100 for the rods. The bill dance combo and spinning setups I already have but open to line choices also I think this would give me a decent 6 rod arsenal but any ideas or sugestions are welcome. Thanks and tight lines everyone.
  20. Hey everyone my names Mike and I am from Rhode Island. This will be my 3rd year fishing and I am addicted lol, I mainly go for LM and also trout in the spring. I always said I didnt have the patience for fishing when I was younger but after deer hunting the last 9 Years (my fall and winter addiction)it taught me patience and how to enjoy the great outdoors I gave it a try and became hooked pun intended.I'm always looking to learn new stuff and really like the site, I been using spinning rods but going with mostly baitcasters this year, I have 2 10ft jons and a 12ft inflatable but looking into a bigger boat so 2 guys can fish comfortably and stable but I'll take that up in another tread. Thats about it for now cant fish for awhile due to a crazy winter here but am escaping in 2 weeks to Florida for 8 days so will be getting some fishing in down there hoping for a big P.B. but just getting a break from the snowstorms will be nice. Any questions feel free to ask and tight lines everyone.
