  1. They are on backorder at the moment unfortunately. We had to shut down for about 5 months due to covid19 and the wildfires last year. We are working as fast as we can to get caught back up Tyler. You should start seeing them more readily available in the next few months. Best regards This is an email sent to me by gloomis about their nrx rods being out of stock globally. I reached out last week to confirm they had no intention of canceling the line.
  2. I set my drag by hand, and dependent on application. I'm may set the hook with the same strength on a weightless worm texas rigged, and a jig in some slop, but I don't want the hook to pull the worm and fish up to eye level on me.
  3. I can't decide which one. Does anyone have any experience with both/either of these?
  4. I've heard that as well, I interpreted it as you picked a lure that worked so keep fishing it lol.
  5. I use JJ's Magic, personally I'm not entirely sold on the smell attracting more fish, and I rarely need them to hold on longer because hook sets are free. The reason I use JJ's is because it's a dye as well, so I can add colors to my soft plastics to change them to be just different enough than what is typically thrown to the fish by people who all throw the same couple of brands as me in the same areas I do. I believe more in the color difference than I do in the smell difference.
  6. This functions literally the exact same as a bullet weighted texas rig unpegged. I have no idea why this is everywhere recently.
  7. I run 3/0 and 4/0 on anything under 6" anything over 6 gets a 5/0 ewg
  8. Ive had great success with hobby train oil. Runs better than reel oil and kitchen oil in my opinion.
  9. That line is Mono. Mono has memory issues and is hell on the water when using and lure that spins. Adding a swivel to new line if you want to use mono will remove a good majority of the line twist. Changing from mono to braid with a mono or flouro leader and a swivel will also drastically help reduce line twist and any form of memory problems. My suggestion would be a diawa J braid or a power pro 20lb test to a 6lb flouro or mono leader with a swivel that has a bearing. Personally I completely ignore all ratings for line on a rod. Dont be abusive and yank 65lb braid with a medium rod or similiar abusive tendencies and you should be fine for the most part. Having a different size line on a rod than the recommended test is not going to cause the issues youre experiencing. For future knowledge if you use flouro or mono lines and leave them spooled for a good bit of time I suggest buying line conditioner, tying your line to a tree in the yard spray the line and walk it off while keepingyour thumb on the spool or drag light enough to pull without stretching the line but still keeping it tight. Doing this three or four times before a trip will help remove memory and line twist. Some will still exist though, that is the unfortunste trade off with mono and flouro lines and why I exclusively use braid unless its a crankbait rod for debth.
  10. I am right handed. I fish only left handed retreive reels. Holding the rod with my dominate hand made more sense and is more comfortable to me. Especially when fighting heavy hitters like King Salmon on bass rigs with 20lb braid to make the fight harder and longer.
  11. Backpack. Three rods. Medium to medium heavy setup for soft pladtics baby jigs baby spinnerbaits with a fast or ex fadt tip. Heavy rod for bigger jigs spinnerbaits top waters and swim baits. Crankin stick.
  12. You could always contact Mike at Delaware valley tackle. Hes a site sponsor and I can personally vouch for. He may ship to Cananda as he is out of New York. He has shipped to Illinois and Georgia for me.
  13. Yeah I apologize. Ive owned an IMX a long time ago. But I have used a friends imx pro on a few trips and I was underwhelmed that was the rod I have been refering to in my review(the pro). I do have to ask, have you considered a custom rod? In that price point Mike could make you one hell of a cranking stick over at DVT? Thats not far off from what my rainshadow eternity jig and spinnerbait rod cost me.
  14. Ive used at least one rod in the imx glx and rnx lineup. I love the nrx, feel the diffetence between the glx and nrx is neglegible at best so I also love that rod. But when I pick up the IMX series rods for the price point i just feel underwhelmed. I cant put my finger on what the exact one thing it is but believe its the balance between weight and sensitivity.
  15. Champion extreme Dx 704c or dx 705c depending on weights youre looking to fish would be my choice. I dont like the imx lineup from g loomis.
  16. If im fishing in an area with toothy monsters or rock Ill use a flouro leader. I have a tough time buying into bass seeing a green braided line underwater when they think spinning metal blades on a spinnerbait is the scales of a fish.
  17. 1/2oz range I can cast easily 70+ yards. Never do it though unless theres an absolute need to.
  18. Kevlar wrapped fiberglass rods. No composite with graphite. Further information is avaliable on their website as well as their fantastic customer service reps.
  19. From a boat this would be a nightmare. On a calm breezeless day sure. But any type of wake or waves, any wind to blow the line out of the guides or your fingers and youll be ready to buy new reels after an 8 hour trip. From the shore its doable. Youre more stable and can put your back to the wind to help alleviate the issue of it blowing the line around. But ask yourself, how much time do you spend fishing per trip or how much time do you spend per week? Now lets say youre bank fishing and figuring out on average what the fish want takes an hour. You could cut that time in half if you dont have to keep switching one reel from rod to rod. And on the other side you could double that hour to get your first bite because youre spending so much time running line through guides. Is it really worth losing that much of the little time we all get to spend fishing on this planet to save some cash? As a temp solutionion understand a man has to do what a man has to do to catch fish. But long term, how much is your time worth when youre losing it to redo the same process over and over again?
  20. I feel like both are important. I bank fish so casting distance is a hugeeeee factor for me. So naturally I started out leaning towards high end reels. To date I fish shimano cores and chonarch mlgs. But later down the road someone introduced me to this website which introduced me to the world of custom rod building. When I relocated to GA I sold all of my mid level rods keeping the shimano reels. Im rebuilding my entire setup from the ground up through Mike with high end blanks. Right now Mike is working on a wood grip handle rainshadow eternity blank for me. So I guess my point is in the beginning not being as talented as I pretend I am now at casting with a baitcaster a reel was more important. Now that I can cast a blackmax without a backlash, I lean towards rods being more important. So i tend to go high end rod mid level reels.
  21. Oh I know. Thats how I got the custom rod bug. The handle length being custom fit to my arm sold me. Now Ill be buying iwata airbrushes to paint crankbaits I never have time to use lol
  22. I just bought a cheapo airmaster g22 airbrush kit. Its my first airbrush and this weekend will be my first time giving it a whirl. No idea how well its going to work out.
  23. You can also use any self leveling bar top epoxy. I use envirotech lite for my hand made fishing lures for an example.
  24. Looks awesome. I just bought a cheapo airbrush. Ive been handcarving lures and redesigning the profile for a coupleof weeks. Im just waiting for the music wire i ordered to come inthe mail so I can do some eyelets and try my hand at epoxy and airbrushing.
