  1. So I introduced my wife to bed fishing this year for the first time. I got to a nice little cove last week at Saguaro lake, and she's amazed with how clear the water is, and how the bass won't leave the beds. I figure she's just giving me courtesy nods and "oh cools!". She usually humors me by coming, but only for the sun tan and prosecco. So while I'm working a few bed fish in front of the boat, I hear some splashing and commotion, and feel the boat rocking from the back end. Then I see her pull in her first bed fish all on her own! I was so proud. I couldn't believe she caught it all on her own, and even more, couldn't believe she actually listened to my instruction on how to bed fish. I thought she was just being a good wife and listening to me drone on and on and on....
  2. I bought my 2 year old the same little pole and he pulled in a 3 pound channel cat! I have been dreaming about framing a picture with his first fish, and he couldn't even pick the thing up! Kind of a bummer, but still a great time!
  3. I have a pro team 175. I'm not positive on the differences between specs or size, but I am able to comfortably take my wife and son out without an issue. We get around great on it and couldn't be happier.
  4. I bought a Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 last year with a Merc 25 horse on it. It is rated for 40-75 horse motor, but what do you do when you find a nice boat with all kinds of gadgets, a trailer, gps, downscan, and lots of storage for $3k?? So I went for it, and with myself, my wife, and two boys, we top out at about 25 with the right prop. I have found it to be perfectly adequate for me. Obviously a 70 would get me to places a ton faster, but I have never once felt frustrated or slow on it. I get it closer to 30 when I'm out alone. Hope this helps.
  5. Heat isn't all it's cracked up to be. I live in Phoenix and it's been 75 for a month now. Sounds wonderful, but the 120's are on the horizon, and to top that off, desert lakes do not have NEARLY the ecosystem that the north and east have to produce lunkers. Catching a 6 lb bass is practically impossible in my experience out here. I'm definitely hoping that changes, but without frogs and snakes and millions of other critters to fatten up on, our bass stay skinny. That's why Havasu is the only AZ lake on the elite circuit.
  6. Words from a dedicated fisherman!
  7. Me too. Haha. Good thing my boss is a fisherman. Not a bassin freak, but still respects the sport.
  8. I know! One of the best parts is getting to see all their different techniques, and what baits they're using. We all know they lie about what they're really throwing. So it's awesome to see it live, and see what's in their mouths when they pull them in the boat.
  9. That's awesome. You have great parents. Haha!
  10. I gotta say.... The live feed is incredible. They keep switching to camera men on Ike's boat, Howell, Takahiro, and Meuller. Boxes keep popping up that show you the top 5 leaders by weight. Why have they never done this before???
  11. Ohhhhhh boy....... I have no idea how to peel my eyes away. Don't think I'll be getting much done today....
  12. Where in AZ are you river fishing? I'm down in the valley and don't know of any rivers really. Nice fish!
