  1. Any specific depths? We have pounded docks for two days straight and just aren't getting bit!
  2. Alright guys, I'm down here on Smith Mountain for 5 days and only have 3 left. I'm looking for any guidance you guys can give me on this lake for this time of year, we've caught 2 fish in two days and went to a weigh in for a tourney yesterday and watched guys weigh in 15-25 lb sacks. Anything helps locations, baits, depth, specific colors etc. Thanks for any help you guys can provide!
  3. Thanks for the input everyone!
  4. What gear ratio and rod set up would you guys run for carolina rigging? I tried looking it up online and it doesn't really give you a specific ratio or rod to use. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Thanks for the responses everyone! I'll look into everything mentioned and hopefully solve the problem.
  6. Last year, I had problems with my boat's motor. It is a 2001 Skeeter with a 200 horse Yamaha V-Max. Anyways, last year when we were running the big motor on long stretches it would just randomly cut off and stop running. Then in order to get it to start running again, we would have to prime the ball until it was hard again and then it would run for some time then kick off again. We have taken it to a boat shop and they replaced the primer ball as well as the fuel lines but that still didn't solve the problem and they can't figure it out. Has anyone else had this problem or happen to know what could be causing it? I would like to have this fixed before the new season starts up. Thanks a lot for any help you guys can provide!
  7. I planned to get the 8.1 ratio, that's what got me excited about it was the higher ratio. The only thing that is holding me back on buying it is the new silver Lew's Lite with the cork handles that comes in 7.5:1 ratio. Wouldn't that reel be just as good and it looks so much nicer!
  8. Would the Lews Super Duty be a sufficient reel for my flipping and pitching stick or is there a better Lews reel out there for the job?
  9. For you guys that have used both, if you had to pick between the two, which would you choose? I thought I was locked in on the Veritas but then these Fenwick's caught my eye.
  10. Has anyone used this reel at all yet? How smooth is it and have you had any complaints with it? It's the silver one with the partial cork grips! Thanks
  11. One last thing I forgot, what shaft length do I want? On the lakes I fish I mainly pound the shallows flipping and pitching but am looking to expand this year and fish deeper a little bit.
  12. Alright so the bigger the better is what I'm getting, I'll see if we can squeeze the 36 volt and the 112 lb. Fortrex. Thanks for the help guys
  13. My trolling motor took a crap just before season ended last year therefore I am now in the market for a new one. I am pretty much set on the Minn Kota Fortrex but wanted to get some other recommendations from anglers as it is a large expense and I don't want to make the wrong choice. My boat is a 2001 21 ft. Skeeter with a 200 horse Yamaha outboard. Aside from trolling recommendations, is 80 lb. thrust pretty solid or do you guys recommend putting in a 3rd battery and moving up to the 112 lb. model? Thanks
  14. One more question then, has anyone used both the Veritas and the Veracity(red)? Is the Veracity noticeably better then the Veritas?
  15. Ok thanks for the input guys! I knew a lot of guys liked them just wanted to see if anyone had any bad reviews or downfalls of them.
  16. I'm looking to upgrade all my rods before this spring and was wondering if you guys think the Veritas is a good enough rod to satisfy all types of fishing? I will be purchasing a flipping/pitching stick, crankbait, worm and jig, spinnerbaits/vibrating jigs, jerkbaits/ topwaters and lastly a shaky head/drop shot rod. Do you guys think the Veritas has the right sensitivity and feel to be a nice Rod for these applications? Given I'll be buying the right power and action for each type of lure I'll be using.
