  1. Well I got spinnerbait rod number 2 and I went with the same Kaden 714 I have been using. It accurately casts the 1/4 to 1/2 ounce baits I toss and I know it has the power to keep them from wrapping me around a reed. The avid I was using was inaccurate with a sidearm cast with 1/4 ounce spins, so if I need a third spinnerbait rod that will get the nod for the heavier baits. Yes, I to have a spinnerbait problem. A few years ago I would likely only carry 3 rods in the boat, and now it’s 3 for just spinnerbaits plus the other rods.
  2. My recent creation DS. Some skirts and spinnerbaits.
  3. For smallies I have used a bunny bugger, rabbit dub and hair off a zonker strip for the tail. For largies for a very small sample size a zudler worked well for mr
  4. So thanks to a couple of purchases this year the bait monkey had lure parts online and Barlows send me catalogs to arrive on the same day to tempt me to stock up on stuff I need and also stuff I didn’t know I need! I know paper catalogs are old school, but for me I can see everything they have much easier and faster than the website.
  5. I think it was a little over 12 hours for mine to show up.
  6. Along with the Rico deal, don't sleep on the TW gift card deal. Just got a duplicate Dobyns Kaden rod for spinnerbaits for just under 137 out of pocket with the gift card deal. Since my pre tax was under 150 I won't be getting the Rico's which is fine by me. So still some good deals on the site to be had.
  7. It's not just you. I did really good for a while with SK bleeding bait spins, till I found War Eagle baits and the thinner wire war eagles way out fished the SK baits which had thicker wire. Then this summer I had a War Eagle tied on and the Father in law had a bait I made tied on with a unique blade combo and out fished me 5 to 1. I was happy (my creation caught them) and torqued at the same time because I hate being out fished lol. In my fishing I have found blade combos #1 and wire size #2 in importance. So I guess I would be in favor of you changing out the rear blade because they see tons of double willows:)
  8. Last spinnerbaits before I get a restock on frames and components. Really looking forward to ball bearing swivels with the split rings already on them. one for me and one for the father in law as a gift. Really liking the skirt on these. Picked up a 5 pack of these pre made firetiger skirts. 1/2 ounce spins #3 Indiana and #5 Colorado.
  9. The beads by the clevises are glass, which so far have worked. I have 800 metal beads sitting under the Christmas tree right now, so new builds in the future will be with metal. I just measured the triple and there is 1/4” to the R bend. If the lead blade doesn’t spin I will pull it off and just go with a double. Then I will have to try another and not trim any wire of to get the right spacing.
  10. Made 3 1/4 spins, 2 for me and one to gift. Really looking forward to trying the triple wide willow. A 1/2 ounce version of the triple wide willow was really good to me this year.
  11. I have done well with the 6th sense provoke and the shadow rap family. I have the Jackall ReRange but haven’t had the success others have had with it yet.
  12. I use it in both clear and stained water. I honestly think it covers forage across the country from having a little bit of perch in it and honestly a lot bit of pumpkinseed in it as well.
  13. That works. I caught something in the email preview but not in the email itself. For me I have one or two items in mind that hopefully I will recieve enough gifts to cover. Otherwise I will wait to the spring. Truck repairs and other gifts slowed down my ability to talk the wife into order a couple of fishing rods for christmas/promotion gift to me lol.
  14. TW just dropped 10% off gift cards.
  15. I lean towards the RES because it seems to run a lot deeper than a trap when fishing the 10-12 foot weedlines. For some reason the traps run higher in the water column than the RES. Shallow I have been using other brands so I guess the trap has fallen out of favor in my boat.
  16. I have used them casting to the edges of reed beds and done really well with the 1/4 RES. It was spring time so perhaps the bass were filling up on smaller baitfish. I haven't used it a lot outside of this scenario though.
  17. Everyone does that now, where the label is printed and then you don't see a product ship for a day or 3. Seen this on both fishing stuff and general stuff I ordered for the wife as gifts the last year or so. Very annoying but it is the new normal.
  18. As for spinnerbait brands, I buy the frames and use blade combos not commercially available. I can go in behind people fishing even the best brands and pick up fish they miss. I think on some waters fish are weary of certain blade combinations. I have even swapped out some blades on my war eagles and increased the catch rate. That said I have bought baits like the war eagle finesse and humdinger double indiana spins and done well. It seems double willow and colorado willow are very common baits the fish are seeing all the time. I used to do well with SK bleeding bait spins, but found thinner wire War Eagles outproduced them 5 to 1. You just need to be ready to regularly bend the frame back into shape and even netting every fish helps the baits last longer. @Munkin and @smalljaw67 know a lot more than me. Sorry for the hijack I loved spins in the past but went away from them for a while and have learned a ton in the last year or so building my own.
  19. I have two. Drop shot in the reeds. This worked really well for me one year and I have never gone back to it, not sure why. Topwater, This has been awful for me. Last year saw bass busting fish on the surface so I threw on an LC gunfish and had a fish on the first cast. 30 minutes later working the cover with bass still busting the surface zero hits on the bait. I just need to throw them more to learn the whens and the whys. Bonus lure is a bladed jig, I have the same number of Musky on one as bass, one. I have no clue why these suck for me. It is so hard to do the above though when the spinnerbait bite is on.
  20. Never been caught without my license, but once I didn't have my wallet with my drivers license and they were doing on the water boat checks. There was a moment or two I thought my lack of a drivers license was going to be an issue, but they couldn't really do anything because I had my fishing license and it isn't illegal to drive and not carry your drivers license on you, just not smart to do so.
  21. I did it. The bass bait monkey didn’t get me for any bass lures! Musky bait monkey got me today with 6 double 8’s inlines, 1 double 9 in-line, and a t shirt for under 80. Don’t see many half off musky lure deals.
  22. That carrier is plastic. The neoprene rod sleeve would go on the rod, and then I place the rod along with 7 or 9 other rods in the rod carrier. The rod carrier then sits on the floor of the boat 4 hours each way to the vaca lake. Guessing the trailer isn’t the smoothest of rides. my irrational fear is the heavier neoprene material would snap a tip as they flex during the bumpy ride. I have had the neoprene rod covers for like 3 years and been afraid to use them for this reason.
  23. Jades Jigs sale from Instagram. I have bought enough from them the last year or so to last a few seasons;) Good people and great jigs.
