  1. Wow I use a lot depending on the conditions. River crème micro craw, spinnerbait. Short season due to shoulder surgery. Up North Too many as it was a weird bite. One day my father in law whacked them pretty decent on a 1/2 orange craw RES. The next day I got 46 on a 1/4 orange craw RES and they wouldn’t touch his 1/2 orange craw RES, weird. Spinnerbaits, but again it was weird where 1/4 ounce baits worked and then all bites stopped till I switched to a 1/8 ounce spin. First standout was #7 shallow flicker Shad, and the hero bait was a big bite water red craw tube. I think I caught fish on like 20 other baits. Despite the picky fish I ground out a record number of largies for me in a week. local lakes Spinnerbaits were my go to. Small lake was a 1/4 ounce and larger lake was a 3/8 booyah when they wouldn’t look at my home made baits.
  2. So if I see a deal on Fireline I should buy a lifetime supply then.
  3. Well I have joined the Omnia group with the Pro deal, and have really been branching out the last couple of years. Will see how I like it.
  4. Jades Jigs will be doing a sale.
  5. Well TW's sale was a bust for me because I would have had to spend 150, stuff I wanted was spread across 3 different weeks to get 40ish bucks worth of stuff, father in law would have spent to get over 50. So that BaitWRx sale bit me and I will get this stuff at some point as a gift from the wife. I just couldn't pass up the Menace grubs for 3.40 a pack, the Frittside Jr's I have wanted to try for a while now and the S waver is a musky/bass bait. The mono is backing line for spinning and BC reels. I am just about out and that was a really good price for backing line. I am doing my part to drag the industry down after years of helping them out. I should liquidate some stuff, but I always end up looking for it a few years later to try, so now I just spend less.
  6. I agree with others about the depth the 6th sense bait runs, the only issue I have had with it, is that it is a bit difficult to start once in a while. I generally cast it and start retrieving right away and once in a while it does a goofy thing on the surface. It is really a nice option to have to give them a different look than a standard jerkbait.
  7. If I can slightly hijack this thread, what are the pros of a wire tied skirt? Is it just that they last longer or are there more? The one pro I have taken advantage of with the banded skirts is the ability to change colors quickly on the water.
  8. Well hopefully it works out for them and others on the boards. I personally just don’t have enough to order this year to make it work. Funny thing is I rarely took advantage of the gift card thing.
  9. I have no choice but to be out. My order was for roughly 50 bucks worth of stuff like jigs, some swimbaits, and a crankbait. Those fall in 3 different cycles. I will just be getting other things for Christmas or checkout Siebert. If I can get the live chat again I may ask if this is gonna work like the 25 days, nope just read it is only one week at a time. The 25 days sale was nice that the prices held till the end. IMO they are just getting greedy, maybe sales are down who knows what the reason behind it is.
  10. @Glenn Please take this down if it hits any of the rules, but I believe that many will find this interesting.
  11. Tackle Warehouse, looks like for a week 20-94% off on Jigs, Jigheads, and Terminal Tackle. I am going to do a live chat with them when possible and find out what is going on.
  12. In the past they not only had the best selection, but they had the best prices and it wasn't really close. Now there prices are more in line with BPS and for Rage products, Siebert Outdoors has much better prices now.
  13. Not a worm, but I have gotten a lot of mileage out of a 5" Kalins single tail grub. Super versatile bait. It pairs nicely with a swim jig.
  14. Do we know that is what they are doing? I have a relatively small but varied order to give to my father in law to order for a christmas gift. if it all can't be purchased on sale in the same order then they lose my business. If the Halloween sale was the start of this, they may have lost me forever as a customer, not that they or anyone else cares. Them continually bumping prices by a buck on some of the items I had on my list is leaving a sour taste too when other places aren't doing that. I am at the point in my tackle journey, that I only need to spend 100 or less a year on tackle, unless a reel or rod breaks. I think I have defeated the bait monkey:)
  15. For my river smallmouth fishing, matching the hatch absolutely matters. Over the years I have used the 2.75" yum crawbug with both claws on the bait and it still continually gets bit. Since it is a small system, you start to recognize fish that have taken the same bait before. It appears that this bait matches the real thing enough that the fish aren't conditioned to it, and I have fished this system for over 15 years now. Interestingly if one of the claws are bitten off, that bait will no longer get hit, if I use the 3.5" size the bites plummet. It seems the smaller crawbug better matches the size of the craws that are available to the fish. Fishing largemouth on clear water lakes, I do vary the colors I use depending on light penetration below the surface. Smoke and natural colors when bright below the surface and water red when dimmer below the surface, either due to wave action or overcast skies. There I think about color and not the shape of the bait.

So last week while trying to find the ozark trail jerkbait that a pike borrowed from me on a short trip, I found at least one good deal. One store had none of the jerkbaits, but did have some roboworm 4.5 and 6" worms on sale for either 2.50 or 3 a bag. I got some 4.5" Bold Gill and morning dawn chartreuse for 2.50 a bag. Then we passed through the town where I originally found the jerkbait, still had them so I grabbed 5. I know people bash the hooks on the cheap baits, but at least a couple had what appeared to be an eagle claw sticker on it. The one I lost I thought the hooks were fine, but might have to replace at some point. The bait just had a nice slow rise, and I hope the rest of them perform the same.
  17. I have most of my blades and components in a Edge Flex 3700 box and it allowed me to make 2 bigger compartments for wire frames. I put like 5 each of the different types of frames I have. This box goes with me on my week long fishing trip, but stays in the cabin. Between trips I can either tweak blade combos or make new baits. I will carry some skirts in the boat though. If you want I can add a picture tonight when home.
  18. I have the 3700 Jig box, and while I hated it for jigs, I removed 2 of the holders and spaced the 3 remaining evenly and I have been using it as a spinnerbait box. I even ordered a second for the same purpose, yes I carry way too many spinnerbaits. The 3700 flex box does work great for my spinnerbait making components, because I created spots to hold blades, beads, etc, but also 2 bigger spots to hold the wire frames I use. That said at the price point, I would need a very specific reason to buy another.
  19. One really jumps out, the Berkley #7 Flicker shad shallow. This bait caught a bunch of fish for me on a late spring early summer N. WI outing. My father in-law was on the same lake mid august and it was the go to bait then too. I thought it was just a cooler water or post frontal bait, but it appears just to be a fish catcher. Of course I now own like 8 of them;)
  20. Since I fish slider pro heads, I cut off a rigged bait and keep the rigged baits in a couple of shoebox sized totes with holes cut in the bottom for drainage. Over the years this has worked really well for me and I lose very few hooks due to rust, mostly cheap jigheads. With the cost of some plastics now, they are worth more than the hook or jig and just the act of unrigging them could make them less reliable when rerigged. When fishing a Rage Menace or Arsenal Assault bug I expect to get 10-20 largies per bait. If fishing smallies, I generally get way less fish per bait. I know its debatable, but it seems that a roughed up bait can get a lot more bites than a fresh one.

I always look and sometimes find some good deals. Also noticed they are starting to carry some better brands, adding 6th sense baits is the most recent. The issue is it is still basically 1 aisle so on a lot of baits only 1 or 2 colors for each style. I stay away from the bargain bin plastics because I can just reshop in may basement for all the bargain bin plastics I just had to have.
  22. My biggest issue with it is that say if you choose Strike king under shop brands, they would have the baits listed by different categories, like lipless, jerkbaits, topwater, flipping baits, creatures, etc. This was super useful when searching for baits. Now you get one baits category and they seem to have no order to them and it is all the plastics, crankbaits, etc under that one heading. So it does appear that they have at least for now put them back into an order that makes sense, but they are still all listed as baits. I only checked the SK brand.
  23. The worst part is clicking on the brands. SK for example had the baits broken up into many categories which was super helpful. Now it is just baits, and almost seems worse than BPS because they made the images so large that there is a lot of scrolling needed to see everything.
  24. Of the icast baits I was really interested in this one topped the list and I have yet to see any sites promoting it with a release date. Has anyone heard what the release date for this bait will be? I think this bait will be great when I fish around reed beds next year rigged on a slider head.
  25. Curious, I am posting now from my work computer that has VPN setup to access network drives at work when working remotely. Should I not be using that computer to post? Until my latest thread I would have never seen this because I live on the tackle thread.
