  1. I have some of their tubes and they are overpowering. I will say those crappie nibbles were my start with scent like 27 years ago when we fished a lake that had tons of crappie. I didn't realize that they still made them. I am glad that they went away from the red color that was in the originals, I still have some. That color would stain shirts and probably boat carpet too.
  2. Liquid Mayhem here for years and Atlas Mikes before that. Both Gel scents. My case for it. Was fishing with the father in law for an hour, I had at least 5 bass to his zero strikes on plastics. Got him to try scent without changing baits, and he had hits within 5 casts and landed his first fish within a couple of minutes. He was on the road to believing in it, and it happening a second time for him closed the deal. For him it wasn't a confidence thing, because he wasn't a believer in it at that point.
  3. After having some success with a big bite line through swimbait last year I am upping my soft swimbait game. Already bought some of the new Rapala 4” paddle tail swimbaits, hadn’t planned on it, but saw them at a store, some Largo Shad’s and a 6” mag draft. Need to get some 5” spark Shad’s and some beast coast baits too. Saw a video on the Nessie and it didn’t look half bad and maybe the cull shad. I know the Berkley baits are copies, but I can afford them. I did pick up an S waver I will work with too. Trying to not let this get too expensive.
  4. Well I got the Swimbait hooks from Omina on a good deal. Then the next day Berkley stuff went on sale. Instead of buying 2-3 of a new lure I decided to try just one. I really like the 6th sense hyperjerk, but it runs high in the water column. I really hope the finisher will have a similar action lower in the water column. The profile of the bait is much thinner though. Then tonight I saw the new Rapala swimbaits at farm and fleet so I picked up two packages of 4” baits to give them a go.
  5. By the time I went to order the cull shads were gone and luckily I was able to order one of the Finisher jerkbait things. I know it is a FFS bait, but I have liked the 6th sense hyperjerk, but feel it sometimes it runs to high, hoping the finisher has a similar action but runs lower in the water column. So lesson learned on these sales order quickly if looking at popular items.
  6. Have you tried big 6" Swimbaits for bass up there? Just seems that my big N WI bass have all come on smaller lures. My vacation lake isn't that much further N than where you all are at.
  7. Same, that is the issue. I tried to get some jig heads during the terminal tackle sale, but they lumped them in with the bass jigs so I just got three packs of hooks. The hyper focused sales put you in a box, so glad I signed up for the pro thing. The only temptation is a Cull Shad, but I already have a mag draft to try, and I am not convinced the N WI bass want swimbaits that big and the will just get toasted by toothy critters. I also have a hyper focused list of soft swimbaits, swimbait hooks and jigs, and jerkbaits. All part of my plan to beat the monkey.
  8. So with this Omina Pro thing, I feel bad using it to buy 1 berkley bait and having them ship it to me. Am I being silly and just go ahead and order it? The crazy part is I did a 14 dollar 3 item terminal order yesterday.
  9. Throw me in the camp of never catching a largemouth on a chatterbait, and I have really tried.
  10. The only way that I have done it is with a hydro flo box in the kayak. Like others have said, I never put cranks or terminal tackle in the same row as plastics. The movable dividers never fit well enough to keep the oils or scent on the plastics from getting underneath.
  11. I use my trusty old berkley lip gripper for pike. They have the nastiest slime coat, gross, smelly, and slick, on them that is easily damaged. That said I have almost ended up with a broken wrist getting a bait out. They are probably the only fish crazier than a smallie. Great video, I got a few laughs and hope the poop cleaned up;)
  12. You all have the trophy Muskys up there too. Nothing like watching a musky on the fringes or slightly over 50 casually swim off with your jerkbait, twice months apart. I honestly think that they are just screwing with us. I have seen a big Musky go crocodile on my wife and I and leisurely swim with its eyes out of the water past our boat. Pike at least go absolutely insane, even after or more so, when you get the lip gripper on them. A good pike bite can be a lot of fun.
  13. For jerkbaits do you use a moderate rod as well? I know you fish a lot of smallies. I have used a moderate rod for so long that I have accuracy issues with a true fast or extra fast. I fly fish too, so that may help the accuracy with a moderate rod, which potentially should be less accurate.
  14. That is what they recommended I try mentioned that it was knotable. Glad to hear a second, good, opinion on it. It is on my list to pick up to give a go this year, and the bonus is that it is rather inexpensive and available locally. Also good catch that I linked the wrong stuff.
  15. Having lost too many jerkbaits to trophy class musky and some pike I still am holding out on buying these. When I was talking to some guys at are local shop, they have said that they use this stuff with good results with the one tens. I am sure it slightly changes the action, but they still catch fish and don't go through 100s of dollars of jerks a year. https://www.muskyshop.com/collections/lines-leaders-parts/products/line-leaders-leader-making-american-fishing-wire-surflon Fixed the link to what A-Jay uses. I looked on TW the site sponsor that I know used to carry something similar, but I couldn't find it. The didn't have a leader material category. I believe in straight braid for jerkbaits, but do use a moderate action rod with the braid. I personally feel this combination helps keep the fish buttoned and the moderate rod gives some forgiveness especially with unpredictable smallies or muskies. Braid on a fast or extra fast rod, unless it is a dobyns, is likely going to lose you some fish. At this point, 90 percent of my BC rods are moderate.
  16. The Menace grub. It seems to be getting less hits than in the past, not sure why. With the bite up north being ultra sensitive, I used less spins till I switched to a 1/8 from a 1/4 ounce bait. The weirdest was one day the father in law slayed them one on the 1/2 ounce orange craw RES, and the next day he couldn’t buy a bite on it. I dragged out a 1/4 ounce orange craw RES while he was blanking and got 46 fish on it. Next day that bite was dead lol. Despite this I ended up with a record number of largies that week.
  17. Tubes. Had always done well with them in the past, but was missing some water red tubes and really hadn’t fished them much since I found the menace grub. So I bought a 100 pack of the big bite water red craw tube and caught the heck out of them this year. second is a 1/4 ounce RES. A bait I had done well with in the past and I had a 46 fish day with one this year.
  18. My wife stopped at Walmart today and picked up some glitter for me to try.
  19. Well I got my first Omina order, a single spool of the sunrise 10 lb 832 to try on spinning reels. I liked the color, but since I already have 5 spools of 30 lb, I didn’t grab this color for my casting rods. my wife also found me some glitter to put on spinnerbait blades.
  20. If I had to guess it was the ALF post, which at times as had the dreaded ****. I have only shopped there once but it was a positive experience. I know why you can’t post the naughty list, but sometimes we have zero clue we crossed a line and it is unintentional and we know that list fluctuates Heck I stupidly asked you to delete my account once a long time ago because I couldn’t determine if a store was safe to order from, glad you didn’t listen:) only feature request would be to turn the filter off in PMs. Unless people spammed members there as well in the past, then an obvious no go.
  21. So I am new to Omnia and have the credit, how does the ambassador survey thing work, was it emailed? I am always game for a better discount and 832 is my go to line after years of using power pro. With this deal was going to try it on a spinning reel too.
  22. Thank you and I will likely try all ideas. I totally forgot about the hard as nails which I have from fly tying. Mostly trying to get some purple glitter on my purple haze spins. For some reason purple is a magic color for clear water.
  23. I have a few nichols spins that have glitter on the blades, and it got me to thinking that I would like to do that on a few of mine. The question becomes how do you get it on the blade so that it won't come off. I thought of buying the glitter glues, but figured that the glue would be water based and wouldn't hold up.
  24. Used to be the trigger X tube that well if you know you know, writing about the design would make a few giggle and likely offend someone. I tried to replace it with the swing oil J tube, but nothing special. This year I bought a 100 pack of the big bite craw tube, which is similar if I cut the claw parts off. I fished them this summer and they were spectacular with the craw bits on. weight for fishing down to 7 feet a Pro classic 1/4 spider head. I never have rigged a tube internally. while the above two tubes were spectacular, pretty much all the brands I have tried have caught bass. It’s pretty hard to screw up a tube.
  25. That holds true for me as well, but it seems that the dozen lures I may throw each outing changes. So maybe over 20 years everything will get used once.
