  1. I want to add that just because you buy a quality bait it may get out fished by the cheaper Wally World bait due to wire diameter etc. This summer my co angler had a War Eagle I gave him tied on and I had a good strike king tied on, and I got out fished 3 to 1. I love War Eagles but they don’t last long, the bass were even bending the thicker wire strike kings. It was one of those frontal bites where you get less hits, but the ones you get are monsters. I now carry multiple brands, SK, War Eagle, Booyah, and H and H, Seibert, to dial myself into a bite. I agree pricier baits are better, especially the swivels, but the cheap ones may win the day sometimes. I am not sure what brand you fish, but if I get more than 20 fish on a spinnerbait I consider myself lucky. Brands like War Eagle are less than that, but on average put more fish in the boat for me most days.
  2. Mostly the pro slider heads with the heavier hook. The ones with the larger 3/0 hook. I do use the light wire 2/0 hooked spider head for baits like the small yum crawbug and the baby menace.
  3. So I compared the dual hardcore flat SP and the Yo Zuri and there are quite a few differences as can be seen in the pictures. The dual has a magnet holding the weights middle picture, where the Yo zuri uses a different channel design to hold them. The yo zuri bait also has some mini bbs that the dual doesn’t top picture. Lastly the tail is weighted on the dual. The body shape looks identical other than some differences in the Gill section which makes sense since it is a different mold anyways.
  4. Biggest Largemouth this summer was on a water Red Arsenal Assault Bug on a 1/4 ounce slider pro spider head. Was really impressed with the durability of this bait and it may replace the menace for me. Do wish they had a smaller version too. Smallie was on a water silver, I dyed a clear silver bait, Producto Tourney grub on a Siebert Morel head.
  5. Picked up 2 300 yard spools of 10 lb Fireline that will spool up 10 reels for me so like A 5-10 year supply since the stuff lasts forever. Also a Dual Hardcore Flat SP that I will compare to the Yu-Zuri version to see if they are the same. I do like Ayu colored baits so hoping this one will be a winner. I had some Trapper Tackle trebles in my cart but couldn’t get myself to buy them and got the jerk instead. Also put the Zippo hand warmer picked up over the weekend to help me keep dexterity in my fingers when fishing in cold weather.
  6. I guess I got lucky then, some on here told me to look to Ebay for Ned heads and I found Jade's Jigs that has some gopher like heads on their non ebay site fairly cheap and all lead free. Other than that the last thing we bought on ebay was beanie babies when they were a thing like 20 years ago lol.
  7. While I haven’t used the 3 packs of worms I have had for years I have become a big fan of the Ned worms. They have worked really well for me especially in clear water scenarios.
  8. Guessing it has more to do with the Covid situation. Took a long time to get 2 spools of 10 lb fireline and a jerkbait shipped out. Guessing they are running with very limited staff. There is a stimulus? We didn't get our original checks for like 6 months, if there was another one we may see it in time for the memorial day sale if lucky?
  9. While I haven't tested fishing product, my real job is testing hardware and software for the scientific community. It takes a special mindset to test stuff and it is surprisingly hard to find people that can think like that, and we try and hold on to them when we find them. Doing a review is one thing, trying to explain to someone that the baits action is just not right and how it isn't right is very difficult. So I can totally believe the 99% number. Maybe I should switch fields and go work for Berkley, Strike King, or Rapala;)
  10. I think some smaller companies let their field staff try out new lures before release for input, but generally by that point they may be pretty close to production. It also depends on the product too, as some may not need a lot of field testing when so much can be done in a tank now.
  11. I have 4 in my spinnerbait box that I have never thrown. The double hook kept me from using them. I should see if I can rig a single hook on them and give them a toss or use them on the river where the double hook won’t be a problem.
  12. During the season I have 2 Rubbermaid shoe plastic boxes with holes drilled in the bottom and I leave my slider and other jig head rigged plastics in there, sorted by color. Generally at the end of the season I unrig most of them, but I rarely have any rusting issues due to the material the hooks are made of, and have some baits that have been rigged for 2-3 years. It is just so easy to have a variety of baits rigged up on deck, helps me to be more efficient on the water.
  13. Pretty much anything. Tubes, menaces, arsenal assault bugs, gambler ugly otters, and Kalins 5” single tail to name a few of my personal favorites. Also some finesse worms too, but the lighter wire hooks do work better for those.
  14. The spider head which is a bullet shape. I haven’t used a worm weight in 20ish years. Luckily my plastic targets are shallower so the 1/4 ounce is enough weight for my needs.
  15. I would definitely agree with jerkbaits, but also think Texas rigged plastics, on slider heads for me. fishing on vacation over the years I have found that each year it takes a little something different to trigger them. Some years it’s the drop, or letting it sit, or subtly shaking it in place on bottom, and on and on. There are so many different ways to retrieve them it can give you a headache figuring out which way they want it retrieved that day or minute.
  16. I used them in upper win water temps that would have likely been mid to upper 60s with multiple cold fronts during the week on vaca. Not sure what you would consider that temp.
  17. Extra fast rods and fast rods. Maybe in the days of mono they would have been good, but a more moderate action suits my fishing style a lot better and imo helps keep the fish buttoned a little better. It is getting very difficult to find moderate action rods anymore. Thankfully Dobyn's run a little softer than other brands so I can live with there fast in my M and ML Sierra spinning rods. St. Croix on the other hand fast and extra fast really flex way up the tip and harder to cast accurately with lures on the light end of the rating. I will say my moderate MH St. Croix premier casting rod is a dream rod for me. Full disclosure I fish Suffix 832 30lb or Power Pro 50 lb on my BC's, some with a flouro leader and fireline 10 or 20 lb on my spinning setups with a flouro leader. The line choice puts me into a more moderate action. I will say I have some old Cabela's prodigy rods that aren't the most sensitive in the world, but the flex is just about perfect in all 3 of them. I have replaced two of the 3 with more sensitive rods, but the 3rd is my spinnerbait swim jig rod where sensitivity is less of a need.
  18. Mine is maybe a 5 stage Stage 1 Backstock to fill bags Stage 2 river/creek shore bag Cabelas 3500 green bag that alternates trout and bass gear Stage 3 3700 hydro flow box with a handful of river and lake baits for the kayak. Stage 4 3600 size cabelas bag for cranks and shoe box of rigged plastics for local lakes with boat. Stage 5 magnum cabelas bag and a couple of KVD Plano speed bags for bagged plastics plus a 3500 Plano terminal tackle bag. Plus incidentals like line and energy drinks for morning trips. Stage 5 is my baby lol
  19. I have one 6 and a couple of 10 quart boxes full. One is mostly menace baits with a few other brands of similar styles. I have bought in bulk over the years on baits that work when on sale. That works until I find the next hot bait and stop using them lol. Only plastics I bought this year were arsenal assualt bugs because I used up my one bag last year I bought to try and some Yum pulses because I didn’t have a lot of soft swim baits. I am getting smarter in theory as I age.
  20. Seeing this I understand our different opinions on conserving plastics. I have a little more back stock than you to fall back on.
  21. I think you are right about Kmart. Ours had a decent fishing section from what I can remember but that was a long time ago. I think I have some tequila sunrise and red Shad left as well. I have a couple chartreuse ones left that probably won’t see water.
  22. I remember watching a game when he was with the Bulls and crazy Bill was calling the game and criticizing his coverage of Shaq, like who could effectively cover him in his prime much less a lighter shorter guy. That guy was an amazing player and never got the credit he deserved. To worms Rattlesnake (wally world brand) 4" chartreuse sparkle ribbon tail This was money on a jighead and I wish I could find more or the same worm and color in a different brand. Netbait slim shake, very similar to a zoom swamp crawler but man this bait was super durable. Netbait finesse worm in water Jelly That's it as I don't fish worms too much even though I own a ton of finesse worms
  23. I like the storage tote and 3700 box route, so my wife doesn't shut down the credit card on me;) The peg board would end me up in bait monkey counseling lol.
  24. Thank you for all the replies. I ultimately passed and went with the Dou Realis Flat Jerk in a color that is not in the Yo Zuri line, Bluebasser says they are the same bait. Some of the reservations from above just kept me from keeping them in the cart along with that I bought some KVD trebles last year that I have yet to use. Will I regret not getting them, unsure because terminal tackle always loses in my TW cart.
  25. https://www.menards.com/main/storage-organization/garage-outdoor-organizers/freestanding-shelving-units/midwest-manufacturing-reg-freestanding-shelving-unit-end-frame/1363206/p-1444448753030-c-12652.htm?tid=-6343010649356892142&ipos=40 We have used these in our basement and they work great. We have been using the same brackets and boards for over 20 years and they have moved with us to a third house lol. The height works with the standard storage totes, believe they are the 18 gallon ones, they sell.
