  1. Couple weeks ago fishing a tournament. Before we launched the tournament organizer had a meeting to discuss the rules. Evidently he had people culling dead fish, so the meeting was to clarify that you cannot indeed cull dead fish. As we were walking away my partner says "we don't have to worry about that, we never have a fish die". An hour later he puts a 4# in the live well. She died within minutes. (she didn't look healthy at all from the moment he caught her. We fished for hours without another bite. Finally with a couple hours left in the tournament he hooks up with another good keeper. This fish is really lively banging around in the live well. After about 30 minutes he hooks up with a giant. He was man handling the fish a good bit and just as I was about to yell "give it some drag" the fish pulled off. He sits down collects his thoughts and he says. "I better check on this other fish, its not banging anymore" He opens the live well to check and this fish jumps out of the live well, he dives for the fish and hurts his knee, the fish flopped one time and went into the water. We fished about another 30 minutes and decided to put the boat up and call it a day. Still it was a good day fishing because I wasn't at work.
  2. They should be by this weekend!
  3. We have been using the pattern Dale mentioned with the red crawl colors near ledges and points and it has worked pretty well for it to still be cold. The weather has warmed up here but now it has rained all week and will probably be muddy this weekend.
  4. Man, that is pretty good temp. I thought maybe you had a cold snap or something. I went out on Guntersville on the 4th which was the day before the full moon and we were fishing 43-47 and we did pretty good. My kid caught one that was close to 6. We were using red cranks sitting in about 25 throwing in 4-8 ticking the grass and stopping. I know you are in GA but you would think the weather impacts would be similar.
  5. Sounds about like every trip to the water for me these days. What was your water temp?
  6. It has rained here all week and it will be raining Saturday as well. I know the pattern has been throwing red cranks or rattle baits. Now the water temp should be up 10 or so degrees from the last week of Feb when it was 41-43 degree. On the 4th we did ok fishing ledges next to the channel. I am wondering what you guys think will happen if the water is upper 40's and dirty? Thanks!
  7. I haven't been bass fishing very long or I should say I haven't been really serious about learning how to do it right. I have a 12 year old that absolutely loves to bass fish but I never developed the foundation as a young man for bass fishing. Growing up my dad always pan-fished or catfished. After I left for the army he got into it a good bit but I never really learned. Now that my son is older and he wants to do it, I want to do it. I am sure I will post a lot of questions as I go. Thanks!
