  1. It was my first baitcaster. Still in the rotation three years later. Has caught me some nice fish.
  2. One more good point about a net, considering the majority of bass fishermen are catch-and-release, scooping a fish with a net can decrease the length of the fight and, therefore, the stress on the fish. I like healthy fish. I use a net on anything over 1-2 pounds.
  3. Or, try your hand at translating a thank you into Japanese. See how that turns out...
  4. Spro glide65 in pumpkinseed, black on black cavitron buzzbait.
  5. The best thing for you to do, for versatility, is spool your reel with 10-20# braided line, then get a couple spools of fluorocarbon or copolymer in different strengths and probably one of heavier monofilament and change leaders based on situation. If you're going to be set on one rod, that would make it very versatile. Or you could also just go and get another inexpensive spinning set-up. But then, again, I would do what I mentioned above.
  6. Bassresource member A-jay steered me towards the Rage craw. First time out you'll know why. I've caught 4 times as many fish on the Rage craw than anything else. In very clear water.
  7. I normally say, "There's a fish. That's a fish." As an affirmation that I didn't hook the bottom.
  8. I think that federal and state natural resource agencies, and people in general, are really trying to get away from non-native species in any habitat. I bet that the Sumatran Tiger would thrive in the jungles of Louisiana but I don't think it's a good idea to have them there. That pesky "invasive" word...
  9. I guess it just never occurred to me to try to remember where I was casting from and where I was casting to, so I could measure it on a map, when I could just see how far an average, easy cast went in my backyard and then pace off the distance. Seems pretty logical to me.
  10. Most people say that you can use nearly any lure with a spinning rig that you do with a baitcasting one. Some are just better suited to one or another. I've fished everything from weightless Texas rigs to hollow-bodied frogs to Zara spooks with spinning rigs. I don't anymore, but that doesn't mean you can't do it. And I second the President. Great reel, not terribly expensive.
  11. We're getting a DSG in the fall. Can't wait until I have a second option that is better than wal-mart.
  12. Knowing the length of your stride will do that for you, and probably more accurately. At least for short distances.
  13. Having been in the shipping/delivery/logistics business for some time, I can answer that. The operative word there is "priority". If you have one customer schedule a delivery for two weeks out, as a business you're going to worry about the customer that schedules their delivery in two days first. That's the way she goes, Bubs.
  14. If you consider that most women in the 1500s looked somewhere between Rosie O'Donnell and Steve Buscemi, relatively, Mona was a knockout.
  15. What are you doing, tying your iPhone on your line? How are you measuring casting distance with Google earth?
  16. Depends. Spinning either/or, baitcast, for me it's suicide casting into the wind. I don't have time to calibrate the reel when the wind kicks up, I just roll with it.
  17. Comparing length is a slippery slope for dudes... But I'm super average. And an average cast for this average angler averages about 30-40 yards. On average.
  18. I got over two feet between Sunday and Monday in Northern Michigan. So it's on it's way.
  19. Lost a 5-6 pounder at the boat as I was reaching to lip it. That was on a SPRO bronzeye frog in loon color. Official biggest was on generic shad colored spinnerbait that came in a shade over four.
  20. Maybe they'll decide to do a Lunkerville episode from the next Bassresource.com fishing trip. That might be fun...
  21. " I look inside myself and see my heart is black" "Paint it Black" - Stones I can remember hearing this song for the first time when I was probably five or six and thinking, "this is my kind of music" and it has been my favorite song ever since.
  22. I have two presidents. Buddy of mine has a president and a trion. Extraordinarily smooth, good drag. Have used the pooh out of them. Most people seem to think the president performs like a reel in the $100 price range.
  23. Informative or not, Little Radar (who might be my favorite TV character of all time), I can't get past the way they portray themselves. I wasn't able to get into them from the beginning but as soon as they started singing The Black Eyed Peas I lost all ability to watch. Just personality differences. I'm an old man for a 33-year-old. I can't watch contemporary TV or listen to new music, either. Pop culture sucks.
  24. The Pursuit Channel. At least on Direct TV.
