  1. LAst year I brought my wife catch some bream and found beds in 10-12fow. Ive never caught em that deep but the water was gin clear in this cove we were fishing and I can see the honeycomb looking beds deep and flashes of fish over them. took the cork off and tight lined them. We kept 49 big enough to filet and drowned 300 crickets so no telling how many were down there.
  2. We whacked them this Saturday, 4 of us caught 34, all were between 3-4lbs. They are shallower than they should be this time of year. My buddy stayed and fished Sunday, we had to head home for Super Bowl party, and he whacked em again with his biggest 5 right at 20lbs. Some of the females looked like they spawned already and the others were about to pop, some had eggs oozing out. Gonna try and head up there again this weekend. With the mild temps big mommas should be dropping. Wish I could give location but have a buddy that's fishing a tournament and he wasn't far from us.
  3. Frog bite is on right now in the hay grass. Saturday lost a good one on a popping frog and landed a few nice ones. Had a buddy and his wife catch 20+ each day on sencos in the grass and said when they would pull it to the top they would hit them almost like a top water bite. Wish they would've thrown a frog too beings they were way north of where I was just to see if it was on there too. I love to frog fish and can throw that sucker all day.
  4. My brother has Clifford Pirch as pilot tomorrow.
  5. My brother is a marshall for the elites on Sabine this week/weekend. I'll try and post some pictures when he sends them. Gonna be a tough one for all.
  6. Is stunk up the tournament Saturday. Caught one and missed 5 others. Went Friday afternoon north and was on fish in 20 minutes. Figured Id start there and work back south for weigh in. Water came up a foot over night and really made the water dirty. Managed one and missed one. Went south and joined the crowd in Piney Point and clear creek. Caught another and missed 4 more. Could've had my 5 but they weren't enough anyway. Went back Sunday to figure em out some more and water came up some more over night. Caught one buck bass on the bank and had to head home for 11:00 so headed in. Gonna be on fire in the next few weeks. Hope the rain stays away and water level stays put. I caught my fish and got bit flippin brush with a black red glitter tube.
  7. Had a buddy there yesterday and said it was stained but not bad and buck bass are on the bank. In Housen
  8. My buddy is in the BASS open on ross Barnett and weigh in is about to start. Come on Tyler carrier!!
  9. Buddy just texted me its muddy in Slaughter.
  10. Bass_Fanatic_ just found out we will be fishing same club tourney. Im fishing as a guest so good luck.
  11. We didn't catch many. 4 boats had I think 9 fish. Thousands of dead and dying 2" shad all over and the bass were gorging on them. They should be in the reeds by this weekend with the warmer weather. We flipped reeds and backed off secondary grass line and boated ours there. A-rig and shackyhead trick worm seemed to be what they wanted.
  12. Awesome catch and congrats on the win.
  13. Fishing as a guest for a club Tournament Saturday. Cant get up there until Friday afternoon so going blind. Will most likely fish mid lake all day. Will report back Monday with info.
  14. Rough weekend. Fished Friday afternoon and lost two at the boat on a trap. Throwing it on a dropoff from 5fow to 12fow. Went to same spot Sat am fished for 4 hrs without a bite. Threw trap, c-rig lizard, jig on bottom, swim jig, jerk bait, spinner bait, fluke and no bites. It had grass on the edge and on bottom of creek and had fish but nothing. Water was a little muddy and left went to Texas side to Martinez. Fished same thing on that side and no bites. Moved to Britten Creek north and picked up one beating the bank with a chatterbait with skinny dipper trailer. Small female about 2lbs. 10hrs of fishing and one fish in the boat. Still was better than working. Only will get better. I started the day Friday and sat just north of Wright's landing. Didn't fish Sunday due to trolling motor issues but will be back next weekend to figure those suckers out./
  15. Saltyredneck I'll be way north in San Patricio, and up. May come back down to Blue lake but will let you know what I see and catch.
  16. If yall heading up Monday and Tuesday I may or may not have a good report to share. I'll keep you updated.
  17. Heading to the big pond this weekend. So far reports of red traps, spinnerbaits, and c-rigged lizards are the go to techniques Ive been told. Do yall think this cold weather will still have them deep or the bass are moving up regardless and should concentrate in 10'-less fow?
  18. Good Luck to all Tournament anglers this weekend. weather should be great and hoping they bend yall poles.
  19. Catt, we went in the second cove which looked like the deeper one. There is plenty of buck brush but on the edge or on dry land. 2-3' higher would be ideal for flippin on the beds right there. I guess I'm weird in a way. I'll troll up to the bank looking for the creek channel or drop off them back off and try to stay on it with my electronics. Just now starting to use electronics so it's making me constantly look at depth. And I agree with your 12-18' range. Always catch fish when I'm in that depth just never really out that pc of the puzzle together. Fishing sacalait tourneys for years got me out the bass loop and when I'd go up there there's a few places I know I can catch fish so I wouldn't over think it.
  20. We didn't go far into creek and fished the first point we came to which was shallow. I followed the creek edge in and was sitting in 18' of water casting to shallow about 6-8' I'm guessing and when they would eat the worm they would run back towards us/deeper water. Made me realize they were just coming up and feeding in the shallow and not staging for prespawn. Was a little grass but not much where we were fishing.
  21. Will be hitting Cane River Saturday March 7. A yearly fishing trip we do with a group of guys at my buddy's house on the river. Should be on fire by then.
  22. Just joined this site and all I can say is Im amazed with the info on this thread. Im 41yrs old and been fishing Toledo bend for about 20yrs mainly once or twice a year. I have a camp now for the past 5 years that ive been to a lot more and have a hunting lease near Zwolle so Im there every weekend. Bought a zx250 Skeeter last year and now can travel the lake like I want. Anyway just here to say thanks for the information and will continue reading this thread for the next week or so. Went last weekend and hit Blue Lake and caught 3 good ones, 3.9-3.8-2.8, then traveled to Martinez and stuck two more in the 3lb range. Caught one on Blue/black swim jig and the rest on ole monster dark colored worm. Should be there every weekend in March and first two in April then my girls select softball season starts and I'll be traveling the states.
