  1. My downscan imaging appears to have something wrong. I have the Elite 7 chirp and was told by lowrance customer service to update the unit. Has anyone ever done this ? I hope it is something simple
  2. Kind of new to fishing under bridges and wanted as much input on this as I could get. Is it wrong to anchor under a bridge to fish the pilings? Is it unlawful? I see people that appear to be anchored under them or tied off to the pilings all the time. Does this scare the fish? And if not what is the proper method to stay put without getting tossed around or drifting off because of the wind. I would assume to slowly let down a anchor off the bow and one off the stern.
  3. Wondering how many of you guys have a lowrance or similar type system that uses "chirp" and how you like it? Any tips or advantages? The 700$ price tag worth it since some of the higher end models are up to 3 grand? anyways any help is appreciated thanks guys!
  4. I have tried different brands of fishing line throughout my life and have got stuck on using seaguar. Do not really use braid too often and will begin using more and more this year. I have heard great things about P line XTCB and was wondering who here uses it and is it really what it is made out to be. If so what pound test do you find easier to work with and what type of set up do you have? I plan on using it on a okuma helios reel with a 7 11" okuma rod
  5. Wondering if anyone has a lowrance elite 7 chirp.....having trouble understanding some of the images. Is there any websites or videos describing how to read and understand it? Any help is appreciated
  6. I just purchased the 2015 Smoke PTSA baitcaster ...it's by far the best baitcaster I have used.
  7. Hey guys, This the first topic I have ever started as I am a new guy on this site. I have a 2200 Gambler boat I purchased last year and im enjoying it to the fullest. One problem I face however is that every now and then friends or family members come aboard to fish with me. They are inexperienced anglers and don't know to how to use my equipment. I have a Duckett 6 foot 9 Rod on a quantum Smoke Spinning reel as the "back up Rod " for someone to use. I have noticed that they struggle using it and feel that they would be more comfortable with a push pole Rod. I'm looking into buying 2 or 3 Rod and reels for other people to use and just have on the boat at hand. What type of Rod and reel would you guys recommend? I feel that the push poles fail easier and are more likely to have problems over time. Are there any specific rod n reel combos you guys recommend for beginners?

  9. Thanks! What type of rig do you have? I tried enlarging it a bit but was having some trouble
  10. Hey guys, I'm new to bass resource and hope to familiarize myself with everyone. I posted my introduction in the intro forum and was told by a guy to post my boat in here. It's a 2004 Gambler 2200 DC with a 2004 250 HP Mercury outboard. Brand new Minn Kota maxxum 80lb thrust trolling motor. My main fish finder is a Lowrance Elite series 7 chirp. Looking to sell it in the near future though and not too sure about what else I would enjoy the same way.
  11. Hello Bass Resource Members, I'm new to the site and It feels great to be part of you guys. I feel confident I am surrounded by knowledge and it's great to see most questions a angler would ask have already been talked about on here. Im 22 years old and from East TX. As a small child my father would take me bluegill fishing which is one of the few memories I have of him. Not sure if that's why I fish so much. I got specifically into bass fishing about 4 years when I caught my first largemouth. It became somewhat of a obsession even though it was all bank fishing. I purchased my first boat last year and have been pretty busy keeping up with it. From maintenance to the storage unit it is in, the definition bust out another thousand is true. Even then though I would not give up bass fishing if I was blind and had no legs lol...I'm studying engineering in school so if I'm not busy with school I'm either educating myself on fishing or at the lake. Have any of you guys ever fished lake palestine? I have yet to find really good spots but then again I'm sure I still have much to learn. I'm still in the process of learning my Lowrance Elite 7 Chirp . It can get overwhelming at times anyways nice to meet you!
