  1. I switched over to plano ammo cans which are sealed but I didn’t add any additional silicone. The pelican knockoff i did use silicone on to fill in gaps due to the plastic being too thick and the buttons not seating fully. I use these more around the house than I do on the kayak. Sometimes an iphone charger is too far from where i’m sitting.
  2. That looks great!
  3. Battery box v2.0 completed. This is definitely a one-off. Too much time and aggravation. The switches didn’t seat all that well so it’s not 100% waterproof. It could take a good downpour though.
  4. Cabelas appears to be discontinuing their guidewear gortex pullovers. Picked up one for $50 in the bargain cave. Seen others at another store kn the rack for $70. Might still be some out there if you have a store close.
  5. Husky mobile worksite box.
  6. Youtube works wonders. I never wired up anything before these boxes. With what I learned i’m eventually going to clean up my boat wiring. It’s a mess.
  7. I now have a “test box”. This is my latest addition. I am not able to get to the spot where I want to mount lights on my boat so here’s my workaround. Should work for night fishing.
  8. I received a large tub of assorted spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Most were generic or homemade. Had a few gems like the bumblebees and BPS Tornados. The two in the pic are a mystery to me. They look homemade in some ways and manufactured in others. Based on the other baits I’m guessing these are from the 80’s. I couldn’t find anything online. Thoughts? Thanks!
  9. Spent a little more than I wanted to this week but filled in some missing pieces. 2x Lews Laser MG lefty Lews speed stick for cranking Cabelas guidewear goretex pullover Got it all for under $200 and I should be good for a minute
  10. Just saw that Cabelas has the Motorguide Xi3 52lb on sale from $599 down to $525. On top of that you also get a $50 rebate from Motorguide. So tempting to slap a $500 trolling motor on my $2500 boat just for the wireless convenience...
  11. Bladed jigs. Barlowtackle.com Their Shakee head setup shows everything you need. Buy painted or unpainted, pick up some cheap zman skirts from bass pro and you’re all set.
  12. My boat has almost no usable storage and after spending a long weekend on the boat and stepping on gear and tackle I needed to find a solution. I picked up a Husky 35” mobile job site box and it should work pretty well. I have no skills or tools so building a deck was not an option. I’m going to rig up a way to lock it to the boat. Should work until I get a bigger boat...someday...
  13. Not tackle but out with the 90’s electronics and in with the new technology. Is it bad that this cost 20% of my boat’s worth...
  14. Just finished my “under $25” box. It came out pretty good. Instead of a master switch that also turned on the volt meter I rigged up each switch to turn on the accessory as well as the volt meter. Cut down on needing a fuse block. Running inline fuses. All the wiring, fuses, and most connectors were included with the port kit I got off Amazon. Total cost was ~$23. Guts
  15. Check out JDS outdoors on youtube for a video on how to make one. He also has a parts list linked. I probably watched the video 3 times. It was very theraputic. I am out of town so I don’t have a pic of the fuse block but do for the rest of the wiring. Got the box at Harbor Freight for $4
  16. Thanks!
  17. Finished up my battery box and set up my fishfinder on a cigarette plug. Plan on running my night lights on the power posts. Not waterproof but good enough for my needs. May also use it to run some aux lights on my bigger boat so I don’t have to wire them all up. Pretty fun to build and learn about wiring. Can’t wait to make more for family as gifts. Total cost was $40 but have sourced new parts and can get get it down to about $25 running inline fuses rather than a fuse block.
  18. I haven't tries it but would nail polish work? Seems easy enough and you can change colors if needed.
  19. Great looking for sure! I wish I could get my gills looking like that!
  20. Thanks! I still haven't clear coated that one. I was debating repainting it. Guess you helped make up my mind.
  21. Be sure to post your results. I'm ready for the garage to warm back up so I can get to painting more.
  22. I turned the air pressure down low and took off the end of my airbrush and flicked the trigger or whatever you call it on the brush. It makes a splatter effect. I would use a toothbrush in the future though. It's hard to control and I only wanted on the top half. Others use black glitter
  23. Gotta thank my step-dad for the bucktail from this year's deer.
  24. I need to work on replicating now. See if I can get the same results. The garage has cooled down to the 40's/50's so it's time to pack up the paint and wait till it warms up. Guess it's time for fly tying.
  25. Go grab a cheap airbrush from amazon, compressor (if you don't have one) from harbor freight and some paint with the 40% off at hobby lobby. I don't have an artistic bone in my body. Just spray and pray. Lots of trial and even more error. My second and third craws weren't very good so it's hit and miss for me. I'll be getting quality blanks once I can get more consistant.
