Same. I mostly fished ponds last year, so anything not weedless was a no-no. So pretty much, all I could fish were texas rigged plastics last year. I will also experiment with jigs and chatterbaits this year.
Pluefger Supreme trumps all in that price range. You can find them at severe discount for 49.99$ at Gander Mountain after rebate and gift cards. Furthermore, there is a coupon code for 5$ off that is GMT5.
Anybody ever use any of Ardent's Evercast or Outdoor line of baitcasting reels?
They came out a couple years ago, and are now on deep discount.
Here are the Specs for the Evercast line:
Stainless ABR (9+1) Ball Bearing System. Weight: 8.0 oz. Dartanium Drag System.
Centrifugal Brake System. High Efficiency Gearing (HEG). Aluminum Spool.
Forged Aluminum Handle Made with Septon. Forged Aluminum Star Drag. Durable Matte Black Rubber Painted Frame.
Tapered Titanium Levelwind Insert. Available in Right Hand Retrieve.
And here are the Specs for the Outdoors line:
The details: Durable, 1-piece magnesium alloy frame
Retrieve-smoothing Strike Saver drag system; 6-pin centrifugal brake system for smooth casting.
Excellent cast distance; Superior backlash resistance.
The main reason why I am looking at these reels is because they are cheap and have good specs.
Anybody ever use this line? It's the cheapest copolymer line I could find, and it looks decent. What's the difference between the AN-40 line and the Excalibur line?
Senko
Texas rigged worm
Buzzbait or Frog or Popper
Mid-Range Crank
Swim Jigs or Football Jigs
Deep crank
Jerkbait
And a pack of craws.
This pretty much all I carry when I am fishing from the bank, when I can only carry essentials.
I just recently sold my lews laser mg speed spool due to money constraints. Now, before spring comes, I will definetly need a new baitcaster. I have around 50-60$ and am looking for new or used baitcaster that has centrifugal or DBS braking systems. Can anybody make me some suggestions?
From what I remember, the First-Gen VERITAS's had a huge problem with breakage. But supposedly, Abu fixed these breaking issues with the Veritas 2.0 line.
Shimano Bantam Curados have been around for an extremely long time. I would not buy one, unless I could physically make sure that everything worked fine and haven't been worn out.
If it was only the top right reel, pass on it. 50$ for a single bantam curado in an extremely old condition is not worth it. But if it is the whole collection, then jump on it.
Just get the Supreme MGX. You essentially get it for 49.99$ at gander mountain, which is the same price as the trion. It is a huge step above the trion.
So I was looking at this line, and it said that it had copolymer and fluorocarbon technologies. So is it a copolymer or fluorocarbon or monofilament. Also, what qualities does it have (sink, float, stretch etc.)? What applications would it be best for?
