  1. I fish watermelon flake zoom ribbontails. They have proven to me to be better then the Yum Ferocity worms, and are somewhat durable.
  2. If it is made by the same company as power pro, shares the same specs as power pro, then how is it more than a 1/3 cheaper than PP? There is definitely a catch somewhere.
  3. Unless you are getting serious backlashes or are a tournament fisher, something is wrong. Considering that I can use a 300 spool of mono for two seasons, I think you should be able to get a lot more line usage out of the line you have. Also, it depends on the type of line? Fluoro is the most abrasive resistant, but also accumulates memory the fastest.
  4. Don't the old ones only have centrifugual braking? I heard the new white and blacks have DBS?
  5. Fluorocarbon or Copoly for crankbaits.
  6. I use hi-seas braid and I see nothing wrong with it. It is also made in the USA and cheap.
  7. 2 rods. One spinning one casting. I use spinning for worms and jigs. Casting for topwaters and crankbaits.
  8. Haha, I still backlash also, but just not as much. I agree with the idea of going with a spinning reel, because baitcasting reels are hell to use, without somebody to teach you. Trying to learn baitcasting by watching youtube videos was not a good idea.
  9. Agreed. I can see why they would be sold out quickely. Another option at your price would be the quantum accurist. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Quantum-Accurist-Spin-Reel-20SZ&i=773823 This is the older model, which is why you can get it for 35$. All I have heard about this reel is good.
  10. How would the Ardent Reel compare to a BPS reel at the same pricepoint?
  11. So essentially what you are saying is that I could probably customize a Bass Pro or Browning Reel with parts from other reels? If that's true, then I will definitely just go buy a BPS or Browning Reel and then just go on Ebay and upgrade the drag or handle.
  12. I also have the 8230. It is an absolutely AMAZING reel for the price. I got mine for 49$ on clearance from dicks. I truly believe that it is untouchable against reels under the 99$ price range. You do know you can get it for 49$ at Gander Mountain after rebates and gift cards?
  13. Tournament Mg you prob. could get a good 50-60$ off of it. On amazon right now, a used Tournament MG sells for 55$
  14. Your line choice depends on the lures you will fish. I would personally advise against using a baitcasting combo, as they take some time to learn. For me, it took me approximately a month to learn to cast a baitcaster without backlashing.
  15. Haha yeah I have a pond exactly like this in jersey. So this pond was created two years ago, and they only stocked a few hundred bass and a ton of bluegill. After fishing it for a year, I have to say that I catch a lot of the same bass many times. Though they are all 1-2 pound dinks, it's pretty fun as you know that you will always manage to catch a bass. But, you have to vary up your lure selection a little bit. After encountering the same lure multiple times, bass get smart, and won't bite any more. In small manmade ponds like these, the key to catching fish is to diversify your lure selection.
  16. Fish soft plastics around the edges of the pond. My first choice would be a t-rigged worm fished slowy around the edges.
  17. Powell Rods have a really good following. The max or endurance series would be good for you.
  18. The Pro Qualifier for that price. It is amazing for 79$
  19. I always use a double uni to connect two lines of same diameter.
  20. What's the difference between the two? At the same price range, the two brands of reels have exactly the same specs except for the drag system. An example would be the Pro Qualifier and the Midas. Both are on discount now, and are the same price. The Midas has an extra bearing, and also has a duralmin/aramid drag stack, while the PQ only has an aluminum/aramid drag stack. Which one should I go with?
  21. I've been looking at this reel for a long time at BPS's website. It has all the specs of the PQ, but just in a red color and at a price of $59. Has anybody used this? It looks like a good deal for a baitcaster that has a DBS system and Aluminum Frame.
  22. Its an extremely old reel... that's why there are no responses coming about it. I read another thread from 2002 that describes it as being a good reel that retails for 80$. It isn't even a low profile reel. Lol it looks like a cross beween a round and a low profile reel. Here are the specs: Shimano Cruzar CRZ-200 (In Box) 5.1:1 Ratio, 10.6Oz 3 Stainless Steel Ball Bearings Super Stopper Anti-Reverse Plus Assist Stopper Shimano Variable Brake System Paddle Knob Power Handle Quickfire II Clutch Bar Casting System Precision Aluminum Spool 10/190 12/150 14/115 Note that it is extremely heavy.
  23. Zoom ribbontails.
