  1. This winter I picked up a pair of Costa's with 580G green mirrored lenses and I really like them. They are much more clear than any oakleys I've even owned and they do a great job cutting back glare. I'm still impressed with how much better I can see every time I put them on.
  2. Either a G Loomis BCR893 GLX or a Megabass Orochi XX EMTF.
  3. I think there is a difference between what a bass can see, and what a bass perceives as dangerous. Would bass in a pressured lake with clear water be able to correlate fishing line with being caught? I think it's possible - certainly is the case with trout. Breaking up the silhouette of your line with a marker would likely be helpful. On the opposite side of the spectrum, would a bass in a low pressure lake with stained water care much about line? That hasn't been my observation.
  4. Are you fishing around a lot of rock or brushpiles? Typically when I see a lot of fraying in a braided line, its due to abrasion - that is to say the line is rubbing against something hard/sharp. If that's the case, moving to fluorocarbon line would be smart. If you're going to replace the whole line, I would recommend Tatsu by Seaguar. If you think the line could be salvaged, tying on a fluorocarbon leader may help reduce fraying of the braid. For just a leader, you can usually get away with cheaper fluorocarbon and I've had good luck with trilene 100% fluorocarbon.
  5. I think your intuition that spooling "as tight as possible" is unnecessary would be correct. You want to apply some tension to the braid when spooling, but this is true with any line type. Unless you reel in every time with this same high tension, I can't see how any benefit would be preserved past the first cast.
