  1. Same ½ mile stretch of river. I thought about that too, a lot more boats out and more anglers hitting the same spots.
  2. I've been skunked the last two days. I was catching three or four fish everyday! They seem like they've just disappeared. I've been throwing buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, jigs, and senkos. Frustrating.
  3. My itch is constant and thankfully I'm in a position to fish 7 days a week, even if it's for just an hour after work.
  4. Spinnerbaits and jigs. Or jigs and spinnerbaits. And a buzzbait for fun.
  5. I'm assuming it's a turtle, but I'm not really sure. For the past two days, when I was jig fishing on the bottom, I've been getting bites that almost feel like a vibrating phone is on the end of my line. When I pull it back up, some of the appendages on my pit boss's are missing. I've caught turtles before but nothing has ever felt like that. Anyone have experience with this?
  6. I don't own one yet but I've been in a Hobie pro angler. I was really impressed with how easy it was to handle. They're pretty heavy though.
  7. Noodling is the only logical alternative.
  8. Where did you get your stakeout pole? Or did you make it?
  9. I basically don't fish treble hooks or crankbaits at all anymore because of that very problem. It really takes the fun out of fishing when you have to seriously injure a fish for sport. Plus it's not fun to have trebles stuck in the end of your finger.
  10. I have that combo. For the price it's hard to beat and I was always a pure shimano guy.
  11. Is the side imaging really worth the extra cash? I can't decide which one of these to get. I'll be using it in a boat and hopefully a kayak.
  12. I fish out of a OK nearly every day and only get uncomfortable after 6 hours or so, and my height (6'2) might be the reason for that. Also I own the Tetra series with the black foam seat. Not sure what the name of the seat is.
  13. When I thought I was done buying new reels......
  14. Rage bug works well for me in deeper water.
  15. DVT might be tired of answering my questions by now, I've asked quite a few. I've got all of the bearings soaking right now. Gonna polish and really super tune it. Hopefully that fixes it. I kept finding grey water/lube mixture on parts that move, which in my mind means metal dust, which means sediment eating away at something in the reel. Hopefully not too much damage has been done.
  16. For the last week the carp have been suspended near the surface around my dock. They're all facing upstream like they're waiting on something. They let me hit them with my spinnerbait and jig and never moved. In regards to the OP, I caught three good sized bass in the midst of all these carp.
  17. Dropped my reel in the river while kayak fishing. This river has a good bit of silt in it. Took the reel apart to clean said silt. Cleaned everything with Ardent Reel cleaner. Oiled the bearings, greased the gears and worm drive. Reel feels rough on retrieve. Like dirt is still somewhere I didn't get to. Could it be the knobs on the handle? Or the grease attracting dirt on the worm drive? I love this reel and it's frustrating me that it isn't as smooth now.
  18. A few questions here. I had a big bass on a spinnerbait and had tension on him and of course he ran at me and threw the hook. So immediately I feel in and re cast past where he was and work the bait. Nothing. Tried a worm where he was. Nothing. Tried a senko. Nothing. Does a bass get spooked and get lockjaw after he gets hooked like that? How far will they go to leave the area? I casted all around me for 45 minutes hoping to get him again.
  19. I've been catching a lot of fish lately of decent size on spinnerbaits and senkos. Anyone else having any luck and what're you using?
  20. Ballin on a budget. Love my new *** Black. The sensitivity is awesome for a $100 rod.
  21. I'm going to take them apart again because I may have greased the drag. I didn't think about that. Is a greased drag recommended? Or is it just preference?
  22. Yeah I did. I'm starting to think I'm just not used to catching bigger fish and had my drag too loose. But it didn't feel THAT loose.
  23. A couple of my reels that I just took apart and cleaned and lubed (with schematics) are now sort of struggling with bigger fish. The handle turns but the spool doesn't. The drag isn't locked all the way down but it isn't loose either. Is this just how the drag works? Or did I mess something up?
  24. Just started fishing out of a sit on top kayak. It's not made for fishing, but I've repurposed it. I'm finding that getting to tackle and using multiple rods is difficult. Also fighting a paddle while trying to fish is a hassle. Any tips or accessories you guys know of that would help?
