  1. Id be down for that! I've never fished there always wanted to tho!
  2. Berkley lightning rod is a solid choice man
  3. I use 10-30 pound braid no leader. Never had an issue spooking fish.
  4. The berkley lightning rod shocks $39 at Walmart and the halo starlight series $49 at tackle shops and some walmarts and there website. Are both great rods for the money.
  5. Man I only keep a couple bags of each style and color I like and use lol. And a couple 6 packs of the hooks I use regularly. I mean I keep things pretty simple tackle and rigging wise. I'm amazed at what yall stock
  6. So we have a small community center pond that fwc ( florida wildlife) stocked with bass sub adults and blue Gil. They stock 835 bass total of 35 pounds. This was on the 2013-2014 report. Me and my son fish there a good bit since it's easy for the lil guy and a fun place to fish. But I've only ever caught 6 inch to 14 inch 1 pound fish in there. And we never see any blue Gil or catch any. Only the small tail biters and the 1 pound fish. Will this type of pond survive? Seems like the small bass will just get eaten and thep ons will never flourish.
  7. How much terminal tackle and plastics do you keep on hand? I keep a couple packs of the hooks and sinkers I like and a couple packs of the plastics I like to fish on hand. Some guys seem to have a tackle store at there house lol
  8. Nah no messing it up! Was sill neat and startled me lol! And the banks I have to fish you couldn't fiah anything like a Zara spook if Ya had to lol
  9. Yep that's how I'm holding the sinker down against the worm. It's getting stuck in the v of them pad which seems to be normali guess. I'm deffiantly gonna give a stick bait a try the next time I go!!
  10. I've thrown hollow body frogs out there a good bit with no real success. This is actually the firstnw I've caught t the big lake. Plenty of big fish in there just first one I've caught.
  11. Wow thanks so so so much! ThAt is exactly what I am running Into. I'll have to give that a try
  12. Well d**n lol! So much for that cool story. Water was probably 6-8 inches to 2 feet deep.
  13. That it does! It helps a lot. It'll be on a 7'3" M/H with 30 pound fins wind tamer braid. I know not the ideal set up for light lures. But I'm kinda trying to build. Good all around combo for light lures but still be able to dig them out of the florida cover
  14. Was bank fishing a local large lake today. Got a 1 pounder second cast in with a ribbon tail worm. Kept walking the area, it has a lot of dead brush and sticks on the bank I got around one part to a cut in the lake that is shallow and lily pads, and some grass the second I stepedaround the corner they exploded splashing out of the shallows like crazy! I stood there a minute and fished it a while but didn't get any hits. I could see them splash in the thick grass patches tho. It was probably the coolest thing I've seen in a long time!
  15. Thanks I'll look into those also I appreciate all the help everyone
  16. Roughness of the braid against guides and reel parts. And noise is dramatically less. I have powerpro original on one reel and can't stand it
  17. Oh wow ok I'll have to take a good look at the Tatula also! Thanks for the awesome info everyone!
  18. Yep I'm skin hooking it and using 30 pound braid. I haven't tried a senkp yet. Thanks for the advice guys!
  19. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm looking at the lews also. The biggest thing that turned me onto the lexa was reading that it's spool weight allows you to fish lighter lures since that's mostly what I fish. How is the Tatula?
  20. So here in fl we have thick lily pad fields, they can be fished with a peg weighted worm. But on retrieval the weight will gesture in the one spot on the pad as you try to finesse it over and into the next pocket. If you hold the Rod straight out and pull theough it your fine. But it's a lil annoying. I am fishing from the bank by the way, anyone have any tips?
  21. Lol I thought about that after I typed it.
  22. Oh wow ok. Is the spool still light weight and able to throw lighter lures? I fish a lot of soft plastics and want to get into jigs. And fiah a lot of nasty cover here in fl. I have a couple nice spinning rigs but want a baitcaster reel for the cover and throw my same tactics?
  23. So I'm looking at getting a daiwa lexa 100 baitcaster. For all around bass fishing like the feature of light weight spool and ability to throw light lures and plastics on it. I'm unsure if I want to go with 6.3.1 or 7.1.1. Anyone have any opinions on quality and acapabilitys of this reel?
  24. It is a slow game lol. Sometimes I get jealous of the guys who have clean lakes to fish a nd don't fish the slop constantly lol. It limits Ya big time
  25. I actually picked up a couple storm chug bugs and a rebel popper. I haven't fished them yet tho. I need to get out and try those. Swim baits and worms are my main go to. I'm trying rage rigging and creature baits tho.
