  1. I.............Hate............you! so how much to come fish with you
  2. how deep is it right from the bank? don't be afraid to get wet, that is how i did most of my bank fishing as a kid. I wore my old ratty shoes and hopped in. most of my fishing was done waist deep in the water.
  3. I caught a 45" muskie on a bandit footloose in white. Hit just like a bass too just a little tap and it was coming towards me so I never felt much for weight, when it got to the boat I think we both saw each other at the same time cause I was like and the fish bolted under the boat just about broke the rod cause it smacked the side before I managed to disengage the reel. I fought it for 4-5 minutes before i got it in. by the time I picked the fish up I looked around and saw that I had an audience of like 5 different boats watching me catch this fish. that was the biggest fish I have ever caught and also my first muskie.
  4. when I cant catch fish on anything else I go to an x-rap and it will usually turn a 3-4 fish day into a 10-15 fish day.

  6. sound advice!!!!!!! I am going june 10-14 this year. I am bringing lizards senkos jigs a couple walk the dog type topwaters shallow and mid range crank baits a bunch of different poppers a couple big zara spooks or rapala x walk 13's and as many craw tubes as I can afford.
  7. I launched at 5 this morning had the lake to myself for 45 minutes water skiing started around 7 started getting crowded around 9 so I left. I got in a good 4 hours of fishing and wasn't bothered. other times I just go to my spots and fish if water skiiers start getting too close to me I call the park police and give them the boat numbers. last year I was casting to the edge of the pads and this 1 boat kept running between me and the pads after 3 times i wrote down the numbers and called it in. I saw them being talked to by the police when I left. some people don't get it.
  8. my season starts tomorrow I should be sleeping but you know how that goes................
  9. there are gluten free beers out there never tried 1 but we have some at the store I go too. I hope things work out for you and your daughter.
  10. sad news indeed, i did get to see him with black sabbath, awesome show.
  11. my last batteries were trojan's and with me not taking care of them at all just charging before i went out (they spent every winter dead and in the garage) cold with these MN winters they lasted 5 years, I now have interstates because they were cheaper, going on year 2 now so far so good.
  12. usually nothing, if i do actually remember to bring something it is a banana or maybe some beef jerky
  13. yeah they are very easy to replace I think i went through 4 or 5 on my old TM.
  14. the unit is mounted about 2 feet back from the transom and I worry that it will get splashed. I did make a cover for it to keep water from splashing on it directly. I know it is a marine stereo but it said in the manual that you should avoid direct contact with water. it has a jack in front for an ipod maybe if I use that instead of cd's it wont get as hot. maybe we should start a poll on how long it will last ;D
  15. well figures, I looked for reviews and couldn't really find any. I guess if it gets me a season or two i'll be happy. it did come with a 1 year warranty and I drilled a couple 3/4 inch holes in the bottom of my little console so hopefully that helps. any reccomendations on the next one?
  16. I would have kept it, killed it humanely and explained the circle of life, we didn't want to kill this fish but these things happen and so we are going to eat it so that it is not wasted. I have explained this with my son and he seems fine with it. we keep fish all the time, mostly crappies or sunnies but it has worked for him, he is 4 btw
  17. I would agree except that when you have big money on the line a fish completing its spawn is of low concern.
  18. I bought a boss marine cd player for my boat works great sounds good but after 30 minutes or so it gets really hot. it doesn't cut out or anything but i wonder if this is normal or if there is something i did wrong? I do have it in a custom built console with very little space so i drilled two 3/4 inch holes to hopefully get some air flow on it.
  19. ultrathon spray they also make a creme but the spray has more deet. absolutely awesome stuff I found it when I went to the bwcaw 2 years ago, I sprayed it on right out of the truck and after sweating during the portages, paddling across the lake, setting up camp and fishing a few hours it was still working. seems to work for around 6 hours or so.
  20. I am curious as well my lake has a couple shallower beds and I have never had much luck fishing them, so what makes a good bed? does depth play a role?
  21. another time while duck hunting I launched the boat and it was pretty cold so I went to start the motor to let it warm up while I got things together, well after a couple pulls it wouldn't start so I gave it a little more throttle sure enough it started and it was still in gear and I was standing in the water next to it! thankfully it was pointed towards shore but it shot right up into shore and bent the crap out of my prop and broke the sheer pin, so ended a potential day of duck hunting.
  22. I took my grandpa out fishing or tried to a couple years ago, we launched the boat and for some reason the motor just wouldn't start I pulled till my arms burned I tried every thing i could think of my grandpa had the cover off trying to fix it well we never got it started so we put the boat back on the trailer and when we got back we drug out a drum of water to test the motor in as we looked the motor over I noticed that the kill switch was un-clipped! man did I feel like an idiot, a complete day of fishing wasted.
  23. I cannot stand mono line! when I throw a crank with mono all I feel Is pressure as I reel the bait in, but with braid I feel every little wobble in the crank. if a single piece of grass gets on a hook I can tell and then try to get it off either by jerking hard or just ripping it the rest of the way in. I use a 7' med/hvy-moderate avid for my cranking, no fiberglass for me. I honestly don't loose fish often enough for me to blame the braid. I think the key may be in having a loose drag.
  24. when the lure hits the water i raise the rod tip, slowly lower the rod then with the reel still free i jerk the rod up again the bait gets a little hop and you get another 7 feet or so of slack then i will slowly lower the rod again. I also keep my thumb on the spool in case I get bit. hope that makes sense. the resistance from your lure in the water should be enough for your spool to spin when you raise the rod if not your tension knob is too tight.
