  1. very nice
  2. i have been using an eagle fishmark 320 for maybe 7 years now. I a very happy with it especially for the price $160. My only complaint is that it is not strong enough to keep up with me when on plane. for you with that small of a motor you should have no problem mine cuts out at around 12 miles per hour and at 15' or more.
  3. My son loves fishing, it usually works for him to just play around in the boat and when I catch something I let him reel it in. My daughter went out for her first time 2 weeks ago and while we didn't catch many fish she had a blast playing with the worms you can see the dirt on her face, she and her brother decided to give the worms baths in a ziplock bag since we werent catching anything.
  4. Quantums are some of the best reels right out of the box, a year or two down the road, not so much. I have owned several quantums and I just hated fishing them. they felt cheap and a couple of them broke and a couple just kind of faded away I have no Idea where they went. I worked at gander mountain for 5 years and quantum and pinnacle were the most returned reels. Just my experience.
  5. nice work! hot and likes to fish if she has money marry her tomorrow! kidding but yeah i'm a bit jealous. My wife automatically hates anything I enjoy
  6. all my spanish is mexican slang. I can sexually harrass women and swear at the men in spanish but thats about it.
  7. when I hear the sirens go off first I look out side and see what is going on then turn on the news if it isn't on already. based on what the news says and what I am seeing outside I determine weather to get under cover.
  8. My grandpa got me into fishing, I would go the 5 hour drive up to his place in the north woods for about 2 weeks at a time and spent most of our time trolling for pike. we would go out and catch limits of fish and stock up his freezer for the summer. the rest of the summer I was on my own so I would catch pan fish. none of my friends ever bass fished so I was always on my own. I never could afford magazines and we never had cable so I really had no idea what I was doing. well one day I applied for a job at gander mountain fishing department thinking I was pretty good and boy was I wrong! I almost quit 20 times just cause I never knew the answer to any questions. I am glad I stuck it out cause it was like a crash course in fishing after 5 years of working there I still didn't know everything (doubt I ever will) but I could hold my own with most bass fisherman. still always looking to learn but again none of my friends bass fish all walleye and musky fisherman.
  9. cool video, always nice to see how other guys do it. I gotta say when I first heard of mike I was not a fan at all but the more I see of the guy he has quickly become one of my favorites.
  10. I have a buddy that repainted all of his snow goose decoys with uv paint and said it seemed to make a difference but it has only been 2 seasons with it on so he isn't sure if the hunting has just been better or the paint is drawing them in a little closer. it seems to make sense and for $5 i would probably try it. I always said megastrike was stupid.....till I tried some.
  11. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/may/22/rapture-harold-camping-end-world just found this about the guy who said it would end today. I guess they had spent millions of dollars to advertise the end of the world, hmm just think of all the children who could have eaten on that extreme waste of money. maybe the world has ended.
  12. had a tornado touch down about 5 miles from my house about an hour ago so it felt like it
  13. I have never had a quantum worth fishing with. I have never had a problem with my shimano. the two diawa's I have tried 1 broke, terrible grinding sound, the other still works but not as well as the shimano's when I worked at gander mountain we had more pflugers and pinnicale reels returned than anything else. I really have a hard time trying anything else. I will say that the abu garcia's while a bit hit and miss when they hit are amazing reels. just my experience.
  14. try a 5" trick stick rigged backwards on a 3/0 hook and slide the bait over the knot. and megastrike never hurts either as a lubricant or an attractant.
  15. this sounds like a great cause and I i plan to send a little care package as well, however I wonder about all the other kids affected. Is there a way to maybe set up something where other kids would be able to receive donations as well. the way it looks and with all the good folks on this and other sites the kid will end up with more gear than he could use in a life time. please post up when and where to send donations.
  16. well since bass season doesn't open for another week and a half I have been using a white spinner bait cause I catch just as many 15" snot rockets as I do bass, if anyone asks I'm after pike I just cant keep these bass off my line. I'm not bed fishing so where is the harm.
  17. I had a small pond near my last job and yeah it will sure make the rest of your work day better being able to get out for a little bit.
  18. I just do my own thing. if a guy is sitting and working one weed edge and not moving I will fish to within 3 casts then max out the trolling motor and go around them maintaining about 3 cast distance then slow back down again. I wont drive over with the outboard and I try not to crowd people. when people start getting close to me I just ignore them they are usually gone within 5 minutes. if I am in their way too bad if I was there first. if they start casting to the edge of my boat I will usually just look at them and shake my head.
  19. when I worked at gander mountain every time a shipment would come it all the employees would go through and grab all the trick sticks. black blue swirl was always my favorite. slap some megastrike on there and go to work!
  20. watch the depth finder and when you see a good looking spot have an errant cast in front of the trolling motor and let your line get wrapped up in it. quickly retie and get to working the spot while he gets all your line out of the prop or just start working plastics faster as others had said.
  21. IMHO with spinning reels you can get away with spending musch less than a baitcaster. for spinning I would go with a shimano sedona. $60 and will last you a long time. as for baitcasting reels I usually spend a minimum of $120. which would be the shimano citica.
  22. looks long but thin I would say 4 to 4 1/2 always tuff to judge from a pic. a scale is $15-$20 and totally worth it. I know once I got a scale I was really disapointed cause all the fish I had been saying were 5 lbs were actually 4.
  23. almost too pretty to fish! almost. I really like the second set.
  24. went fishing last night, all went well till i tried to pick up the boat. I backed in like a pro went around some dork parked in the middle of the back up lane pushed the boat out and pulled it right on the trailer every thing centered there were a couple other people waiting to pick up so i felt pretty good about how quick i was. i hopped in the truck and as I pulled out i looked back and the boat was way off, the back end was hanging off the trailer, so I backed back in and centered it, pulled out again and the same thing well the boat isn't that heavy so I went to the back and tried to brute force it back to center. wouldn't budge so I back in again the boat gets hung up on the something so I have to push it back out and realign everything now there are 4 boats waiting on me I am up to my crotch in the cold water got everything centered finally and pulled out. I felt like such a moron like it was my first time. strapping everything down i watched this guy driving up and down the lake and realized his wake must have pushed the end of the boat off the trailer as i got in.
