  1. when i was in high school i had the same problem I would meet a girl slowly work up to it but then somehow i was always the "brother" figure and a good friend but no action for me. hell i was good friends with my wife for 2 years before we ever started dating now we have been together for 9 years and married for 2. so i guess either you need to work on your game (that was always my problem, not very smooth or attractive) or say screw it buy a playboy and go fishing whenever you want. ( I practicly have to beg nowadays).
  2. yeah the copolymer is pretty decent i hated the flourocarbon though huge waste of money
  3. never actually fished with it but when i used to spool reels at gander mountain the stuff was horrible the worst line to deal with when spooling. that was the main reason i never tried it. but some customers swore by it.
  4. I own 12 combo's and usually only bring 6 or 7 with me. I usually have two crank bait rods, a t-rig rod, a rod for skipping, one for spinnerbaits, one for frogs and one with a senko, usually
  5. I spend more on the rod. that is where you get your sensitivity. and for me it is all about sensitivity. the reel just holds line and has a drag. but i will say that for a spinning reel my max would be around $80 (symetre) for a casting reel my minimum would be $120 (citica)
  6. yeah I know st croix had one that was just like the daiwa capricorn only difference was the thickness of the bail wire and the color as far as i could tell and $10
  7. I set them every other one out and that seems to work best for most applications, at least for me
  8. I would prefer spinning gear for skipping docks or finnese fishing I would prefer casting for everything else which is better it depends on your style. you cant skip docks with a casting setup and that is most of my fishing. if you usually throw cranks or fish in the slop casting would be better. best to have atleast one of each
  9. when i worked at gander mountain i remember alot of pinnacle's having problems. usually it was with the thumb bar not engaging unless you pressed really hard. i saw alot of unhappy customers who had bought pinnacle's this same problem happened with every model we had.
  10. i used it most of last summer. it is very strong and pretty abrasion resistant it does seem to have a lot of memory though. almost too much i found myself having to stretch it just before i went fishing every time. the floro is absolutly HORRIBLE. there is so much memory it is unfishable. it was like trying to fish with a slinky. i would stick with yozuri
  11. the citica is probably the best reel you can buy for $120. now if you can find a deal on an avid you would be set. if not the guide series ultimate rods from gander mountain are pretty decent. 2 year warrenty and i would put them right between the premier and the avid as far as sensitivity goes.
  12. 6'6" med heavy avid with 20# power pro. line is small enough in diameter that it can skip a long way with minimal drag, rod is stiff enough that you can pull fish out from under docks before they get tangled around dock poles, added length i feel gives ME better accuracy but i know alot of guys that prefer shorter.
  13. I have a buddy who is really into flyfishing he shows me pictures of huge pike and even a couple muskies all caught on a flyrod. he does some bass but prefers pike
  14. I store my rods in the garage and it gets pretty cold up here in MN. my buddy told me graphite does not like the cold. so i wonder is this really an issue? they are just sitting there not bent at all. i have released the drag on all my reels. should i move them into the house or is it just a myth. i guess i could see if they were bent a little. most of them are avids but i have a kistler h2 and a g-loomis spinnerbait series if that makes any difference.
  15. i tell you what the stradic is a great reel, BUT, i am a fan of baitcasters for flipping i would suggest the shimano citica. $120 very good reel for that price. i am sure someone will back me up on this.
  16. imho i think magnets suck. set your brakes so they are every other one in the out "unlocked" position you will probably have no reason to ever change that. when i worked at gander mountain i had so many customers hooked on the brake system i rarely sold any with magnets. people who had trouble with baitcasters found they loved the ones with brakes. i sold a ton of those trion reels, good price good looking reel. hard to beat shimano though ;D
  17. if you do it while fishing tourny's then that is a form of cheating if you do it just so you have better luck on your sunday outing (catch and release) then more power to you.
  18. i would keep looking. you can get brand new for a little more than he is asking for that one. tracker makes some cheaper 14' johns you may want to look into it. i am sure you could find a used motor for a good price.
  19. ever since i got this motor (last febuary, it was a store display gander mountain) it has had quite the vibration, i noticed the other day that when i turn the prop by hand it feels like there is a bunch of little hangups, what i mean is that the prop doesn't spin smoothly it is kind of jerkey. I have only had the motor about a year and like i said it was a display and i have no recipt so no warrenty. could the shaft be bent? i took the prop off and there is nothing wrong that i can see.
  20. which one did you get?
  21. if you want a good set up with out a big price tag I use a 6' st.croix premier ultralight with a shimano sodona 750. works really nicely. if you want to step it up a notch the st.croix avid with a symetre 750 would be awsome. I don't see a need to spend a ton for bluegills. just about anything will work.
  22. get rid of the bobber and get your self some senko's. have the salesman show you how to hook them and you are set.
  23. I wasn't all that impressed with them but I have only used them a couple times i am sure a few people here will like them.
  24. I am almost positive that would void your warrenty you might want to look into it first.
  25. just a thought, if you are like me when I was 19 you could use a little extra money. I got a second job at gander mountain the pay wasn't great but the discount is awsome and you will learn so much just being around the stuff all day. when I worked there (i quit two weeks ago after 5 years) I got 20% off every day with three employee shops at 30% off per year and I got 60% off g-loomis rods 55% off st. croix rods and 70% off on kistlers so you can imagine the rods i use I believe they offer similar rod discounts at most major sporting good retailers. just a suggestion if you have the time.
