  1. OH ok thanks for clearing that up for me, so what your saying is that when I cast and I am watching my line and it twitches that is definatly not a fish and when I set the hook and reel in a fish it is not because I watched my slack line twitch indicating a bite. thank you for clearing that up for me.
  2. kids are like fishing...you gotta have patience with em'.
  3. I took my kids out this morning, they are 5 and 2. we started of with worms and a bobber and caught fish till they got bored, then I broke out my rod and tried to catch something bigger while they played around in the boat trying to grab weeds and playing with some of the sunnies we caught (when we catch sunnies I put them in a small cooler filled with water and let the kids mess with them before we throw them back) after they get bored i break out the snacks and I keep fishing, I got in around 45 minutes of bass fishing, then we went and caught a bunch more sunnies. in all we were out for 4 hours, the kids had a blast and they couldn't wait to tell mom about all the fish they caught. the first few times we went out I didn't get to fish at all, it was still to new but the more often we go the kids are able to entertain them selves and whenever I catch a bigger fish I give my son the rod and let him reel it in. this morning I asked them what we should do and both yelled lets go fishing! I love it, it is totally worth all the tangled lines.
  4. you may not feel the bite using braid on slack line but if you watch your line it will twitch, kind of like watching a bobber. I will stick with braid.
  5. and I think every bass fisherman should have a 7' med/heavy fast casting rod and a 6.2:1 gear ratio or so for a reel. this is one of the most versatile setups for bass fishing. great for spinnerbaits, t-rigged plastics, moderate frog work, jigs, lighter carolina rigs even deep cranks.
  6. I may be weird but use flukes almost strictly with spinning gear, reason being that for me I am skipping them under docks and tree's most of the time. I use a 6'6 med/heavy spinning rod and 20# suffix braid. I could probably do a bit better with a medium rod because of the light weight of the lure but I like the power of the med/heavy to pull the fish out from under the docks before they get wrapped on the dock poles.
  7. I get you man and I have been trying to convince myself to do the same thing for 3 years I just cant do it. when I fish a jig I cant make myself fish it for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. zero confidence. I have developed a new love for the shaky head though.
  8. C&S makes great calls! I have two and working on getting another. his calls are beautiful nice wood, shape and most importantly sound! he is a real stand up guy too, when I ordered my first call I had it engraved well the engraver held onto it for 3 months and mike made it right. he knocked some money off the second call I bought as well as gave me a free hat, hoodie, and t shirt. he was great to work with and again the calls sound great!
  9. you would hope so! we all have those days and while it sucks at the time a few weeks go by it make a great story.
  10. I have the best luck with noisy topwater during 3/4 moon or better. my best is a slow moving black buzzbait. I have also had good luck with colorado blade spinnerbaits.
  11. what was the moon phase when you were fishing. for me I will only night fish if there is a 3/4 moon or better and if it is clear skies. I have had too many of those long fishless nights to even bother with anything else. my most productive is a black and gold cavitron buzz bait.
  12. if I EVER get a hook in the testicles I will give up fishing that is just scary right there!
  13. I do the wrap the line around the rod trick too, it works awesome. I don't have a deck in my boat but I do have to pull 12 rods in and out of the truck every time I go fishing and it makes getting them from truck to boat a lot faster and safer on the rods.
  14. went out night fishing last night. we launched at 11:30 and left at 3:30 we caught 6 right away then we had some cloud cover roll in and block the moon and the bite stopped. we caught 2 more in about 2 hours so we called it quits. it was 80 degrees with what felt like 100% humidity and almost no wind. we sweat so much that the bug spray was just about useless. in all a good trip. we caught them all on black cavatron buzz baits.
  15. nothing wrong whatsoever. if you cant eat them or give them away at least bury them so they don't stink up the shoreline.

    Tattoos?

I have always wanted one, I just like the way they look even as a kid I would beg my mom to draw stuff on my arms. Yet I am 29 and still don't have one. I just cant commit to one I like enough and the ones I do like would be way too expensive. I have a wife and 2 kids there are so many other things I would rather spend 500 dollars on that tattoo's just aren't even on the radar any more. My wife has 2 and wants a third but there again coming up with the money it just seems a waste.
  17. G&H no doubt. they hold paint and I have never had issue with any, and I own around 10 doz G&H. they may not be as artistic as some of the other brands but the ducks don't care usually its the hunter that does.
  18. we used to replace them at gander mountain you may want to bring it in there. We used a hot epoxy like you would use on the ferrules in an arrow. works really well. and like said just heat the tip and and it should slide right off.
  19. the other way to go is get a hand held. I use a lowrance H2O which I have a lakemaster chip in. the screen is small and annoying but if money is a concern it is a cheaper alternitive. My depthfinder was $170 and my gps was $170 so $340 for both. I do wish it was all in one but come hunting season I am glad for the hand held.
  20. if you ever find deep structure it is a must have. mark the stuff you find, brush piles spawning areas etc. remember spot on the spot so yeah by lining up your boat with a farm house and the third telephone pole may get you close but gps will get you on it.
  21. I use a st.croix avid 7' med-heavy mod-fast and I love it. I also use braid which is supposed to be a big no no but I haven't had a problem. I love the sensitivity I get and it is so easy to tell when my bait isn't running right or if there is the slightest change in action. the smaller diameter line also helps me with casting distance.
  22. are you sure it is a spin cast reel? if so do not use braid, I have seen many spincast reels spooled with braid break, there is no give in braid and the plastic in most spincast reels just wont hold up. if it is a spinning reel then I would suggest braid
  23. 20# power pro and I'm sticken to it!
  24. flip flops cause I almost always have to get in the water to launch my boat or pick up
  25. not a chance. any time I see "ignite a feeding frenzy" or somthing similar in an advertisement I stay away. But if KVD uses it it must work great! right?
