  1. this is the second year I have been using suffix braid and I am confused. I went all last season absolutly loving the stuff. now this season I am ready to switch back to power pro, heres whats going on. I am using 14# and about every 10 hook sets or so when I set I break the line about 10 feet back from the lure. I have checked the guides on my rod and they are fine. I don't recall this happening at all last season. is the line old it is the same stuff I had on last year how often do you need to change braid. I still have one reel spooled with power pro that is going on 3 years with no issues. any ideas should I just switch back to power pro?
  2. I went out tuesday caught maybe 8 fish 2 guys 4 hours. went out friday 3 hours 2 guys in the afternoon caught a crappie barely bigger than my x-rap and a pike going around 1 lb on a sweet beaver. trying sunday we will see what happens I plan to go deeper 15' or so and fish really slow fishing a beaver or a lizard probably both confidence is very low as opposed to tuesday and friday. figures both times i went I brought a friend after telling them how well I had been doing.
  3. I had the wind loops all the time too when using a spinning reel. switched to suffix and haven't looked back. I use lighter 20# too.
  4. http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/location.html don't forget about the articles section in the top left corner of the page. lots of information.
  5. I have a 7'0 med moderate fast classic gold that I bought this spring I am loving it so far. very comfortable rod to fish. I usually throw baby -1's, bandit 100's and storm subwarts.
  6. i fish the north metro area medicine, bryant, minnetonka.
  7. going for numbers I would start with an xrap thrown to outside weed edges or any structure that would allow really, not working switch to a senko just about anywhere. if I was going for size i would t-rig a 10" worm and work slowly in maybe 10-14 feet of water just outside of a weed edge or drop off.
  8. I need more fishing obsessed friends. My name is Ken I am 27 I have two kids, a wife so life is busy but i still get out fishing every weekend with the occasional weekday trip. i have a boat, 16' lund, bench seats, camo doubles as duck boat. I wouldn't mind fishing with people of any skill level. I would place my self as maybe just above average as far as fish catching abilities go and I am always looking to improve or teach those less experienced. I have never done any tournament fishing but would like to try on a small scale, club tournaments or something. if you are interested send me a pm.
  9. I have been absolutly killing bass on rapala x-raps. I need more. I have 3 x raps and am looking to get some other brands so I am looking for suggestions on good jerkbaits.
  10. slap some mega strike on there. sounds to me like they are interested but not quite willing to commit.

  13. duck hunting is my favorite with bass fishing a very close second
  14. lures used manns baby 1- manns wake bait zoom super fluke (did catch a 7 lb northern on this at least i caught something) 5 inch senko rapala x-rap spro frog weather was 70 degrees, pretty windy, the water temp was 65 degrees, water visibility was around 6 inches. I tried to use bright colors and baits with rattles. are there any types of weed that bass will avoid? my buddy who i was talking with said he didn't catch fish in that type of vegitation and that he avoided it.
  15. I was fishing a new lake this morning and had a tuff time of it. the lake is pretty large and shallow with lots of stumps, rocks, points, brush etc.. the problem at least i think it is a problem is that the lake is full of this curlyleaf pond weed. i mean it is every where every spot i tried to fish was just thick with it. the lake is pretty shallow 18 is the deep spot, the water was really green too. I talked to a buddy who said he never catches fish in that stuff. I know the lake is supposed to have good bass numbers so i guess they are there. I guess i am just wondering what other peoples experience has been with this weed. should I avoid it or fish it differently. a pic of this weed http://pondsrx.com/ProductImages/curly%20leaf%20pondweed.jpg
  16. I had to turn the sound off to watch it and i was just waiting for the rod to snap when you grabbed the blank. other wise nice video I wish i had decent shore fishing around here.
  17. awesome stuff and it lasts forever. i put it on just about every plastic i throw and I am still using the tube I bought 2 years ago. cheap at twice the price. (please dont get any ideas bobbie)
  18. I put them in plano boxes. I did this last year for the first time, the lids bowed a bit but they still latch shut so i think i am good for a while. it is really nice when trying to find something. i always hated the pile of bags. here is a pic
  19. the spider man rod got a work out today! My son Jason caught around 15 sunnies and a crappie and this bass in around an hour.
  20. im not a junkie i just need to have 2 of every thing possible on the market that might one day be the only thing that fish will hit.
  21. manns baby 1-, bandit footloose 100, storm subwart.
  22. I wonder what happened. I have been out every weekend since ice out and have yet to see a single bed on this lake. i am hearing about other lakes in the area where the spawn is starting. the weeds are alot thicker than they were last year could that have anything to do with it, are they spawning deeper?
  23. I alway thought bass would spawn around 60 degrees or so. my local lake is sitting between 58-60 right now. I went this morning and didn't see a single bed. I did notice that i caught a lot of smaller 1-2 lbers in 6-8 feet of water and marked a bunch of fish around 12-14. is this the fish staging for spawn?
