  1. That is what we experinced yesterday as well. The sun came out around noon and we found 54 degree water and we started getting bit. I landed a fat 3+ on a swimbait waking it just under the surface in the grass. It was thrilling to see it come out of the water when it smashed it. We marked lots of fish both days in 15-20 fow and threw everything at them just could not get them to bite. All of ours these past two days came in 4-8 fow around grass. We thought it got pretty rough out there just before yesterdays storm but this morning with 30 degree temps and NW wind it looked rough and scary out there. We trailered up and drove back to Conroe. The weather was up and down all weekend and we didnt like it and neither did the fish. We will be back in about a month when the weather warms up
  2. Catt I have read everything you have written over and over these past two months and being this is our second trip out to the big pond i feel like you have given us a chance to actually have a good day out here. We are close to finding them. If your are at the lake this we would really like to meet you. You said fin and feather has the best burger around if you would like to meet us there we would be honored to buy you lunch. And we have two boats with plenty of room if you would like to wet a line. We will be here till monday. Thanks for everything
  3. Well this place can be very humbling...... My partner caught a 3 1/2 on a black and blue craw bait in at 7 am in 4 ft of water. We just lauched the boat and was fishing our way out to 18 ft of water. We tried doing what felt comfortable and stayed shallow for the first hour. We made it to a creek bend with two points and the river a stone throw away. We focused in 15-20 fow but tried to stay in 18 fow. We saw quite a few fish on the graph and we graphed giant schools of baitfish from 25-40 fow in the creek channels. Toledo Gold Rattle Trap, white skirt double gold willow leaf spinner bait, black and blue football jig, green swim jig, watermelon red 12 in jelly worm and dt 16 crankbait were my weapons of choice. I know Catt says if you dont get a bite on the trap or spinnerbait throw it in the box and forget about them. I love to crank so i kept them out too long and didnt touch the jig and worm as much as i would have liked to. Water was 49 at sunrise and 52 at sundown 54 in the back of the coves we visited. It was a tough day that one bite is the only one the three of us had in 9 hours. We found some really amazing spots with fish in 18 fow just could not get them to turn on. Tournament out of fin and feather this weekend and there were 12-15 boats in jesse lowe bay, we stayed there all day and never even got on plane. I feel like this weather had them in a funk, i know someone out there caught them today, we didnt see anone boat a fish all day. Sorry for the long read, going to have a shrimp boil and going to hit it hard the next to days.
  4. We were going to try to make it for the get together but schedules would not allow. So we are headed up there tomorrow afternoon. The weather is going to be the greatest, but what can you do! Going to have a crank, trap, jig, worm, and spinnerbait tied on. Hopefully I will have service out there so I can post a report to share. If you see a red Ranger with white power poles stop and say hello. We will be any where from housen to millionare point. Thanks for everything, this is my second trip out there and feel like i might be able to find them this time!
  5. I'm a little late to this post, I just found out about this site. Conroe can be very humbling..... TPWD put grass carp in years ago to turn into a more friendly recreation lake. The fishing can be great at times weekdays are the best. Boat docks are very popular the ones with deep water are better. I've caught some good fish around rip rap north and south end. Seven coves bass club is the largest in the area, there are several others as well. Stowaway has a friendly Sunday tourney and April plaza has Tues and Thurs night touneys 6-9 pm 3 fish, around 15 lbs will win it most of the time. I'm out there quite a bit hope you had a good year out there
  6. Howdy yall' my name is Jonathan White. I grew up with a Jon boat and a small pond and that's what we did, was pond fish. I was able to get out on Lake Conroe from time to time. Fast forward to today and Lake Conroe is where I spend most my free time. I never seriously fished it when it was full of grass, I'm used to seeing carp tails everywhere! We made our first trip to the big pond last November the week after George Herr caught his big bag. The cabin we were staying in is just south of millionares point near alligator cove. That big cold front just hit and it was starting a warming trend that week with rain 3 out of the four days we were there. We had a idea to start a little deeper but right away I caught two 4 1/2 lbers on a frog in 3-4 fow at 2pm. We stuck to that pattern till dusk without another strike. The frog bite happened again the next morning with my buddy catching two nice ones,. The next two days we went to Indian mounds, white oak, housen, and hurricane focusing on the grass edge lines and some punching as well. Only had a couple of drinks in the boat. We were in awe of the big pond. It is heaven on earth!! Then last week I found this forum and have not been able to stop reading! We were in the right spots just not fishing them properly. Thank you very much for teaching us this class CATT. Also thank you Bass_fanatic, Bearonthewater, Shanus, Long Mike, Wesley, Tbendbassin, Ronnie, Skeeterdon, Many boy, Cajunpapi, Expresskid, Mguidroz, Body, Toledomard928 and I'm sure I missed a few. My fishing partner and I will be trying to make 4-6 trips out there this year and we would really enjoy meeting y'all this spring at fin in feather. Thanks for everything and god bless
