  1. my 6' st croix premier spinning rod tip insert popped out. never replaced a rod tip before but want to give it a try. The following rod tip repair kit has three tips. is one of them the right size for my rod? http://www.basspro.com/Fuji-Rod-Tip-Repair-Kit/product/16514/ thanks
  2. u can get the new model for the same price. 2 bad the smaller sized ones are sold out. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Pflueger-Supreme-Spinning-Reel-SUPSP40&i=822064 i got mine for $40 last year.
  3. thanks for sharing. i now know where to send my reels. but i have questions, does it make sense to buy a used reel and send it to a pro to fix it? can u still save some coins that way? why not buy a new reel?
  4. i use the same rod for jigging walleye. this is the first time i heard of ned rig. i want to try it for both bass & walleye
  5. which model? I tried the previous model and didn't like it. It's two heavy & big for my liking. I then bought a lexa 1500 and am pretty happy with it so far.
  6. is there any slop in the gear/handle? if so you might need to shim it to make it feel smooth. i'd flush all the bearings to see if that improves it. a worn out worm gear/pawl could also cause it to act up.
  7. i guess it is their price strategy. most times the same deals will be back unless sold out.
  8. I'd spend about $10 more get the newest version from GM after rebate & free gift card.
  9. very nice rod. I'd not buy it at retail price since shimano no longer offers lifetime warranties. is this online deal?
  10. a lot of reel gears are made of duralumin nowadays. I never heard of people having trouble with lubing duralumin gears. It is very possible that there is another issue. one missing washer could cause the reel to squeak too, it happened to me one time
  11. also, they should be able to look it up if purchased with a credit card.
  12. tyler, see this http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=13.0
  13. what went wrong? how did u fix it?
  14. I like shimano rods but I just don't like the new warranty. It did impact my decision as I bought all st croix last December.
  15. Shimano will honor lifetime warranty if the rod has a lifetime warranty tag on it.
  16. I don't know about the new Accurist PTI, but I owned a size 20 of the previous version. The clutch bearing got rusty after a season. I did fish in the rain though. There was also clicking noise when the spool was at farthest position. That being said, it handled a few 6+ lb catfish, bass, and walleye with ease thanks to its nice drag.
  17. the handle slop on stradic ci4+ drives me nuts. for that i like stradic fj better. I mainly use 1000 size spinning reels so weight is not a big factor for me.
  18. i'd get the shimano clarus at $50. It is a good rod from my experience. the warranty on all Shimano rods is changing to a Limited One Year warranty this year, but if you buy a rod has limited lifetime warranty tag on it shimano will honor it.
  19. the stradic ci4 1000 is just lighter. If i use shorter rod i'd go with ci4 for balance purpose. all three are good reels. you cannot go wrong with shimano.
  20. The differences are main gear materials and bails. The stradic fj's main gear is made of duralumin. The stradic fj also has a one-piece bail. The saros has a compact design. If you have large hands it might hurt your knuckles. I like both. Performance wise I cannot tell any difference.
  21. I use #6 fireline crystal for jigging walleye in fast current. It's thin diameter, strength, abrasion resistance, and high visibility are great in fast moving water with lots of snags/boulders.
  22. I like lighter spinning rods. 1000 size spinning reels are my favorites. I use 4-6 lb mono, 6-8 lb fire line, and 10 lb power pro for different species in different situations. I rarely had any line management issues.
  23. I got a 2000 at the end of last year but haven't had a chance to try it yet. It feels light, smooth, and solid in hand.
  24. I had bad experience with Daiwa budget spinning reels in the past. They get really sloppy after a few months of use. Daiwa's mid-range to high end spinning reels are decent. I like my Lexa and Certate.
