  1. Thanks eveybody... I'm trying to get my wife to video me doing some of the steps when making them to put on here .. She's not thrilled with the idea hahaha... Anyway I'm glad yall like them ... theres nothing more satisfying then catching a big old spot on a bait you made

  4. Hello to forum members. I live in Alabama and fish mostly the Coosa River chain of Lakes and the Cahaba River. I've fished Lay lake since I was able to walk and my most fond memories growing up envoled a rod and reel. I have been a full time Firefighter/Paramedic for the last 11years. I have three young sons who love to fish and a wife who wishes they didn't hahaha... My sons and I also race dirtbikes hare scrambles&enduro mostly. People always say I'm a jack of all trades but one of my passions is making Handmade Balsa Crankbaits. Here are some pics of my boys and my crankbaits.
  5. If you want your darker colors to stand out more and pop not just kinda blend ...lay your base green down then where you are gonna do your vertical stripes then hit the stripe part with a dark gold or dark sliver ... Then when you do your dark blue for the stripe try dark blue translucent over that ... Hope that make sense haha... Good luck
  6. Good advise ... The only thing I might add is getting a decent air brush like a paasche for $50-75 might save some headaches in the long run haha... I haven't used the harbor freight one so it might be just fine but back when I started making crankbaits I used a cheap airbrush and wasted so much time and effort trying to make my baits look like I wanted ... I actually dug out that old airbrush the other day and tried to paint a cull bait I carved. I really just wanted to see if it was me or the airbrush that was crappy in the early days ... Turned out it was a little of both but even with good technique that airbrush didn't paint up to par...
  7. I usually get the cheap ones from Walmart for like $6-8 then if the get lost or funky just pitch them
  8. Not to get to complicated haha.... Having friends and family that are color blind has made me come up with a theory.... When you see something that's a specific color lets say red ... If your not color blind anyone would answer if asked that it's red .... Now why did they say it's red? Because when they were younger someone told them that color was called red .... With that said that doesn't mean we all see that color the same or for that matter that we even see the same color at all...we give colors name that have been passed down ... I don't think we all see colors the same way and I don't think bass do either.... Science is not perfect or exact even though it strives to be and until we know all there is to know about the brain and how it works I will be sticking to my theory hahaha....
