  1. I buy rods to fish with and not look at the guide wraps.
  2. Ned Drop Shot Whopper Plopper
  3. What makes them more accurate than a standard reel?
  4. This is right on the money. Very versatile rods. Just enough tip and backbone for almost any technique. I haven’t tried the new bucoo but the old models have some of the best action and balance of any rod I’ve used. The new low riders are just as great but with noticeable better sensitivity. The Cara line takes it up to another level. All of Falcon’s rod lines really seem to have a great cost to performance ratio.
  5. If you get them free shipping that’s a $30 savings. Go for it!
  6. My opinion is based on first hand experience against rods costing much less. Everyone feels something different with a rod in their hands.
  7. I like my old model bucoo micros but I think the new low rider is a superior rod for the money. I’ve had some $200 rods from other manufacturers that were not not nearly as nice.
  8. The 844 seems suited for 3/8 to 1/2 oz but I have thrown 3/4oz on it. If the 89X rods follows the ratings of the 84X I would definitely go 895 based on my experience.
  9. The falcon low rider 7’ mh fast is a really great rod. Very versatile, light and sensitive.
  10. Whichever rod allows you to cast the lure effectively is the rod you need. Keeping fish “pinned” or “pulling the lure out of the fishes mouth” are highly overrated. Just use a rod that feels good casting and puts the lure where you are aiming.
  11. No ewg hooks for me.
  12. Black with yellow stripes has was my favorite when I was a kid.
  13. Vibration is a word often used out of context when it come to rod sensitivity. Sensitivity when comparing rods has little or nothing to do with vibration. To me it boils down to the rotation of your wrist or the load placed on your fingers as you hold the rod and the line has added or subtracted pull. To answer the OP’s question, I feel shorter rods transmit line movements to the hands of the fisherman better than longer rods. Balance, torque, leverage all are a factor on how your hand and ultimately your brain interprets the line movement.
  14. Do not use ewg hooks. Round bend offset hooks work better for me. If using an ewg is required for a particular presentation I’ll find something else to throw.
  15. I think the new low rider is quite a few steps ahead of the old bucoo line. I’ve never used the bucoo sr. The new low rider is a very nice rod for the money.
  16. I think size 5 is what you need.
  17. Do you normally skip with a XH? I would have trouble skipping with an XH rod in general. I stick with MH or HVY. The SV is setup to skip better than other Daiwa reels but I would think that reel would be up to the task as well. I don’t particularly like braid for skipping and fresh powerpro is pretty unruly on its own. You might just need more time “on the diving board”. Great idea btw.
  18. My take is a very supple line like tatsu has poor shock strength so you need a “long” piece of it to absorb the load. Leader material is stiffer and has higher shock strength so you can get by with a shorter length. It is always a game of give and take with fishing line offerings.
  19. Better than tatsu or better than blue label?

  21. Daiwa Tatula and Falcon Lowriders are nice rods in that price range.
  22. 16lb fluorocarbon mainline, 3/4oz sinker, small spro swivel , 14lb mono leader and a 3/0 round bend offset worm hook. Reel down and sweep. You will rarely miss.
