Why not spool up with the same 6# you use on the spinning setup? I use 8 lb nylon mono and flouro often without issue. I have used 6 on a baitcaster as well and don’t remember any problems.
In the falcon rod lineup I would use a heavy rod. Medium heavy in the falcon line really isn’t the rod for plastics.
6’10” or 7’ heavy falcons are what I use. The 6’10” and 7’ med heavy are a topwater rod in my opinion.
My hookup ratio is very good with round bend and very poor with ewg. I’m sure others have just the opposite results but for my style it is 99% round bend offset and I do very well with them.
Cavitron has many fans but I was not pleased with them. Keep your rod tip up and reel as slow as you can and it will help with your problem. I just got a Rowdy buzzbait and feel like it runs slower and more true than my Cavitrons.
Slack line Braid is not a good conductor of transmitting what’s happening under water. Give fluorocarbon a shot and it should help with bite detection.
And to also clarify another area of confusion. Reels are measured in gear ratio not “speed”. 6 speed or 7 speed would indicate the amount of gear ratios within a device. Like a 3 speed transmission in a truck or a 10 speed bicycle.
6:1 or 7:1 is how reel gear ratios should be expressed.
