I’m a falcon rod guy. That said I never found a Falcon spinning rod that I liked. I had Bucoo all the way to Cara.
I bought a shimano Expride 2-3 years ago. I like it but never fell in love with it.
I just got a Dobyns sierra 703 spinning this week for my niece. I have only thrown it in the yard but I absolutely love it so far. I will fish it tomorrow and if I like it I’ll sell you a lightly used Expride for the price of another sierra for myself! 😂
I’m still reading the original post as you have 6 batteries total. The other posts make me think k you have 5 batteries. Can you clarify how many you have total?
My best comparison of nylon mono vs flouro is with the Carolina rig
Good nylon mono on a Carolina rig feels like you are dragging a dish towel on your hook. Good flouro lets you feel the bottom and what your lure is doing so much better.
If you can’t feel the difference please continue to use nylon mono.
For those weights and lures I would recommend the Cara Heavy Cover or Swim Jig. I had some older Falcon Amistad rods and they were good for 3/8oz and up.
I like the falcon Cara and Expert line better the gloomis glx rods. So much so that I would trade my glx rods to anyone wanting to get rid of a falcon Cara or Expert.
The Falcons rods are light weight , sensitive, well built , durable.
Go online and check out tips from vendors until you find what you need. Measure your rod tip diameter and guide size.
It shouldn’t be any more difficult than posting on a forum to vent your frustration .
I don’t find that unorthodox at all. My rod and reel combinations fit like a glove and I rarely need to reposition my hand for casting or retrieving. I cast left and reel right. Casting or spinning. My rod hand stays in the same position 95% of the time.
I am speaking about stick baits in general and not just the Yamamoto brand. I’m also downing the wacky rig technique.
Honestly I typically catch dinks on them wacky rigged and I feel like I’m taking the easy way out on a tough day fishing when using the wacky rig. The senko or stick bait in general are a good lure though.
I do occasionally use a senko for Carolina rigging or a shaky head. In the event that you see me wacky rigging one you can rest assured that I’m not only having a bad day but more than likely I have zeroed for more outings than I care to admit.
