  1. Congrats to kvd on a well deserved win. Looks like he figured out Toledo bend this time. Well next weekend is the big bass splash. Let's just say I won't be anywhere near Toledo bend next weekend. Way too many boats on the water! Good luck to anyone on here that's gonna be fishing it. Hope ya get a big un!
  2. Looks like KVD is off to a good start on the elite series tournament. He has always struggled on Toledo. I'd like to see him win here.
  3. Check out the Powell max 3D 725 Crankbait rod, at Shelton's clothing for $99 shipped. It's perfect for spinner baits and chatterbaits. It's a medium heavy moderate fast rod that'll throw 5x's and dd22's effectively and wouldn't have a problem with what you want to do with it. A lot of power in mid section and not as flimsy as glass rods
  4. Falcon low rider xd cranker. Made for the 10xd.
  5. Here's a little bit of my tackle. I try to stay organized but...... It gets outta control sometimes
  6. I have a hammer 7'3 hvy and an nrx 7'1"hvy. I gaurantee you the hammer is lighter. Sensitivity is amazing. Don't fool yourself and think the nrx rods are really fast and extra fast. My nrx 803jwr & 854jwr rods have a pretty parabolic action, especially compared to the same models of glx & imx. Kinda like how the mbr844 differs in imx & glx models. Big difference. Just my thoughts though, from someone with all above mentioned rods
  7. That'll be a personal issue. Ones round the other low profile which you already know. Neither will disappoint. Either will be a great buy. Can't really go wrong
  8. Get it. Palms way better than the original. I love my ct type r
  9. I haven't tried a lipless on it, but that's how bill dance used it when I first seen the lure. He was tearing them up with it as usual. Lol
  10. This might be a little ghetto but I use a small Plano 6 compartment dual sided box for hooks. I take the zerust blue dividers from a flambeau box and cut it into strips and place in each compartment to help with preventing rust. Seems to work fine so far.
  11. Booyah boo rig. make sure your lure is heavier than the head or it'll turn in flight and the line will constantly get tangled around the head. Even the snapping it before rig hits the water trick doesn't help much. 1/4 oz head should be perfect for most applications.
  12. I'm actually a big fan the trigger x baits. Flappin craw, flappin bug, big moe, slop hopper and swimming worms are my favorite. They are durable and catch fish for me. I buy them when I can since they are no longer made
  13. Many years ago I had some gilraker worms that were clear with red and blue flake.
  14. Just got back from fishing housen. Started late due to the rains this morning. Launched at 944 with hopes of fish in buck brush. Slow bite until the sun was out for a coupe of hours. Bull creek was heavily stained and 65 degrees. Only a couple of small ones there. Went to ash more where the water was clearer and temp 67. Caught nicer fish there. Flipping jigs in the heaviest cover. The fish were holding tight to cover for sure. At least for us they were. Many boats working areas of hay grass. Over all a decent day with some solid 2-3's. I'm hoping by next week they'll be more fish shallow
  15. The exo is phenomenal. You will love casting it. The drag is good too. I love these reels.
  16. Works for me. All these beauties stay in great working order.
  17. I have saltwater fished (surf & deep water jigging/popping) for many years and never had a reel seize up or bearings rust on me. Here's what I do. Disclaimer: this is what I do and has worked successfully, ymmv. After each outing I tighten the drags and submerge my reels in the tub with warm water. I also run water on the spool(all reels spools with braid). I let it soak long enough to where I feel the braid has been cleansed of the saltwater. Afterwards I shake off and let dry on towels. The grease stays put on the inside and I put light oil on certain areas. light rinsing won't stop the saltwater in your line to affect the spool down deep. Aluminum will get damaged if done enough. Reels that have been put through battles include, Stella 20k FA & SW, twinpower 8k, saltiga 6k, saltiga expedition, accurate sr12,20 &30's, older team DAIWA 5000hia, accurate 665, 665nn 2sp, 197 2sp, OJ 4000, Trinidad 10a, multiple DAIWA sealine/grand wave. And those sealine reels have been submerged more than they should have in the surf. Still smooth as the day I bought them.
  18. I have 5 chronarch e series and 4 energy reels. They are both great reels. You won't go wrong with either. They both cast great, have good drags and get better with use. The newer gray/orange energy reels are great for the $100 range you can get them for.
  19. Take a look at the falcon low rider xd cranker rod. Its made for 10xd's but it'll work for jigs too
  20. Academy had a pure chartreuse rattle trap style bait many years ago. I recently gave one away with my other cheaper baits. Yozuri makes a yellow one but has a darker top and an Excalibur chartreuse shad(foxy momma?) I'll try to get a photo of the one I gave away.
  21. Excellent casters. The spool will spin for an impressive amount of time. I had one 10+ years ago and enjoyed using it. Held up to many stripers and hybrids. Mine was the grey and blue eon. There is a black and gold eon that's quite expensive
  22. I was referring to the people who come into the store and complain. Complaining to a worker about prices is ridiculous. I don't have a problem with someone trying to save money. But don't run your mouth about someone's prices. Either buy or don't.
  23. Great job. 6 years is entirely too long to not bass fish. What's wrong with you man!!?!?!?lol
  24. If the local shop has what I need I pay the asking price. Common sense will tell you that the small stores will be more expensive. Those are jackasses that complain. If I want a discount I'll order them but if I need them now I'll buy with no hesitation. Just like when on the water and there's a certain bait that's biting and your partner doesn't have any.....the price goes up on the water! Lol.
