  1. wannabe rockstar here. Been playing for 30 years. i should be a lot better than i am but i enjoy making noise with my buddies
  2. Cheap components. Poor customer service. The MBR rods are not like the gloomis MBR series, these are more for heavier use.
  3. Try owner hooks. Never had a problem with fish coming unbuttoned with them. I have noticed with Trojan hooks is that they make a large hole from the hook and fish come off easier. Stopped using them for that reason and they tear up plastics of rigged weedless
  4. If your really concerned about a bass bleeding then you shouldn’t be fishing.
  5. 4 inches in rod length won’t give you a noticeable difference in distance.
  6. Get the 853. Can use it for all of them. Don’t need to cast to the other side of the lake. Your hook sets won’t be that effective.
  7. Hammer 7’3” heavy. Perfect handle length for kayak. Great overall heavy rod. Light as any comparable nrx. And you’ll save a bunch of money. You could get the heavy and extra heavy version for your price point
  8. Flukes and weightless trick worms. If they don’t bite these then fish elsewhere....
  9. Use an anchor for your kayak. You’ll be able to work an area throughly with bottom contact baits. You’ll also be able to work your crankbaits more effectively.
  10. Push the insert back in, put a small bead of epoxy around the insert and frame ensuring the inside of the insert is free of epoxy. It should hold fine after that, unless the tip frame is cracked.
  11. Best bang for the buck- yozuri 3db best overall- yellow magic.
  12. Cortland masterbraid and the 16 strand braid are excellent lines. I’ve used them for years fishing in saltwater(inshore/offshore). Great quality and strong.
  13. I have all 3 reels and they will do everything the others will do just fine. I use the bantam for jigs and heavier Texas rigs. The metanium for light t rigs and senko/fluke applications. And the curado for moving baits.
  14. I believe there are in all stages of the spawn. Some on beds, some starting to make beds. Some already guarding. And definitely bass still waiting to move up. I’m just thankful for the ones that bite. I’ve seen a lot of beds with fish on it recently, but those wouldn’t bite and I didn’t spend much time with them. The females that did bite where probably on beds that I couldn’t see.
  15. The nrx 853c has slightly less backbone than the glx 853. the glx 853jwr is an almost the perfect rod imo. Can work 3/8 jigs effortlessly. But since you want a do it all rod id say go with the glx mbr844. Now that is the perfect rod.
