  1. That is sad about a rep not knowing his own brand. But I own 2 type R tatulas and a lexa and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I wouldn't mind trying a new curado but the price that the tatulas can be found for on the internet are unbeatable for the value
  2. I've been trying to make due with an ugly stik gx2 that my brother in law got me but its just a tad on the heavy side for me even being a bigger guy and the trigger isn't too comfortable when casting either. Just looking for some suggestions on a decent crankbait rod prefferably 8-17lb rated medium price limit less than 50$
  3. Id get a regular Tatula for 90 or a Type R tatula for 125 then you have a lot left for a rod or maybe 2 different rods for different applications
  4. I have 2 tatula type R's I also got a lexa 100 earlier in the year since i found it new for 60$. My recommendation is the tatula but I discovered something interesting yesterday. I went out fishing with the lexa for the first time and caught a few decent pickerel and a small largemouth and I was throwing a rapala scatter rap shad the 05 model. I was already impressed because I thought I was throwing a 1/4 oz lure and was getting nice distance with it with 12lb vanish floro however this morning i researched the lure and come to find out the size 5 scatter rap weighs in at 3/16oz so I'm pretty impressed with the casting of the reel having a traditional levelwind vs. the T-wing of the tatula and only having magforce breaking and not the magforce z or 3d. just my input. you can get 2 lexas on ebay for the price of 1 type r Tatula and though I love my tatulas thats a deal that can't be beat.
  5. I loved my first Type R 8.1:1 tatula so much i just got a second 6.3:1 type R tatula. I never used baitcasters a whole lot and I'm able to cast 1/4oz rapala xraps a good ways even into the wind. I've pulled in a couple of 15-18lb striped bass in strong current at a dam while generating. The drag is pretty solid as well.
  6. You mean from the problematic reel belonging to Bbodkin?
  7. I agree with Delaware. when you push the cast switch the pinion retracts further into the gear side housing to "free float" the spool, and if the mechanism that controls that action isnt fully engaging then the spool pin my be clanking on the tip of the pinion gear. As far as the scratching goes, It could be the lip of the spool rubbing against the frame maybe from being knocked out of alignment by the spool shaft/pin clanking against the pinion gear.
  8. I didn't have much experience dissassembling baitcasters and It was real fun when i removed the magnetic brake dial and had to try to insert it again with the proper gear alignment with the magnet gear. Took me almost 1.5 hours to realize the proper way to do it is this http://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product/1458scroll down for instructions.
