  1. The new ulterra is much, much better. A lot smarter on the spot and the jog feature lets you move around without losing the “lock”
  2. That’s not going to kill a Battle 2. After some time you might notice the retrieve resistance increasing or even binding. At that point you’ll have to open the side plate, remove the corroded grease, and then re-grease the gears and re-oil the bearings.
  3. Mist or lightly spray reel, spray the rod down every night. The goal is to rinse off any salt spray without forcing it into the reel. Its a full on saltwater submersion that you’re going to want to avoid. A little spray isn’t going to hurt it. A more complete wipe down and deep cleaning may be periodically necessary.
  4. My biggest issue has been the first joint separating too much so that it has the flexibility to snag the back hook. Tying the tails on with line works better than toothpicks.
  5. y’all should try saltwater fly fishing?
  6. I froze my promariner in a block of ice and it still works. Good luck.
  7. “Huddleston Deluxe, Inc. filed a patent infringement, copyright infringement, and unfair competition lawsuit last week in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against Bass Pro Shops.” the court filing: https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cand.325078/gov.uscourts.cand.325078.1.0.pdf?et=editorial&bu=Law&cn=20180413&src=EMC-Email&pt=Skilled%20in%20the%20Art Seems like Huddleston has a pretty good case, especially regarding their patent and copyrights. Is the little guy going to be able to stand up to the mighty BPS? I hope so.
  8. Yes, an option to pause comes up on the screen. It’s either the top left or right button
  9. Hatch 5+ Sage Motive 6 Hatch 7+ Scott Meridian 8 Love them both?
  10. I suggest jerkbaits for blind casting, jigs or dropshot for sight fishing beds. A prop bait will work but if you have one day to fish, stick with something that’s going to produce more numbers. Color doesn’t matter.
  11. Your only chance on the West coast might be Naples. You’re better off making the two hour trip to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami.
  12. Small jerkbaits, crankbaits, and topwater. They will be on beds in Miami by February so small jigs and dropshot baits will work well too. Any color will work but the brighter varieties match local exotics.
  13. Started this fall and have been spoiled to say the least. Have converted to 100% fly for most applications. I will go back to throwing big swimbaits and jigs for bass this summer on conventional tackle.
  14. 435 bass and pike. 100+ snook
  15. X-rap XR06!
  16. That shot is of a different boat. Check the wrap.
  17. This is from last year but it might give you a good idea: Console 1 Helix 10 right side imaging 1 Helix 10 left side imaging 1 Lowrance HDS 12 mapping / 2D Bow 1 Helix 10 360 imaging 1 Lowrance HDS 12 mapping / 2D See for yourself https://www.flwfishing.com/tips/2016-09-13-on-norman-with-bryan-thrift
  18. I really liked my Ulterra until I deployed it off the front of my boat last weekend.... *was recovered
  19. I bought the 6’ piano hinge from Amazon. The brand was Stanley and seemed to be a high quality hinge with a solid gauge. I did screw into the grain, hatch first then deck. I used every other hole so that it closed tighter. The deck was supported underneath at the seam to reduce vertical pressure on the hinge screws. With no real stress being applied to the connection i’m hoping it will stay solid. Most of the lakes I fish it’s a drop the trolling motor and start casting deal. When you don’t have an outboard you fish from point A to B. The foot well created a bench that was enough for me to sit down and retie or relax if need be.
  20. yes. a project inspired by frustration?
  21. The frame started with this trapezoidal support that rested against the aluminum supports to prevent it from shifting backwards. 2x4s along the floor, a tight side to side fit, and overall weight of the deck prevented it from shifting up/forward while trailering. I chose to not attach the back deck to minimize hull modification although I easily could have. No issues while fishing but it slid forward slightly on the road.
  22. 2 100N. They weren't enough. Mostly due to their size (12") and the weight of the hatches.
