  1. Fishing an event like a ABA Weekend Series or FLW BFL as a coangler is a great way to learn other techniques. For about $100 you get a full day with somebody you've likely never met. It was very helpful to me when I began learning new techniques and bodies of water.
  2. I throw mine on a 7'6 Medium Heavy or Heavy. Seems to work good for me.
  3. I've thrown the 10XD extensively and I've come up with two different setups. One for flouro and one for mono. For mono, I use a Duckett 7'10" XHC Micro Pro. This is a flipping stick but with the mono you get some stretch that allows you to play the fish. If I use flourocarbon I use a Duckett 7'6" MHC Micro Pro. This rod has some more bend which gives you some give to fight the fish. Basically with the mono, I use the line to give and with the flouro I use the rod to give. Theres no way I would actually throw the bait on a "Crankin" rod. It just doesn't have enough power to handle this size bait. Also, try casting it like an A-Rig, with a longer, smoother lob cast than the normal snap of throwing small crankbaits.
  4. I know several guys that use them and they really like them. I've seen them used first hand and they worked well. They've got some cool paint jobs and use quality components.
  5. Pretty much the same as everybody above. Swim: Two colors- bluegill, shad/white. 3/8 for all around, 1/2 for deeper stuff and when its tough and I want the bait to stay down and work slower. Football: TightLine Jigs in 1/2 and 3/4. Like ww2farmer, I think they should stay on the bottom so no need for light weight. Mostly black and blue, green pumpkin, or Guntersville Special (kind of a mix between the two) Usually use a NetBait Paca Chunk or Strike King Rage Tail, depending on how much action I want. Don't really use a stand up jig so no real opinion on that.
  6. I think it would be cool in the opening round to have two different ways to qualify. Maybe three guys with the most weight, and then one spot for the guy with the heaviest 5. Would be interesting to see who went for bigger fish and who went for numbers.
  7. I've got a boat load of Ducketts and the only time I've had a problem with QC was when I knocked guides off pulling out of the rod locker. The Ghost for $100 is a great rod and if you've found the MicroMagic for $100 thats a really sweet deal. I've dealt with their customer service department numerous times and I can say for sure its the best I've ever dealt with.
  8. I like the Duckett Fishing White Ice 7'3" Heavy for pitching jigs and t-rigs around. The rod has a lot of backbone and still soft enough to work the bait. Also like the little bit shorter length because I think it gives me more control. I've been using the Duckett reel since the end of last summer and its worked great. I use Sunline FX2 braid when I can get away with it, Vicious Flourocarbon if the waters real clear. If you're flipping a big weight (1 oz - 1 1/2 oz), I would suggest going up to the 7'9" XHC. Same reel, only braid for this heavy cover.
  9. They don't have the same braking system as your BPS. Also, not made in China. They've been working on the reels for two years, so I wouldn't exactly call that selecting somebody's product and painting it. I've used these reels since they were available, right after ICAST. I've never had anything that would throw as far as these can.
  10. They have a 6'10" Medium that would be perfect for what your talking about. And as far as the discoloration, I know they will replace the old ones that turned yellow. None of the new ones change colors now.
  11. I've been using these reels since they came out last year at ICAST. The best part to me is the casting distance. Better than anything I've ever thrown. I heard from somebody at the company that they should have lefties by the end of the year.
