  1. No. I love the line but sucks for top water LC Sammy's
  2. Steez xbd frog rod with a zillion pe special 65 lb suffix performance braid and spro poopping frogs. I like a white brown and black frog in my box.
  3. I get mine from Serbert. I wish I would have gone with simple jig colors a lot of dollars ago. Use the trailer to add accent.
  4. Might be able to find a used set of jumpers at a garage sale or flea market. Good deals always happen after you do something else
  5. I was guessing your battery was in back and your units in front. For my idea I thought you would want one power wire to supply for both sonar and hydrowave. Less wires to screw with. Does your units not have installed fuses? Larger wire has less resistance and gives better power transfer. As stated single conductor wire is not good for a boat IMO. Are you running one battery for everything? How long are your runs. I default to having reserve as if I want to add another load I will not have to start over. Everyone has their own ways.
  6. The spro snaps are great. I use the small on trout spinners and cranks. I use the middle size on bass cranks and jerk bait.
  7. The length of run between battery and motor makes a big difference. The longer the run the larger the gauge I prefer. The fish finder should do fine on 10 or 12 gauge.
  8. I to like the stren sonic braid. I found it super cheap on the auction site and gave a few spools a go. I have been using the same line for three years. The suffix performance braid is my other first choice. I like and use them after using 832/ppss8/pp and I lile them better. I am curious about the 8 carrier tuff line and may try that some day.
  9. I liked casting and trolling flatraps. I thought it was a crankbait for quite a while. Very versatile.
  10. I got one of the high modulus kits they come with nice guides.
  11. I would grab any variant of alphas. There great out of the box and have some spools and dress up parts available. There a reel that I only own 4 of but the newest version is available for preorder at Japantackle for 250. I have not used the newest version yet but that's only because there not available. The sv spool gets great reviews. The newest is a small risk but the best option if nib is the only option.
  12. I will go up stream first if that's my only option. If I can locate a put in further up stream that's the best. I go with a friend and take two cars. Park one at the take out and ride together to the launch.
  13. All this cost of expence and no one has mentioned the roman mother or 3:16 baits. Do swim bait guys just accept the cost of doing business or are they just so far out there people don't even look. I will never buy one but many do.
  14. Plastics are very expensive and if your not repairing them it will cost a ton. Mendit might just be gold in a bottle.
  15. The kvd square bills and xd baits come with good hooks. I would not call them premium but good. Bps baits on the other hand come with garbage.
  16. So you like Croix me to. The 66mf is great for square bills and top waters. I like my alphas for this with the 6.8 or stock gears. A 7'mhf for jigs spinners and plastics. I don't run st Croix for cranks as I love my dobyns 764ml rod. I would choose a 7"mhm for versatility if I had to stay in the same company. Avids are great but on the jig plastics I stepped up to the legend elite.
  17. I don't think many lures are priced on production cost. Research, advertising, company name, operational expenses like pros. Does that bother me, nope. I do have limits but will pay for quality. For me a few companies like duo and lucky craft meet the mark. Megabass is just to rich for me, but I am happy that they ate around because others, enjoy there products and they do make a beautiful lure. I took the leap into the higher priced lures because they had clear plastics with external paint that were partially translucent. They work well for me in very clear water. To be fair the kvd 1.0 bluegill is also great for the same reason.
  18. I love frog fishing and I would do it before anything eles. I just moved from ct to was so I am still getting dialed in here but my spro frog has worked from coast to coast. I picked up the smaller wa frog from river2sea. I use a 7'3" 5 power lami excel right now with 65lb sonic braid. My current reel is a daiwa advantage 153htsl. This setup is not sexy but does grate. I have about 200 dollars in the combo with line.
  19. The little Jon md's hooks get caught on each other. The hooks are fine but I put on smaller splitrings
  20. I am 6'5" so I get away with the 7'3". If I was even a little shorter I would be looking at a 7' rod. I loose fish due to weak hookset while seated so I don't even try that anymore. My current style works for me but I would not say its best. I hit them very hard and then I have to give slack to recover my balance and get stable again for a long fight. I risk a little to make sure the hooks get a good initial bite.
  21. Big game in 20 or yhb in 20 or cxx in 20. Your choice.
  22. Grab a few multipurpose plastics and a jig or two. Toss in a few crankbaits and 2-3 frogs and your off and running.
  23. I was talking lure weight on the 1.5. Most of the blank weights were right around 3oz area. I have a lami excel that I like a lot for frogs but the handle and guides suck. Its the 7'3" 5 power rod. I was also looking at the hmx frog and slop blanks. Trving to do some research DVT for the next project.
  24. The reel will be fine. You have a ton of bass options as a frog jig or flipping stick will all work great. I would look 7'3-8' for length.
  25. Today's trend is to have multipurpose rods. Is the blank the same or different? Looking for a 7'3" rod for both. I was thinking a blank with a top end at 1.5 oz. It would not need to go less than .5 but have enough tip to work a frog. Any thoughts.
