  1. I used my dropshot rod for trout a bunch in Washington state for the last three years. P-line 100% and sniper in 6lb test worked great. I also used Berkeley xl in 6lb and that was good to.
  2. I use my daiwa advantage htsl for this in 6.3:1. It is a tank and has been going strong for years. You can find them cheap and they are a great reel. Another great option would be a zillion any version you like.
  3. This!!! I am getting away from flouro due to moving away from the gin clear water in WA. There is a time and place for flouro and i have been there. To many people boy into the hype!!!!
  4. I launched my new partners boat and it will depend a lot on the ramp but i dont use anything special. While waiting in line check the plug, pop the back straps and motor brace and take the saftey hook off the front. When it is your turn one party mans the helm and the other backs down. Stop set the truck in park put on ebrake, unhook winch let out boat and get back in truck and drive away to park. Total time on ramp 3-5 min max. I know i will get this time way down as we practice this and know what to expect..
  5. I am also looking for a yak battery, and the U1 is a good size but only to run a sonar. If your looking to run a motor you need to be looking much larger. Weight and size is at a premium and I chose to not have a motor due to this fact. The smallest I would go would be a group 24. You might want to check out MK batteries as they are made in the USA and are a good product IMO. Another choice that may interest you is a gel battery. In a single battery operation they provide a lot of the same benefits of being maintenance free, but will handle many more load cycles than the AGM before being spent. They can require a special charger but if your only dealing with one and not bank chargers like on a full sized boat this should be a non issue. They are used a lot in wheel chairs, so long life with repeated charging is critical.
  6. http://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/page/82 I have linked you to daiwa but they also have stuff for your carado. Dont go to broke
  7. never had any of the air reels so thanks for the info!!! Is it the size of the pixy
  8. if you have an alphas a MB zonda spool its as finesse as anything else out there. http://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=898_1038_1046&products_id=3438 or if you really want to spend then maybe http://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=898_1038_1046&products_id=5409 the sv is cheap kinda http://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=898_660_655&products_id=10185
  9. Is it the same size as the 105 reel or it has no spools that will fit???
  10. I love his jigs and catch most of my fish on his swim jigs. His brush jigs are very good to and the only other one I use a lot is the arcky head. I used to order all kinds of trailer colors, but now for bottom contact I order black, brown or green pumpkin and use the trailer to add the splash of color. My swim jigs I have him special make to match the paddle tail I want to use. The best so far is ayu which is not currently on hid dropdown menu but should be...
  11. The only major change you can make is to change out the spool bearings. I found that the standard daiwa bearings are great, just take them out, take off the shields and clean them out real good. Then choose a high quality oil like the boca lightening oil or the hedgehog alchemy oil.
  12. He seemed to do better than this guy from San Diego!!! We were both very cool first thing, but he was using gloves so he was smarter than I was!
  13. I agree the point that is labeled with the 15' contour would be where I was trying to nail both of the bass species. I would start looing at some 3 and 4 inch paddle tails with heavy heads to pick up the smallies. They tend to stay deeper most of the year so this will give you results year round by changing the weight of the head. Keitech are the best IMO but bass assassin make a great 4" shiner bait that holds up better.
  14. 29 was worse than I thought, I could not feel my hands until around 11. Had fun, but dam this is the south. Hope were done with the deep freeze starts!!!!
  15. Light braid will dig if you don't have a high speed level wind. There are several reels that have a high speed level wind and you can adapt those parts to your reel to help out if you have a compatible model. The tackle trap sells the conversions, lots of problems with light braid no matter the manufacturer on bait casters.
  16. Yea tomorrow morning is going to be painful an i plan to dress like its going to be a blizzard. Mid 30's to start ouch.
  17. Reputable repair has been found. I located the right person for the job and got her card from bass pro shops. Her contact information is Real Reel service 253 hilliard rd Byhalia MS 38611 901-870-8677 L Jane Brunner jane.brunner3@gmail.com The rumor is you can drop off your rod or reel at the sycamore view bass pro and she will pick it up and return it to that location. Discussions with the guys in the fishing section says that she does top notch work for a reasonable price. I had one claim that she is the warranty repair person for duckett.
  18. The brush hawg is first choice but i also like the super hog. The super hog works best in areas where you need something a little more weed friendly. It does not have the long tenticales at the back that like to wrap around stuff. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Zoom_Super_Hog_10pk/descpage-ZSH.html
  19. I have the dx 743 and for jigs its way to light. It makes a great weightless worm rod but for heavy hook operations the 4 power is a way better idea.
  20. Options for pre-registration????
  21. I don't mind either way but the direction of the spiral needs to be correct so you can lay the rod down. In the one pictured it goes on the opposite side of the handle which means there is no way to put the rod down flat. It may be just me but it drives me nuts.
  22. I start with a moving bait like a swim jig or just a small swim bait and then slow down to a jig. Crankbaits are a great way to start or a spinnerbait and then slow down to pick apart an area that has fish.
  23. Alewife is one of the primary forage in the north east. The pro blue mentioned earlier worked well in CT as well as the rapala perch color on my xrap-8. Those two and just white is what worked best for me. I tried a lot of others but either struck out or only got one or two the entire time i was up there for three years. Baits that worked well were the smaller xraps size 8, the rc stx by rick chun in the larger size and the lLucky Craft Staysees 90 ver.2
  24. How often do you bass fish from shore and hook into a tree??? Many a bass has been caught on a jerkbait and if the primary problem is getting your lure back what does it hurt. Using stronger line is an option but the other side is just as feasible. He would not be upgrading his line if just breaking off was ok.
  25. Another option that has not been covered that may be worth a look is using very thin wire hooks. If your line cannot handle heavy weight hooks then you can go much lighter, get much better hook penetration, and bend them out if you get hung up. Look at trebles like the ones people use on jerkbaits.
