The standard size bass reel is a 2500. I dont buy that size most of the time for several reason. 1. I can find great deals on high end reels on the smaller sizes. 2. if your going for a light action rod the larger reel ways a ton.
I would look around in the used market. I just picked up an original fuego 2000 for 115 dollars shipped. Pair that with the elite tech bass 610mlxf and some 6lb yhb and the combo would be almost impossible to beat for twice that amount. The daiwa advantage, sol, fuego were all high quality reels that are not matched in the current lineup. One that is missed a lot is the daiwa tierra.
