  1. Knots and abrasion resistance. 4 lb line is tiny, and I do quite well on 6. Went all the way down to 2# and I settled on 6 for my taste. I hate casting off lures. Cold aND light line is lures sailing of into the sunset.
  2. My buddy is fishing Florida rightnow and doing well on beavers. You may be more south as he is mid state, but that's as if 12 hours ago.
  3. Composite rods are great for crankbaits. They will work for a lot but not the best for bottom contact. The best all around rod is a mhf rod. If your spinning only you may consider a heavy as some companies rate spinning diffrent than casting. Frogs and jigs are what seem to require the power
  4. Try a 4" worm wacky rigged. You will catch what is nibbling including bluegill
  5. just dont invest in bitcoin
  6. I would pick up an swaiver or two because they caught me some good fish lately and some 5 or 6xd;s because why not...
  7. There are two main camps for jerkbaits, those that like moderate rods and those that like fast rods. You will find many in the middle also. I prefer a fast rod and i use a st croix avid 66mf. Your main line choice will have a lot to do with the rod you choose. If your a braid to leader kind of guy then the slower rods will work out. I use co-poly so i like a rod with a little less give. Megabass makes a one-ten special that a lot of guys like. What bait your using and main line will be helpful in providing any further ***. Reels are about the same, i like an alphas with a zonda deep spool. The smaller reel just feels good on that setup. You could also look at the steez or and Aldebaran
  8. I have one of those in brown, there a great bait and well worth the money spent. The swimbait game is like the JDM dark side. If your into both you might as well mortgage your house now!!!!
  9. I have not used any of the other leaders you mention. I fish bass and trout so other species may require you try other stuff. Musky and pike are much larger and stronger fish that i have not really dealt with. Ocean fish are a different game entirely.
  10. If your going to go threw all of that might as well be using hollow core braid. The effort and time trying to do that out on the water would make it a no go for me. The alberto is a solid knot and once you learn it, its fast and easy even out on the water. https://www.***.com/fishing_knots/alberto-knot
  11. two good options really and the first one is the welded snap covered above. If i am fishing a swim bait then some times i add a solid ring after the split ring so i dont have the issue that your having. Owner also makes the solid rings i am talking about and if your way against snaps then that would be your other option. I use the 33 and 44 lb snaps and the 44 works well on swaivers and swim baits in that size range. The 33 is better for normal bass cranks and the smallest size works well on jerk baits and small cranks like rapala minnows and pins minnows.
  12. Slept in the front of the boat once and i was sooooo happy that i had one of the good standing mats to lay on. I had some decent sleep and i knew everything was secure..
  13. I've lost the ability to look at work. Let's get er fixed boss
  14. I also would not go full salt but if you have a delta area if your mostly fresh you should be ok as long as you do a good washing after use. I chased striper in the Thames river in CT and in the CT river and washed everything down and had no issues. Reels on the other hand are a lot more work to get clean and i have seen some nice stuff be neglected a few times and start looking trashed...
  15. There were some design improvements done to the 110 to improve running and from fowling. My 90 sucks and i like my 110 a lot. I also have to hold my rod high to keep the 90 from going under and the 110 does not have that issue...
  16. For sure. If you don't have y he setups complete I would get the medium together and dialed in. The winter means they will not fight near as hard and the weeds are a lot less thick right now. Might need to hurry to beat the hard water.
  17. Fear not. You have the two most common rods as long as they ar 7+ footers. The medium will be your better choice for cranks IMO and the mh will be your jig swim jig super fluke and spinnerbait rod. Depending on your line choice you could also frog with the Mhf. I would set the mhf up with 40 or 50 lb braid and run a leader if you feel the need. The Mf I would run a 10 or 12 lb copoly like YHB or p-line cx. Add a mlxf spinning rod and your dialed into almost everything
  18. For a cheap decent reel the daiwa advantage htsa can be had cheap and it's solid. A step up would be a zillion costal.
  19. Yea I haven't given it a lot of time. Been focused on the swaiver this fall and just looking for a good backup and something to throw near laydowns. Just purged my spinnerbaits as they never really grew on me.
  20. So I have tried a bladed jig a few times and have yet to hook up. I read an article about how the pulses best simulate an escaping craw. This made a lot of sense. I have tried to get them to bite on baitfish colors, am I going at it wrong. Planned to get one or two in green pumpkin with black blade and trail a craw. Is this a better plan????
  21. I am going this direction. I am looking to get one shad solid color, one clear like clear water minnow, and a flash in silver like American shad. I think color matters the least and depth action and sound or silent being more inportant. I try to make things simple. I try and get the clear silent and one of the other two colors with rattle.
  22. Can you order the towner package as a dealer add on. I watch so many people do a wack job on there new cars and trucks. Then have to deal with electrical issues. The add on harness have worked well imo and then can be removed if there are issues or selling the car.
  23. Yea CT is implodING the same as California. It's a dam shame as there was a lot of good fishing there. Spent most of my time out in eastern CT and never got to candlewood. The rivers are fun to yak as well. Find CT politics strange being the constitution state...
  24. It's called the general fund. It's how they slush money and pay for things they want instead of what they should. Herst castle provides all income to the general fund and people try and raise donations for repair and restoration. It's really crap.
