  2. Hard to pass on the deal currently in the for sale area of the mlxf st croix and C4i.
  3. With the broad group of lures you mention you may want something like the Power versatile or white python. They are the most broad based rods for single rod purposes i have found. Gary at TTT said the pv is good for frogs and i dont know that i would use the WP for them but definitely the spinner baits would be ace. The medium fast taper has a broader application and for heavy jigs it helps keep them pinned. So may cool mb rods.
  4. I like XF actions but i use a copoly line. XF and braid seem to be the worst combination and although very good in the feel category there is no give in the system. If you like the rods try a line that will give the system some stretch. It seems like every one wants the fastest rods with braid and a 9.0 reel to ski the fish back to the boat. I like my fenwick 610mlxf for dropshot and my 610mxf st croix sc5 for shakey head and small jigs. I will have hooks 2/0 in size so i have a lot of meet to hold on to the fish. Smaller hooks and trebles need some give with liter lines as your not horsing them in and need a system that does not instantly unload. In your case if you use a line with a little more give and still dont like it maybe try a 7' fast.
  5. The high end dry lube for motorcycle chains seems to work well for me and does not collect dirt.
  6. I was very worried about this and with 4 carrier it is no doubt true. I have gone threw a few sizes of 832 and on that line I like 15. It has yet to cut me but pp in the same size has got me good. I don't know if it's a line by line thing or 8 vs 4 carrier.
  7. The fluorocarbon tag is the killer. A little extra on the braid seems like no issue.
  8. Found my preceious. The bait monkey is now the bait silver back
  9. I use megastrike to lube a plastic. Soft swim baits seem to last a little longer and 's punch rig seems to slide in the cover a little better maybe letting me use a little less weight. Not the normal use but to each there own.
  10. Best frog rod would be the xx perfect pitch but that't not what the OP was asking. I fished the AV 73mhf and it was a decent frog rod i just hated the reel seat. That rod was more powerful than what i expected from a MH it was my fishing partners at the time and it surprised me.
  11. Half as often as i would like and twice as much as my wife likes. I get out at least three times a week but most of the time its just a pond trip but in my yak or in a boat at least once a week.
  12. Lithium will seem cheap vise pulling a muscle or hurting yourself. You could by two regular and not move the battery or one li and move it as you want. I will spend a lot to prevent injuty. Jmo
  13. A wild group of colors is not required but you may need a few to match the conditions. In your case buying the most expensive lure does not represent the best value.
  14. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewluckycraftpointerminnow.html This is a money issue as far as i am concerned. There are several premium class jerkbaits out there to include Megabass. lucky craft, and duo. Can you afford more than one to help complete a package to cover your waters. Can you complete the three major colors, a clear, matte and foil finish. If you can then the MB is a great choice. If you can better afford the lucky craft, i dont think your loosing anything.
  15. So you indicated the 100 dollar bait and I can only assume you mean their islide swim baits. I think a lot of people would choose a different bait for that 100 dollars. The pizz drift, the jointed claw. And the deps 250 are all right about that price and I would choose all of them before the islide. That's just the glides that are considered top shelf. Megabass is a great company but the question of if there worth it is up to you and which lure your talking about.
  16. Big baits are no different than any other bait. You can use a split ring or snap to give more and free movement. Don't over think this.
  17. Step one turn up your breaking and spool tension. Step two learn to cast all over again. It is a different game managing fluorocarbon. Take it easy and learn how the line needs to be managed. If you are used to braid, it's going to be more painful mistakes.
  18. My fishing partner picked Glenn for sunday, hope it's decent. Might go big baits for kicks. A lot easier out the back of a boat than in a yak...
  19. Mb white python would be amazing and only 4x your budget.
  20. I hate it and love yhb. You could find deals on ebay or try for some of the two for one black Friday deals.
  21. Curious about the lack of power? I drag in 5-6lb fish with no issue.
  22. Your dealing with a walmart shopper that buys combo's. This speaks to the type of person your trying to haggle with. But did you add in a free spool of line because you cant fish without that either.
  23. If there is a spot of water I am putting a liNE in it. Get some funny looks yakING around the dog park ponds at Shelby farms. Try not to go to far but exit 52 ish there are several ponds in the state park I have wet a line in. Off the next 4 days and planned on going at least twice. Monday is looking good
