  1. On a positive note 1/0 works great on a baby brush hawg and what real fisherman dies not have at least a dozen bags of those
  2. This is not even close to the going rate. That's more than double and somebody got ripped
  3. I have never used those hooks, but for spinning tackle I use 2/0 gamy ewg hooks. They are a lot lighter wire than the 3/0 and work great. I'm the exception I think
  4. When I fished mainly rivers for smallies I was fond of 10lb yhb. I still use it a lot on medium setups. Mh I run 12 and heavy 15.
  5. I do use almost all braid to leader on my spinning setups. 15 gives me a lot of wind knots and 30 seems to kill my casting distance. For the record I do use 832 so your line choice may vary. I like 2000 sized daiwa's because they have enough drag enough line capacity and are a lot lighter than the same model 2500. Some of the new lt models have shed a lot of weight so that would be a good choice. If you can find the model you like in a high gear that may also be a good choice if moving baits are not in the plan. Shallow spools 2506 or pe specials also reduce line capacity that is not needed for bass fishing. My preferred spinning setups for plastics is a 610mlxf.
  6. Seems like you could add a spinning setup to round out your collection. Trick worms are a favorite and are not easy to cast weightless on casting gear. Also give you a chance to fish crankbaits like a shadrap that is not easy to cast and finally give you a good dropshot, snakehead and wacky setup. The 703 spinning would do all of these things. 20 lb braid on a 20 or 2000 size real would be perfect.
  7. Use a copolly pline cx/ccx yhb or suffix siege. Great knots line is more neutrally buoyant and strong.
  8. Spinning no issue at all, casting depends a lot on your style. If you plam the real dont think it matters at all, I dont so the handle aft of the reel is important to me and no split.
  9. Please use the search function. This topic is beat to death.
  10. The bait choice for me is about the size of the presentation and action. During spring and winter I use jigs with craws. Spring is also a good lizard time. I have never caught a fish on a 8 inch lizard but to be honest I have not put in the time. Worms are an anytime bait but the size is dependent on mood mostly, and water temp. I start middle of the road 7 or 9 ribbon tail and adjust depending on fish feedback. I go smaller always first if o get no action. 4" green pumpkin lizard is any anytime testing bait. If I cant even get a nibble on that it's time to go home.
  11. I use 6 on a 2000 daiwa and it works just fine. If I get any twist I just take the lure off and troll the line behind the boat and reel it back on. Maybe do that once every 4 or 5 trips. Dropshot is what causes me issues and that's how I fix it.
  12. I use braid on a spinning reel due to line twist and any leader will work. I use YHB the most but anything will do.
  13. I have a decent spread of their baits but the one i use the most is the cane stick worm. It has tons on little channels in it for rigging and when the head gets torn up then you can just rig the other side as it is identical. They are a lot slower sinking than a normal 5 inch worm and in some situations that works really well. I use the 4 inch a bunch for dropshot or skipping under shallow docks so i get better hang time. I also don't get hung up on name brand baits, but i do try and buy a spread to try out different stuff.
  14. You talk fishing at work to much when your boss knows the difference between power and action.
  15. The big suprising thing when I started night fishing is they hit the exact same color as in daytime. Watermelon was not what I thought was going to be a first pick. They seem to hit slower as the need to find the bait but are a little less shy
  16. I would kindly disagree. Works well on Lm Sm crappie, and I have been decent on trout. I am sure there are more but these are the species that it has worked well for me.
  17. Get a core set of colors to work with. Green brown and black
  18. I dont like flouro for pitching or punching because I love to light them up when combat fishing. Most common leader is 15lb yhb with a jig or punch rig but not often.
  19. Hold an keyboard duster upside down and spray the reel foot to cool it down
  20. If there the ones that look like beavers then I have plenty of fish on them.
  21. Never liked a knife in an emergency, and I carry a set of medical shears from my scuba gear. Nice retraction holder and done.
  22. Choose a SC sc5, NFC,point blank, or k2 blank and build exactly what you always wanted
  23. Wild guess are fun. I would give you five as a give or take number but who really knows. Health has the largest factor in how much i weighs. Caught some 20" frame fish that were 5 and some that were 3 depending on the time of year and how good the food supply is. Now that it is the peak of summer should have been a good time considering they are at full power.
  24. In other kayak night fishing and light news, I found 2 motorcycle break lights on Amazon for 10 bucks that are waterproof rated and plan on running red below the inside lips so I can see and people can see me. It's not fool proof but that along with a 360 white marker light is easy and adds a lot of convenience.
  25. I do what you describe but i don't fish with any traffic or other boats present. If you do i would highly recommend getting a lighted whip light with flag. A lot of them are battery powered and run on AAA batteries. If you run rechargeables then its very low budget. If you want an idea of what i am talking about yak attack makes several
