here in the northwest I find I don't get any bites on braid. VI's here is +15 feet or more. Sadly I do best on 6lb mono or flouro. When I get in the pads and weeds I can get away with braid sometimes.
CT had a lot of good bass lakes with slot limits. I feel like its a good plan but have no data or proof to back that up. The 12-17 I think were the numbers.
I would look for a medium heavy spinning combo with 10-12lb line. Start with some stick worms and some square bills from strike king. Pfluger makes a president combo that would be a great starter setup.
They almost built the perfect rod for me and then they went with a split grip. I am wondering if they will come out with a microguide version of the standard avid? I also wonder why they did not go with a spiral on the X? I don't see how the x would not benefit going all the way, vise leaving off the final step.
I think being a contributor is what it comes down to. Add to the experience in a meaningful way. If that's with cash, beer, loading, or unloading. Free loading is not the right answer.
The large rc stx in pearl white and the black one. Strike king 1.5 square bills in bluegill and perch. 1/4 and 3/8 jigs in watermelon with a beaver in watermelon red flake spro popping frog the brown one. And a river 2 sea bubble walker 88 in trout. Not an expensive lineup but worked for me all over CT. There are a ton of baits out there but these have all produced for me again and again.
If I see kids fishing near me and I catch a good fish the go nuts. Most of the time I cut off the lure or give them some of the soft plastics I am using. Most of them don't have powerful enough rods for the jigs but they have no idea and still get a kick out of it.
I have one. I have used it a handful of times, and it is my least favorite. I think it would make an excellent shallow river bait but I have yet to be able to try that. The action gets good at a faster retrieve.
I use most of there baits except the poppers. I prefer pencil baits is the only reason I don't have any. I like all the gill patterns and only crank I don't have yet is the 20. They all work well and I love the quality at the current price they are unbeaten.
